And you should be banned twice for supporting the violent rioters that burned down cities across the country. Which goes against the rules here.
Show a single post of mine that supported violent rioters lol.

That's right. Someone has got to pay for those gigantic tax cuts Trump wants to give to the billionaires so it might as well be ordinary people like you and me trying to build a nest egg via buying a home so the home can build equity. The cruelty, greed and heartlessness of the Trump minions seems to have no bottom. No program that helps the little guys is off limits to these greedy bast*rds.

Well, MAGAs we tried to warn you what you were voting for and now your chickens are coming home to roost. You F**k Around, You Find Out, right? (FAFO)

"According to the document, some ideas for funding those tax breaks include eliminating the mortgage home deduction, a popular break for homeowners..."

That would hurt R/E values as well. Glad I no longer have a mortgage but it's still a garbage idea.

The hate was stirred up to stir up emotions and support for deportations and voters for Trump. That is why Trump characterized illegal immigrants as dangerous criminals. It will not happen because the point was to stir up hate, not to actually deport any more than us usual. It is all for show.
I'll disagree, but not fully. Stirring up hate is only half of the formula, the other is to instill fear. You are right that it is "for show", but what is the result of the "show" - to scare the "opposition", whether immigrants (if they have brown skin), minorities (Black, LGBTQ+, women), liberals/Democrats and even members of his own party that might stand on principle and voice disagreement. And, it is effective.

Trump and Fascism: A Pair of Historians Tackle the Big Question

"I think this so-called fascism debate centers on this very issue. How much do we need to be replicating the past in order to call what we’re seeing today fascist? Or do we need to do that at all? Can we just say, well, there is a timeless essence that can be downloaded on any period, and that’s what we’re seeing right now."

No, it's not about you, it's about the country. You just add comic relief. :ROFLMAO:
It's not about the country....it's about your sick obsession with "owning the libs".

Do you hear yourself?
It's the truth. If Trump caused another Great Depression you would be OK with it....because it will make the libs hate Trump even more.

No secrets here. It was obvious before the election that this type of stuff would be Trumps focus. Wil have to wait and see what actually happens, but there certainly seems to be a focus on shifting more wealth to the already wealthy at the expense of those who can't afford it.

Important, please read
“I cannot allow migrants to remain in a country that does not want them; but if that country sends them back, it must be with dignity and respect for them and for our country,” he said in a post on X that included news footage showing deportees in Brazil at an airport with their hands and feet restrained.
“We will receive our fellow citizens on civilian planes, without treating them like criminals. Colombia is respected.”

It's not about the country....it's about your sick obsession with "owning the libs".
Owning the Libs? Setting you straight on how many genders there are? That's owning you? Getting rid of DEI, which was a terrible idea, is owning you? Deporting thousands of Illegal criminals is owning you? Here's a suggestion, how about Liberals stop bitching about Trump every second of the day? It's about saving the country, it's not about you. If you act like a fool, sooner or later someone is going to call you a fool.
It's the truth. If Trump caused another Great Depression you would be OK with it....because it will make the libs hate Trump even more.
Great Depression? :ROFLMAO:

Not a tax expert, but a few years ago we lost taking mortgage deduction off out taxes.

You have a choice either file with a standard deduction or itemize, you could no longer claim both. (DISCLAIMER: The standard deduction was raised significantly to account for this. We input both and the tax software figures out the most advantagious filing.)

With the standard deduction around $29,000 (married filing jointly) for most modest income people it no longer paid to itemize to take the home mortgage deduction. Now you have to have other expenses (or an expensive mortgage) to get the deductions that high.

So I'd hazard a guess that this is something targeting blue states (since they tend to have higher cost of living, therefore high home prices, therefore higher mortgages). Now, I'm not saying their aren't expenseive houses in Red states, of course there are. I'm saying that - in general - higher mortgages exist in blue states.

Actually this will hit wealthier American's over lower income people based on curren tax exemptions.

Don’t know that observing that somebody can’t speak English is racist. 🤷‍♂️
The suggestion that ICE should raid the school because students don't speak English sounds racist to me.

But, hey, chacun à son goût *....

*to each his own (taste)

Like hell it wasn't. Your exact words to me were "You're an irresponsible idiot." You can't call members idiots, it's against TOS and very insulting. I felt like calling you a f*cking lunatic but I didn't dare because I knew the moderators would infract the sh*t out of me. But you seem to have gotten away with it, more power to you.
Bullshit. If you think I was talking about you then you can’t read English.

Your post.
Young people with no future here in America: Here's what you can look forward to if you find the right country to emigrate to:

Cara West moved from Texas to Syros, Greece with her husband and two-year-old daughter in 2024. She now works remotely and brings in over $100,000 a year through her salary as a luxury travel concierge and through brand sponsorships she receives as a travel content creator. She says that, because of Greece's lower cost of living, her husband can be a full-time caretaker for their daughter. She also says that they're now able to put aside more money to pay down their $62,000 of credit card debt.

I'm Much Happier Living In Greece Than In The U.S. — Here's How Much It Costs

My reply.
It is easy for some boutique jobs to move. They are the exception, not the rule.

And $62,000 credit card debt. What the ****. There is your problem. You are an irresponsible idiot.
And my reply was clearly referencing the idiot who had the $62k in debt. Why did you assume I meant you. Maybe I should have said SHE IS AN IRRESPONSIBLE IDIOT. That would have helped the low information reader. My apologies for hurting your feelings.

But then, I am willing to engage in debate unlike some here. You got a problem with my posts, you can DM me and we can discuss. Or just put me on ignore. But instead iof discussing it, someone reported me and I got my three points for hurting some feelings. I can take my lumps. So be it.

Bye Felicia.

I can't stand Trump, but I was willing to give him the benefit of a doubt this time around. I suppose it was for my own sanity. It is quickly becoming clear that he is going to run this country into the ground to feed his own ego.

My first language was German even though I was born in the U.S. It's a long story.
Not a long story at all. Children pick up the language spoken most frequently by their parents and playmates.

My sister married a Swede in Stockholm. Both parents spoke English, but, naturally, they also spoke Swedish. Guess which language was the first spoken by their child?

You can't make this stuff up. That is essentially what Trump has done. What a silver tongued slick talker!

So now, because we had too many government agencies, we have a brand new additional one.

The Department of Redundancy Department.

Or should we call it the Department Of Government Excess.

Yes. That's it.

DOGE.

Department Of Government Excess.

Then we can run around pretending we are draining the swamp, when actually Trump fires all the government watchdogs so corruption can go unchecked.

Trump fires 17 independent watchdogs at multiple agencies in late-night move

Maga eats it up.

"Yes sir! May we have more swamp, please, sir!"

"Yes. Please give us something to distract us and make us think you're fixing government. We are so easily fooled you can tell us you're fixing government as you're rigging it for the billionaires."

"Just give us somebody to hate. Liberals and immigrants will do just fine. We're good, now. Here. Please pick our pockets. Oh hell, You've got us wrapped around your little finger. We think you're God. We'll turn our pockets inside out for you!"

"Please. Have your way with our government. We hate it anyway. We have no idea what government does for us. We wouldn't miss it if you completely destroyed it!"

"We're so gullible, we actually think you're going to reduce the debt!"

"No really. We really do!"

"Joke's on us..."

Show a single post of mine that supported violent rioters lol.

Meanwhile, any of us could show a number of posts by @Daddyo denying and defending the insurrection attempt on January 6th, 2021, by posting it here in this thread that he made about the hypocrisy of others.

I do not want to leave the U.S. but I’m a practical, pragmatic rationalist. I have ac-kan for every contingency and one of them is a ex-pat extraction if circumstances require it. Costs Rican ex-oat community is top of the list currently but I have a Dominican back up plan.

Close enough for a quick flight back if I need anything here. Far lesser cost of living there. Forget my mortgage, I can have a nice apartment for what my HOA has gone up to here. For what my mortgage costs me plus my HOA I can have a penthouse 3 BR, fed myself and have a 3 day a week housekeeper who cooks.
Life is indeed easier and much less expensive in most countries overseas that have 1st world standards of living. The oligarchs have deliberately made living in America so expensive that conditions are nearly identical to what they were when Europeans fled Europe in the late 19th--early 20th centuries. The oligarchs are doing this in order to squeeze every last penny they can out the poor and middle class and send it straight to the top into the pockets of the people who need it the least. Go figure. Now the shoe is on the other foot and Americans are flooding Google with inquiries about how to flee the US and find a better life in foreign countries. Far as they're concerned MAGAs put this orange turd into the WH so they can be the ones to finance his insane operations.

For once, I am so glad we are old, we have no loans, they house is paid for.
"If you are extending the tax cuts and enacting tariffs and cutting Medicaid, that will deliver benefits more among higher-income households, and more of a cost will be born by lower-income households," Joseph Rosenberg, a senior fellow at the Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center, a tax-focused think tank, told CBS MoneyWatch.

Adding a blanket 10% tariff could raise $1.9 trillion over the next decade, according to the document shared with Republican lawmakers. But tariffs are largely paid by consumers because companies tend to raise their prices to cover the extra import duties. Mr. Trump's tariffs could add $2,600 a year in costs for the typical U.S. family, according to an August analysis from the Peterson Institute for International Economics, a nonpartisan think tank focused on economic issues.

Tax breaks that could disappear

Some long-standing tax breaks could face elimination, according to the document:

  • Mortgage interest deduction: This could either be cut entirely or lowered to a $500,000 cap, with the former idea saving $1 trillion over a decade and the latter $50 billion over the same period.
  • "Head of household" tax filing status: This filing status provides a larger standard deduction for unmarried adults with children. Eliminating it could save $192 billion over 10 years.
  • American Opportunity Credit: This $2,500 tax credit is given for educational expenses amassed over the first four years of a person's higher education. Revoking it would save $59 billion over a decade.
  • Child and Dependent Care tax credit: This credit helps families with young children pay for up to $2,100 in annual child care expenses. Waiving it would save $55 billion over a decade.
  • Student loan interest deduction: Scrapping this deduction, used by people with student loan debt, could save $50 billion over 10 years.
  • Lifetime Learning Credit: This nonrefundable tax credit is equal to 20% of qualified tuition and related expenses under $10,000. Repealing it would save $26 billion over 10 years.

New tax breaks under consideration

The document also outlines several ideas for lowering taxes, in addition to eliminating taxes on overtime and tips. They include:

  • Eliminating the estate tax: This proposal would most benefit ultra-rich families given that the estate tax hits people with assets of nearly $14 million. Removing this tax would cost the U.S. $370 billion over 10 years.
  • Raising or eliminating the SALT deduction cap: Mr. Trump's TCJA introduced a controversial $10,000 cap on deducting state and local taxes, or SALT. Under the latest Republican proposals, the cap could be eliminated or raised to higher thresholds, such as $20,000 for married couples. The cost could range from $100 billion to up to $1 trillion, depending on the size of the change.
  • Making auto loan interest tax deductible: This idea, which was floated by Mr. Trump during the 2024 presidential campaign, could cost $61 billion over a decade.
Magas, be ever so proud.

I wonder how long the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau will last.

Maybe it will still be there, but it will be tuned into a tool for big corporations to find new ways to rip us off.

Jesus Christ, JMB you must dyslexic or something. There's your post after you quoted my OP. So when you say, "YOU are an irresponsible idiot", who is the "YOU" directed at? If it's directed at the woman with the CC debt then why didn't you say, "SHE'S an irresponsible idiot."

But I consider the matter closed. No point in rehashing it. Let's just drop the matter.

Just to be accurate, DOGE is not an additional agency, but a repurposing of the United Stated Digital Service. A new agency would require congress to act.
