It does not look like Trump is going to get a "wall" from the Dems. If we are lucky the Dems will offer some fencing or to fix the present walls and Trump can use that tto appease his base. If not what are Trump's choices. If he once again shuts down the Government, he might as well not run in 2020 as the first shut down was not only blamed on him but lost him some of his base support. A second shutdown might just be his doom as he will once again be blamed for the shutdown. The other choice is to declare an emergency which even his GOP supporters in the Senate are telling him not to do. It might be the smarter choice though as it will never go into effect as it will be hung up in court until he leaves office. Can anyone think of another choice?

He can refuse to sign any Bill's that has things in ot the left wants. Force them to offer clean Bill's
Nope. His authority to declare national emergencies has already been adjudicated in the Exec.Branch's favor, and when the anti-Constitution 9th Circus Court decides it know what's best for us all...again, it will be fast tracked to the USSC...and decided in the president's favor, per the Constitution.
He could choose to work with Congress and actually come up with a common sense immigration reform plan.
But that involves actually caring about the problem.

Most Americans don't want open borders.

Do you really think congress wants a common sense immigration reform plan. Which would take away a major issue for 2020. If you do try to think back to 2009 when democrats truly controlled the house, senate and presidency. Immigration reform was not on the table then. Illegal immigrants are pawns in the two party fight.
Not paying for Trumps idiotic wall doesn't equate to wanting open borders.
Not securing the border equates to open borders.
Well yeah, that's not common sense immigration reform to most Americans.
There is also going to have to be big compromises from both parties to get it done so sadly, I don't see any real common sense immigration reform coming anytime soon.
Most americans don't want a wall either.
A wall is not the ONLY way to secure a border. So again you are wrong.
How should it be done?
What is your idea of "common sense immigration reform". Y'all always say it, but can never explain it.
