That such a person will be able to get the power necessary to do more than Putin has done? That others around him will not stop him from doing something so unbelievable stupid? That this person (currently not known to exist) will suddenly rise to the top and get so much power in just a few days or weeks?

Ridiculous fear thinking. No wonder we have so many problems here in the U..S. This kind of fear thinking is everywhere. Heck, the Mexicans, the Muslims or even the Democrats are going to get hold of our nation and destroy it, right?

Gee, after years of being told that the West wants to carve the country up? After years of idiots in the West openly fantasizing about exactly that? Wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest.

And in the middle of an all out civil war, the number of people actually able to stop such a step would be minimal.

I took from the Tweet that Wagner was entering Rostov. They entered last night and took control of the military headquarters this morning.

what's the alternative?? let a strong man (who has been killing and maiming Ukrainian kids) just invade a country? which other country would be next?

Yes, but that would have required calling out the National Guard. The PResident is the only elected official allowed to call out the National Guard inside the District of Columbia. And he dithered, delayed, and stalled.

Having a large mercenary force taking over cities in Russia only strengthens Putin’s efforts.
