Voting should be one day and in person, here's why:

How about they sign a power of attorney to someone to vote on their behalf. Then show the document at the poll to vote for them.
Why not a mail-in ballot? Mail-in absentee ballots have been used for years with no problems. The fragile cons lose and all of sudden things have to change? I don't think so. I also don't think Covid-19 should be used as an excuse for healthy people still to use the mail-in ballot, but it was reasonable during a highly contagious and deadly pandemic before a vaccine.

Bottom line on voting:
Liberals are ALWAYS looking for excuses.
Sorry, YOU FOLKS are making the excuses. Imagine denying service personal overseas the right to vote. The elderly. The infirm. US citizens working abroad. Ex-pats.
That is some SICK thinking and if you stopped to really think about it: WHO do the elderly vote for? WHO do service personal vote for? WHO do ex-pats voter for? I would guess you would lose a LOT of Republican votes.

Not to mention, there’s already a struggle to find poll workers as it is
The cons will be filling that role, because they've intimidated and threatened anyone else form doing it. Be prepared for an actual rigged election from the cons in some areas at least.

1 day with no police, fire or ambulance services? Sure, what could go wrong?
Channe79 just threw it out there with no depth of thought, stupid is as stupid does.

Not all change is necessary, or good.
I feel the left has benefited greatly with early, mail in, and absentee voting.
It's not an equal playing field.
If the shoe was on the other foot, the left would rightfully be wanting changes.
And here you are admitting your real goal. Stopping as many people from the left from voting as possible. Everything else is you just fashioning tangential excuses as to why it should happen.

If we only had day of, in person voting, and if we moved the voting age up to 25, the country would much more red.
This is not a conspiracy but a result of maturity. Not sure why the left is afraid of letting only mature people vote.

How exactly does it benefit the left?
You do realize that it was the right that started mail in voting, yes?
And for it to benefit the left, the rules would need to be skewed to favor the left, which it does not, since anyone of any party can use mail in voting, or early voting.
This is bullshit grievance because fact is, the more votes cast, the better it is for the democrats, and the republicans just want to suppress the vote, since it is the only way they can "win".
Such a bullshit argument.

It would give a true picture of where the nation is on one particular day and in unison.
Early voting ensures people make a decision before new information is presented.
Voting by mail is suspect because of the logistics - this applies to both parties.
If you're away on vacation or business on voting day - TOUGH LUCK.
Voting is a choice and a right, but the citizen has to put effort as well.
The only exception is our soldiers and fed employees who should vote where ever they're stationed, but in person.
Voting Day should become a mandatory holiday so every citizen has a chance to vote in person.

What say you ?
Really stupid idea. None of your “reasons” justifies the notion.

Should we start voting the day after election then?
Voting day is voting day. Why all the special BS
Just to give you a case of the sadz.
I mean really it is all about ****ing your feelings on the subject.
Any other stupid questions?

So you literally just want to suppress votes from people you don't like?

Why not just say if you vote democrat you can't vote?

I say none of those are good reasons. Not a single one.

Because we have decided, as a country, that 18 is the age where we will send our young adults to die for this country and to enter into legal contracts, so they're also allowed to vote.

Would you like to move the age of "maturity" in the country to 25? Including service in the military?

Or are you ok with 18-year-olds spilling their blood for you...just as long as they don't vote in a way you'd disagree with?

It would give a true picture of where the nation is on one particular day and in unison.

Why is it important to get a 'true picture' of the nation on a single particular day? What makes that day so special?

Early voting ensures people make a decision before new information is presented.

And new information can come out after an election. This is not a good reason.

Voting by mail is suspect because of the logistics - this applies to both parties.

As others stated, this has been done in this country since the Civil War and some do it completely by mail.

If you're away on vacation or business on voting day - TOUGH LUCK.

Or working a job where your boss refuses to let you off early to vote? This strict schedule only hurts the working class. But that would be your intention, wouldn't it?

Voting is a choice and a right, but the citizen has to put effort as well.

That doesn't mean you put up unnecessary barriers to vote.

The only exception is our soldiers and fed employees who should vote where ever they're stationed, but in person.

And the elderly and physically disabled?

Voting Day should become a mandatory holiday so every citizen has a chance to vote in person.

Yes, it should be a holiday. We agree, finally. Guess which party is would likely support and oppose the holiday...

If people change their minds from day to day, they can from hour to hour

Early voting ensures people make a decision before new information is presented.
True but it would rarely change anyone minds and the same could be said if the voting day was moved up or back by even 1 day.
Voting by mail is suspect because of the logistics - this applies to both parties.
No, it isn't

If you're away on vacation or business on voting day - TOUGH LUCK.
So you think people should be disenfranchised? What about someone who has an urgent medical procedure scheduled for voting day? Just F*** their health and vote or disenfranchise them? there are a myriad of reasons why someone can't vote in person on election day.
Voting is a choice and a right, but the citizen has to put effort as well.
Yes, and early voting requires effort as well
The only exception is our soldiers and fed employees who should vote where ever they're stationed, but in person.
Why?
Voting Day should become a mandatory holiday so every citizen has a chance to vote in person.
Ok but it doesnt mean early voting shouldn't exist
What say you ?
That you have given no good reason to support your idea

Link to your evidence of people casting an early vote based on the first debate and then regretting that vote.
I have no link, but I can tell you that in Maine back when Libby Mitchell was going up against Paul Lepage, we had an independent running and there were a lot of people that voted early for Libby, an about a week before the election it looked like the tide was turning to elect the independent candidate. There are a lot of folks that wished they could have gone back and voted for him instead to keep LePage out of office. But admittedly that is antidotal, at best. Mr. LePage was our Gov for two terms and never got 50% of the vote due to 3rd party candidates.
But as it would turn out, it might have been better to have suffered through 8yrs of LePage than to have voted in that independent guy, since he was busted for Kiddie porn a year or so ago.
Blech.

If we want to raise the age of maturity to 25, fine.
The difference is, one is a personal choice that doesn't effect me.
The other, voting, effects me and my family.
I hate that some 18 year old gender studies clown at Berkley offsets the vote of a hard working middle class husband/wife with two kids and a mortage.

Uh oh. You've done it now. If they won't raise the age for purchasing assault weapons, why raise it for voting?

Sure. One day. In person. If you work long hours, tough shit. No vote for you. Out of town? Oh well. Maybe you can be a citizen next time. Meh. Voting shouldn't be convenient or easy. Hell no. One polling place per county. If you can't get there then we don't need your vote anyway.

We get it.

You feel as though the opinion of those you agree with is more valuable than those you do not agree with. And would happily disenfranchise those you don't agree with in order to get your way.

In fact, you will advocate disenfranchising those you disagree with - even if they are a majority - JUST so you can get your way.
