Voting should be one day and in person, here's why:

We could have drop boxes in all retirement homes and hospitals.
This is logistically doable !
You WANT retirement homes and hospitals to secure drop boxes??????? Or are you suggesting invading retirement homes and hospitals with carefully selected poll watchers?
Maybe you WANT drop boxes shipped to all of our service people overseas as well?

It's an unfair advantage because mail in voting is subject to fraud, and early voting encourages mostly liberals and moderates to vote before all the evidence is in. Case in point, there were a lot of on the fence Americans who voted for Biden after the first debate where Trump looked horrible. In the second debate, however, Trump was composed and many Americans regretted voting for Biden.
Look at where that early voting has gotten us: A failing economy and a depressed nation !
Nonsense.

But, I'd say the reverse is also true.

I voted for Trump. And, given his actions after election day, I'd very much like to have my ballot back so I could take that vote back.

I don’t like people that flat out sh*t on a process and system that my beloved friends and family have defended with their blood. And had I known he was going to act like a petulant toddler, I’d have never cast that vote.

Would you like to add a window after election day where people can go and change their votes also? Because I’d bet there are millions like me that cast that vote and would like to take it back.

I guess the elderly, shut-ins, the disabled are shit out of luck then.
Or folks like me and all of my Election Day Poll Worker Crew. We are all going to be working out of our Precincts on Election Day and if not for Early or Absentee voting none of us would get to vote.

Never ceases to amaze me how so many R-wingers, it seems, are so hell bent on disenfranchising as many eligible Electors as they possibly can.

Link to your evidence of people casting an early vote based on the first debate and then regretting that vote.

I missed the very important NH primary in 2002 because I was on bedrest for 2 months before my doctor admitted me that morning to have a scheduled c-section to save my life and that of my child. I should have said "No, I need to squeeze in this kid and go cast my vote" apparently, instead of doing the smart and responsible thing of completing an absentee ballot before the election, knowing I would miss it. How dare I do that?

I’m sure there was a few.

Not nearly enough to have changed the outcome.

And not nearly as many as would like to reverse their votes for Trump after his behavior post-election day.

I'm sure not 7 million people, which was the margin by which Biden beat Trump.

It would give a true picture of where the nation is on one particular day and in unison.
Early voting ensures people make a decision before new information is presented.
Voting by mail is suspect because of the logistics - this applies to both parties.
If you're away on vacation or business on voting day - TOUGH LUCK.
Voting is a choice and a right, but the citizen has to put effort as well.
The only exception is our soldiers and fed employees who should vote where ever they're stationed, but in person.
Voting Day should become a mandatory holiday so every citizen has a chance to vote in person.

What say you ?
Your idea is designed to limit suffrage of the working classes. Combined with limitations on polling places/voting machinery in politically disfavored districts, you've really excelled at voter suppression. Yay you.

I say that's bullshit.

Voting in the USofA should be a three day event.

Friday, Saturday & Sunday. With Friday being a National Holiday.

Many many people, especially in the medical/emergency service field, work 12 hour shifts.

You want TRUE representation - three days, over a weekend, with one day being a National Holiday. Period.
Plus, absentee voting and/or mail-in voting should be legal and fully acceptable in all 50 states (and provinces) within a reasonable post-mark date set by each state.

Hey, I also cast a vote from bed rest before I had my son.

Guess I should have taken the fetal monitors, BP cuffs, IVs, etc with me to the polling place? Rather than simply having the nurse roll over the hospital tray table and prop me up with some pillows and a pen.

Wonder if they would have sent me via a transport ambulance or if it would have been like “gee, we told you bedrest except to use the bathroom…but go ahead, worst that can happen is you have a stroke and your baby dies in utero”

The ridiculousness of this idea is just astounding.

BECAUSE they suck the juice Trump feeds them.

Not all change is necessary, or good.
I feel the left has benefited greatly with early, mail in, and absentee voting.
It's not an equal playing field.
If the shoe was on the other foot, the left would rightfully be wanting changes.

So your only reason for wanting only one day of in person voting and to deny millions of people the right to vote is because any other ways of voting benefits those who have a different view from you. So your solution is to take the right to vote from people who have a different view from you. You don't want a government honestly represented by the people. You want one that only has your views.

Guess what? That's not a democratic republic.

Did you ever stop to think that you and your views are the minority in this nation? Your views are the minority and personally, I'm very sick and tired of the minority trying to cheat to win an election.

No one is stopping a republican from using mail in ballot, early voting and absentee voting.

If you don't want to use those other ways to vote then don't but stop trying to dictate how other people vote.

What is it with republicans wanting to force everyone to do what republicans do?

Do what you want. It's called FREEDOM.

Stop trying to take everyone else's freedom from them.

Also, my state is 100% mail in voting, we have a lot of ballot boxes all over the state for anyone who wants to put one in that ballot box. Ballot harvesting is legal here in fact I've put my ex's and other people's ballot in that drop box with mine countless times, the return envelope has prepaid postage for those who want to put it in the mail so they don't have to pay the postage and we have up to 3 weeks to vote.

Horror of horrors. We do everything in our power to get as many people in my state to vote as possible so we can have a government honestly represented by the people. The result is a republican can't win a state wide election and republicans have very little power in my state. That's what you are so scared to death of. Democrats voting so that the United States is honestly represented by the people. So you want voting laws that prevents most of the people in our nation from being able to vote.

That is never going to happen.

Nope. Over 80% of AZ votes by mail, and the system works. I mailed out my ballot a few days ago, I got an email and a text the next day showing that it was received, and a few hours later another email and text showing that my signature was verified.

Not everyone can make it to the polls, work, illness, etc.

Imagine the day the government takes HIS right to vote away, then we will hear a different sort of bleating.

Bottom line on voting:
Liberals are ALWAYS looking for excuses.

I actually submitted my absentee ballot a few weeks before since I was on bedrest and knew that no matter what, I wouldn't be able to vote in person.

It sounds like you and I are just irresponsible Americans!

Police, Fire, and MES work on federal holidays - even today.
This is a false assertion. No American is more than 30 minutes away from the nearest polling station - there's no reason fire/ems/police couldn't vote. Heck, I wouldn't mind if they were allowed to vote in their own stations.
This is a lie
