From what I can figure out from the news reports, it doesn't sound like they were an actual threats. None of them had weapons or anything like that.

With that said, they WERE acting suspiciously. My guess is that they were trying to make a political statement. They must have figured that either 1) US Airways would confront them, as they did, and then they could raise a stink about being discriminated against, or 2) US Airways would be too ashamed to risk appearing bigoted and would let them board despite their suspicious behavior, which would then embolden actual terrorists.

It sounds to me like US Airways made the right decision. It turns out they weren't doing anything wrong, but they WERE acting suspicious and thus US Airways was perfectly justified in asking them to leave the plane until the matter could be sorted out.

A publicity stunt? You people make me laugh. When extremists pull off a publicity stunt to get the worlds attention it ussually involves something made out of concrete and metal going "Boom" followed by mass chaos. 9/11 Was a publicity stunt and as suckers do we are attacked the wrong guy in the wrong place at the wrong time and are now paying dearly.

Personally I take my hat off to the crew of that plane....I think they did exactly the right thing and that is evidenced by and actual person on the flight who said the passengers on the plane gave the crew a standing ovation for their action....

I say Well Done!!!!!!!!:applaud

Yup. Their actions fuel extremists - way to go guys! Making it possible for them to get even more pissed at us and then increase the determination of REAL terrorists to want to blow up even more planes! Woohooo good job.

That is the way you look being sympathetic to their cause....I think it might make the terrorists think twice about hijacking another plane..........

I'm not sympathetic to terrorists(if thats who you're talking about). I just find it ridiculous that people consider this a publicity stunt. Np You're funny. There are people entering and exiting our borders everyday with no way for us to verify who they are, how they got into the country and if they pose a threat to Americans and you think that because we took off 6 imams off a plane terrorists will think twice about attacking us again? Open your ****ing eyes and save yourself the emotional 9/11 speech.

Look, that is not what this thread is about..........If you want to start a thread on the border go for it but don't try to hijack this thread and don't try and fool us into believing you are not sympathetic to the Imams becasue you are not fooling anyone but yourself my Liberal friend..........

Liberals like you have already forgotten about 9/11...that is the sad part.........

Hell I might even agree with you about the border situation....

LOL I never said I wasn't sympathetic to these men(I am very sympathetic to them btw) I said I wasn't sympathetic to terrorists. Why would I try not to be sympathetic with the imams? They were kicked off a plane and then neither the airline nor the passangers apologized for their obvious discrimination.

Liberals like you have already forgotten about 9/11...that is the sad part.........

And people like you use it to justify every action commited by our goverment. Be it legal or illegal. Regardless of civil liberties and basic rights.

Hell I might even agree with you about the border situation....

Yup.

Yup.

All your so called precious civil rights you say your losing won't mean squat if you liberals keep trying to hinder the NSA and the CIA from doing their job and there is a nulear cloud of over the town you live in........

Here we go with the "If you think unhappy thoughts the terrorists win" Bs.

I agree with you,I think it is better to error on the side of caution than to let suspicious on board due to political correctness.I am surprised NP didn't add that to the poll.

You are correct, people should be vigilant and aware of their surroundings and not let someone suspicious slide by because of political correctness.I think these kind of actions ensure that our enemies will have to work much harder at trying to get us.

That's a tough question. I think I'll have to go with choice D, "to get from point A to point B"

If it really came down to airport security catching terrorists at the last minute because they were acting suspiciously, somebody in intelligence has fornicated things up so badly that I'd demand that heads roll for it.

They got to the plane. Boom.

Having some experience working with Arabs I have seen this type of behavior very often. Let me make it clear that I am talking about Arabs not Muslims. Christian Arabs react the same way. They push the envelope to get special consideration, very often play the victim and do a lot of whining and crying. This behavior is see rarely among other Muslims like the Indonesians or the Malays or the Persians. I believe it is cultural but I have no idea of the root causes.

Let's see -- they invoked the name Allah loudly and repeatedly. They were overheard invoking the name of Bin Laden and cursuing America. Instead of taking their assigned seats, they fanned out on the plane and took up positions guarding all the exits. They requested seat extenders that they did not need, and set them at their feet.

I see three possibilities to explain their actions. They were either terrorists on a dry run, they were pulling a stunt or they were completely retarted. If they were on a dry run, they would have been smart enough to not draw so much attention to themselves. If they were retarted, how is it they hit upon the exact terrorist pattern of fanning out on the plane to take up positions next to all the exits and how did they become imams in the first place?

THis reads publicity stunt through and through.

Yeah it was a publicity stunt...sad part is that it worked

-There was just way too much suspicious behavior going on...i mean who the hell purposely sits in seats other than the one's assigned to them, and to do so in such radically different seats situated in different parts of the plane.
Then the damned seatbelt extentions...all 6 of those guys looked under 210lbs and those extentions are usually reserved for "considerably larger" passengers. And why in the hell would they place them at their feet and not use them in the first place. Not to mention the whole praying thing...most people will not understand the doctrine and habits of practicing Muslims, so when the passengers of a comercial airliner see 6 men stragically seated throughout the plane openly praying to Allah and stating rhetoric about Osama, they will naturally become concerned, i know i would.
-Its a sad truth to admit but in this day and age when we must be careful as to see every person (arab or not) as a potential threat, measures must be taken. It was exactly the correct thing to do; to remove those men from the aircraft based upon an abundance of suspicious behavior. Does this make us racists or zelots? APSOLUTELY NOT
-Now i really dont agree with the whole audience of passangers and those waiting in line to board the aircraft to burst into applause when they were removed....little harsh...but i guess thats what you get when you act like a complete idiot on an airplane. Who knows its probably helping their case of how America hates all Muslims.

-I just find it funny and sad that God forbid an attack really was carried out by these men (using the seatbelts as weapons, taking over the plane and becoming "pilots" themselves, thousands die);that the morons now saying that those men were discriminated against would completely flip the card and be whining about how "Why was nothing done, there were enough signs to warn them that those six were suspicious....we sat by and let this happen..."
-God i love how politics work...Its a lose-lose situation

-And how in the hell could those flight attendents been so stupid as to grant the request of a seatbelt extender to men who obviously didnt need them.......Wait a second, if they were refused the seatbelts then that would be an act of discrimination against fat people, Muslims, blacks, whites, hispanics, jews, anyone living on the continents of Asia, Africa, and/or Antarctica as well as people who only eat the brown M&M's.....and this debate would be just where it is now.

On the news it stated that all they was communing. they were not armed or doing anything threatening. They were making some folk uncomfortable because they are moslems.

Moslems are part of America, and no matter what Bush wants, we are not going to kill them all.

Ok, first off that is just a stupid post...communing or not, the behavior they were expressing (openly praying to Allah when it could have been done quietly and by themselves, seatbelt extentions, Osama statements) was deemed suspicious enough to get them removed from the aircraft.

And secondly its muslim not moslem or how ever the hell you spelled it

If you would, please answer me these 2 questions...and please answer them before you go off ranting again....dont pull a Hillary

1) Why did they ask for seatbelt extentions when they didnt need them in the first place and then put them on the floor at their feet when they got them?

2) Why would they sit in seats other than the ones assigned to them on their bording passes?.....and we're not talking one or two seat differences...they seperated themselves throughout the entire plane just to make sure people would notice.

-Please stop being an ignorant idiot with your idiotic rambling on how Bush hates the Muslims and wants them all dead. Your arguments dont hold any water.

PS: Dont trust every single thing you hear on the news...most of it is bias and will tell you what you want to hear

Please try this at the airport on your next flight and tell me what happens to you.

Just as you get to the gate go down on your knees and say 5 "Hail Marys" (If you are a Protestant then recite The Lord's Prayer" out loud. If you are a Buddhist any sutra representative of the sect you belong to.) Make sure you can be heard by everyone including the security people. If you haven't been hauled away by that time request a seat change. After, or maybe IF, you reach your destination please post what you experienced.

You must be a Muslim or something. Anyway you misinterpreted the post. But that's nothing new you always start writing before you finish reading, Your answer is dumb as a post. But you are obviously not a Catholic because you don't understand the function of the Ave Maria. You're not very religious are you.
