[W:233]Live updates from Georgia

It is sad that the best people Republicans could find to represent our party, conservatives, amd conservatism in general were two self-dealers out to use the position amd perquisites of their office to benefit themselves and their personal fiefdom...most especially in a time when so many people awake find themselves suddenly impoverished with loved ones dying. And then tying themselves to the sinking, burning wreck that is Donald Trump.

As sad as I am that we lost the Senate, these two Senate candidates deserved to lose. Georgia Republicans can do better, and I have little doubt better men and women of a higher caliber of morals and civic responsibility shall be found.
Not much to disagree with here.
Very well stated.

Fox News seems to be talking a lot about voter fraud & suspicious late ballots now. LOL!
already?
well the Republicans did ( aren't winning )not win so YOU KNOW it just HAS to be FRAUD
Everything is fraud with them
Have a good night

Dude... invest better then. Focus on pot deregulation, infrastructure bills along with pharmaceuticals rushing to expand COVID shots and medical equipment needed all around.
Oh, healthcare and genomics are are totally on my radar. Pharma scares me though. Hit or miss. Way too much research required for me to bone up on that. Wish my crystal ball told me to invest in Pfizer though. But that ship done sailed.

Once pot is decriminalized, I expect the cannabis markets to gain measurably. And infrastructure is a GREAT idea to look into. Thanks!

But we are derailing the thread here. Join us over on the stocks forum!

Which is still not democratic control.

especially since Manchin isn’t likely to get on board for the most extreme of the democratic agenda.
It’s a grasp so tenuous I am not freaking out like the Republican media establishment.
Yes, it would actually function like a working government - where compromises are made and things that have wide support get done in a timely manner. In comparison to the last 6 years, it would look miraculous.

True dat.

But, I believe 45% of the military voted for Biden last November. Or, I remember reading something like that. Maybe an exit poll. I really don't recall.

Hypothetically, if 45% of the military did go for the dems, and 55% for the republicans, leaving a 10% difference, will 10% of 17k (1700) put the republicans over the top? It's late. My math may be out of kilter. LOL!
No, I believe your math is good. I'd just mention that all requested ballots do not get returned. In fact, I don't know if military request ballots, or they simply get sent automatically?

You're almost there.
However, to seal the deal, you should stand in front of a mirror and practice yelling.....while shaking your fist....
"HEY, YOU KIDS GET OFF OF MY LAWN".

My wireless ssid is “You kids get off my LAN”
Can I be in the club? 😂

It is effective Democratic party control of the Senate on floor votes.

Committee assignments and membership numbers on each committee will likely go 50-50, meaning some committees will have a chairperson who is a D and some committees will have a chairperson who is an R. Which will be negotiated with the VP Harris as president of the Senate getting down into the trenches on this.

The WVA Republican Sen. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va. said she opposes the group of Republican fascist senators and House members who will challenge the certification of President-elect Joe Biden's victory in the Electoral College.

The WVA right winger Capito going with reality clears the way politically in the yahoo state for the D Joe Manchin to stand with Biden and the Constitution and in opposition to your 21st century uniquely American fascism no problem.

Hell, Warnock is already on TV giving his victory speech.

I don't know if it may be different for Georgia (and I'm sure there may be some states that do just send them out to their servicemembers, the same as they do non military) but we had to request ours for SC and NC (I had each as homestate at one point while in the military/military spouse). Military doesn't just mean "overseas" though. Not sure if everyone realizes that. You can be stationed in Cali or Hawaii and still be registered to vote somewhere on the East Coast (or other state, or vice versa), which means you still get an absentee ballot. Also, military spouses can request ballots as well. There are thousands (at least) military spouses in Japan and Germany and some other bases overseas (not all overseas bases allow accompany orders).

Amazing. Dem's will win both. Warnock is giving his acceptance speech now.

Loeffler refuses to concede: "We have a path to victory
Republican incumbent Sen. Kelly Loeffler currently trails challenger Raphael Warnock in the vote count with more ballots expected to come in from heavily Democratic areas that will likely increase her deficit. Speaking at a GOP event just after midnight, Loeffler stated that there were "a lot of votes out there" and that she would be headed to Washington, D.C., where she has said she will object to President-elect Joe Biden's win in November's presidential election.

Looks like Graham's prediction of the GOP being doomed by Trump are coming true before our very eyes.

Regardless, even with Shumer in charge they won't get the wilder hopes of the 'squad' or Kamala
through he senate. Manchin & Sinema aren't going to vote for packing the court or making PR
& Washington DC states. And Pierre Delecto, Ben Sasse as much as they despise Trump won't
go against their parties to vote for policies which further Democratic domination.
Maybe you dont realize it, but many many Democrats are looking for balance. Not far-left domination. We are not a homogenous group. People here know, if they take the time to look at individual issues discussed, that this little slice of America here doesnt display a monolithic view of an ideology (except for a few). I am certainly one of those that holds several more right-leaning positions.

However the monolithic acceptance of every single lie and act and behavior of The Donald certainly does stain the right. IMO. It has created enormous distrust.

Thankfully we were and are 'homogenous' in making sure The Donald is gone.

No. Dem's will chair and control all committees.

Do you have an example of a single (still) Republican in House or Senate worthy of reelection?

None of them voted to impeach Trump (except for Mitt who is not running for reelection and looked for position from Trump after Trump badmouthed him)

I fear that even if Ossoff pulls off a victory here we will regularly hear "All the republicans and Joe Manchin voted against..."
Yeah, but regardless Schumer now runs the Senate - we control the floor & set the agenda. That a really, really, big deal. Just start with nominations, if you don't believe me.? Biden's nominations are now automatic, if they are reasonable. Ditto for judges. And D.C. & P.R. statehood is ours, if we so choose.

Well, don't count on it. The problem with a party in full power is that bad stuff happens during that time which then gets blamed on them, and that may actually become a reason in itself why the opposite party gets elected the next time. It's a never-ending tug of war.

Can you imagine the glee in the GOP's eyes if a recession happens to hit in the next 2 years?
True. But, a lot can get done in two years.
