[W:1296] PUTIN FEARS COUP Russian tanks in Moscow to ‘secure Kremlin’ as cowering Putin fears Wagner group are launching coup to overthrow him

This is just unreal.

Wagner’s armored columns moving toward Moscow appear to have reached the Lipetsk region in central Russia. The vehicles are traveling on federal highways and seem to be avoiding city centers, many of which have been fortified by local military garrisons. A video posted on social media on Saturday and verified by The New York Times shows a column of military vehicles believed to be loyal to Wagner near the Lipetsk town of Elets, about 250 miles south of Moscow.

So they’ll be in Moscow in like 3-4 hours

This is surprisingly effective in providing some moral clarity.

Tough week for dictators and wannabe dictators.

American propaganda is trying to portray this as a coup attempt against Putin. Which is totally false, you won't find any statements against Putin made by Wagner/Pirgozhin.

[...]
Like fine wine.

Wagner is calling for regime change in Russia. They are explicitly denouncing Putin, not just the MOD.

I actually have shit I need to do, but I can't pull away. The most important thing in the world is happening right now.

It's a truly remarkable state of affairs where not doing the bad thing isn't an option. It's essentially the position that elected Republican politicians find themselves in right now.

It's always something crazy in right wing media. They just can't be normal.

Have any of the crazy ones chimed in?

“Oh, I haven’t been keeping up……”

Definitely feels like we are watching history unfold

Rebel Russian mercenaries barrel towards Moscow

Mutinous Russian mercenary fighters barrelled towards Moscow on Saturday after seizing a southern city overnight, with Russia's military firing on them from the air but seemingly incapable of slowing their lightning advance.

Facing the first serious challenge to his grip on power of his 23-year rule, President Vladimir Putin vowed to crush an armed mutiny he compared to Russia's Civil War a century ago.

The fighters of the Wagner private army run by former Putin ally Yevgeny Prigozhin were already most of the way to the capital, having captured the city of Rostov and set off on an 1,100 km (680 mile) race to Moscow.

Reuters saw troop carriers and a flatbed truck carrying a tank careening past the city of Voronezh more than half way to Moscow, where a helicopter fired on them. But there were no reports of the rebels meeting any substantial resistance on the highway.

Ah yes, the domino theory. That should have died decades ago when Vietnam showed how blatantly wrong it was
I don't see it that way, it's now more like the Sudetenland theory.

I don't know that answer but could you explain that a bit more, why would their presence in Ukraine before the war be a factor now?
If they were fighting Ukraine before, who is saying that they wouldn’t go back and pick up that fight.

WAGNER GROUP HAS APPLIED FOR NATO MEMBERSHIP!

/S;)

What's scarier than Puitin, is Yevgeny Prigozhin at the top

Though I don't think 50,000 is going to be enough to oust Putin.

It's a tense situation, yes.

Either way Putin is damaged politically. The Ukraine needs to take FULL advantage.

Somebody just framed this in a way that simplifies what's happening right now: this is a gangster fight. All we can do is hope that whichever gangster wins is the saner one.

Or savvy, at least.
