Wake County NC school bus drivers go on strike

Which consists of sitting in a seat, driving around making frequent stops.
Answer the question. It's a simple yes or no.

Are drivers responsible for the supervision and safety of large groups of children?

they are paid in 3 hour blocks....it is a semi hourly/semi salary type pay. If the rate figures out to 16 an hour they would be paid $48 for each 3 hour block they do...it wouldn't matter if they take 4 hours to do it...but going over on your 3 hour block also can get you fired.
let's let rahl embarrass himself with his presented calculation of the annual salary of a school bus driver

They do not make $17k a year, mathematically. What part has you confused
oh, really now.....figure it this way...there are 180 school days in a year. They get $96 a day....which means they earn 17, 280 a year. They don't get paid for days they don't work, not holidays, not summer, etc....oh, and they don't get insurance either.

Cite they don’t get paid holidays nor insurance.

show you math, to inform us how much a school bus driver earns annually

don't run away after mocking my math skills. show your own calculation

Is this really how you intend to intelligently defend your position that the drivers should be fired because of your inconvenience? Try a new tactic, this one is not working.

So you can’t shot they don’t get paid holidays or insurance. Thank you

No. They should be fired for walking out on their job.

I don’t need one and it is working quite well.

and

so, you were saying?

since they are part time and hourly, they don't get paid for time they do not work....that includes holidays, time off, summers, etc.

No. They should be fired for walking out on their job.

sure, go ahead and fire them...then you can continue transporting your kid to school...because they were about 20% short already.....then you will be really inconvenienced. They however, can find a job that pays more, working at McDonald's or Costco.

So you can’t shot they don’t get paid holidays or insurance. Thank you
show your math

i want you to expose for this forum how non-factual your posts tend to be
you mocked my math for identifying how much a school bus driver earns annually, yet you are unwilling to show us your own calculation to determine their annual salary
there is a term for people who cannot do what they mock others for doing; bet you know what that term is
like your math, you will run away from posting that, too

That's a system I've never heard of. Could you tell e where you found this? Is it a common bus driver thing? Not being a wise guy, I am truly curious.

rahl thought drivers get paid when they aren't working....they don't.

It is a common bus driver thing. I think a few posts up, I posted a link that talks about it. I am not sure right now which one,(I am closely watching an antique auction and trying to do this at the same time...an item on there that I want pretty badly).

"thought" may be an over-reach based on the posts i have read

more like "misled himself about"

And they're responsible to drive the bus safely and defensively to protect the lives of all the kids.
They are responsible for the safety of all children getting on and off the bus as well.
They exercise the same parental locus as teachers when comes to the welfare of their children.
Yes, I would try and compensate them fairly and treat them with courtesy and respect.

Good luck. I hope you win!

If their contact does not have a no-strike clause they are with in their rights.
Sounds like they are having a sick out, not a strike.

Me too...hopefully, my set budget on it doesn't run out before it stops...I have held until Monday....for now....auction ends Monday at 6....no point in driving the bid up any more than I have to....about 3 or 4 times a year I buy a new piece...I love, love antiques and collect them like some kids collect toys.

from what I just read, the school board is talking with drivers about the issues and trying to resolve the pay issue and other issues and they have agreed to return to work pending those resolutions.

then it would appear the refusal of one-third of the bus drivers to show up brought the school officials to the table

if so, that would be another example of collective bargaining sometimes being essential to resolving labor-management issues

I apologize, my mistake...the article I read was from 11 days ago....evidently there was no meeting of the minds and thus now they are 'striking' or calling out.
