Whoops, I totally scewed up! LOL, I'm a Conservative. If I was a bible thumper, I'd call myself very Conservative.
By the way how do you think DP leans?
DP probably is fairly center that will lean to the right a bit. Although recently we have had an influx of partisan hacks from both side making it hard to debate anything.
I would say that overall the site leans slightly conservative. At least the conservatives tend to have the loudest (and as far as I can tell angriest) voice.
Mega, you were supposed to pick YOUR political lean. lol
:failpail:
Can a Mod capitalize "YOUR" in the poll question for me?

I am of course a far left tree hugging, flag burning, troop hating, terrorist loving liberal, and proud of it.
I'm a conservative in the truest sense. Unfortunately, most people think that conservatism is composed of religious wing-nuts and military zealots, something I'm certainly not. I'm a conservative in the Goldwater sense, not in the neo-conservative sense. Those people are just extremist religious fiscal liberals in disguise.
Hell if I know... that's why I'm asking
With over 9000 members here it would be impossible to make an accurate guess... but I'll guess the average is near the middle

I know my question sounded stupid. However people seem to post leans that don't always fit their posts in my opinion. I was wondering how people perceive the lean or lack of on DP.
As Right mentioned, we used to have a page with user stats that was really cool, which showed that the board had overall more conservative members than liberals, but not by a large margin. Those numbers where for the life of the board, so that may be different now(though I doubt it).
Why did they get rid of that? Bring it back DP admin!
Wondering why Libertarian is under "Very Liberal". That's odd.
I am fiscally conservative, socially liberal = Libertarian

I have been called a liberal pretty often on other forums. Which is sometimes true when it comes to certain issues. I think this is partly because I sometimes defend Obama or the Democrats while disagreeing with the Republicans... this is mostly because when it comes to the economy I'm willing to give the Democrat's plan a chance, thinking that an economy cannot turn around over night. Of course if the economy gets worse again then my defensive position will change quickly. I am fiscally conservative in a sense of believing in having a surplus and no debt... but I do feel that certain government programs are important, or at the very least are worth investing in. This is obviously on a case by case basis.
When it comes to social issues I often stand in the middle or take the side lines... I recognize that people have different opinions and I more often than not am in favor of compromises.
For example:
- I'm neither strongly for nor strongly against gay marriage since it doesn't effect me, but I think at the very least gay couples should be able to get civil unions and get the benefits from that.
- I'm against abortion, but I wouldn't ban abortions. As I said in another thread, I'd simply prefer people to choose life (the life of the child). The main exception is if mother's life would be threatened.
- When considering people's personal freedoms I'm in favor of legalizing marijuana, but when considering the overall progression of a society, I'd prefer people chose not to use drugs. Still, I'd let each state decide for themselves.
- I don't know if climate change is caused by human activity, but I still think we should be investing in renewable energy. If we don't, we'll be missing out on a huge export opportunity and we'll be buying more things from over seas.
Do these things sound moderate?
