While I do like him and some of the things he's done, it seems to me that he wants to be as much of a political figure as a religious one. I'm even ok with that but the he should expect the same push back and criticism as any other politician.

To piggy back on Van Basten's comments, while not Catholic I do understand his, a pope's, worldwide influence. He, to my mind, is eroding the more or less good, solid bedrock upon which his segment of his religion stands. We need more strong foundations for doing good upon which to stand in this world, not less. I think he is letting down his flock and potentially hurting a lot of people long term with many of his stances.
The pope should stay out of US presidential politics. Trump's plan to secure the border is not much different than that of most other republicants - Trump is more adamant about "mass" deportation but other than making Mexico pay for our wall is not unique.
I find it odd that a pope living in a walled city/state would find fault with building border walls or controlling immigration. Singling out Trump for special papal attention and the added free "news" publicity it brings will not likely have the desired affect.
Does politics have some sort of magical anti-God shield?

When you have the left, who hate any kind of organized religion and are mostly atheistic,

I am an atheist so the entire concept of a Pope is ridiculous to me.
When you have the left, who hate any kind of organized religion and are mostly atheistic, all supporting and liking the Pope, while conservatives dislike him, it's time to sit up and take notice that maybe there is something wrong with this Pope.
Lets see,What 'solid bedrock' is he eroding? He seems quite popular worldwide...eace
I am an atheist so the entire concept of a Pope is ridiculous to me. As a person? He seems ok. He at least seems more empathetic than his predecessors. I'm not sure why Catholics think he should stay out of politics, though. I mean, if there is a God then isn't God involved in all things and have dominion over all things? Does politics have some sort of magical anti-God shield?
