Nope. I don't believe for a second that those things are required in our current reality. If one of the candidates decided to run a campaign completely void of any of those things, I think that he would have the same or better chance of winning than he would by participating is dishonest tactics simply because the truth is as damning and sometimes even more so than the lies that campaigns tell.Doesn't have to be doesn't mean it is.
It doesn't have to be a world where we tell people not to share their personal information online with everyone they see....doesn't change the fact that "you shouldn't share your personal information with everyone online".
Just because it doesn't have to be a world where misinformation, unprincipled actions, and irrationality is required to some degree to win elections doesn't change the fact that those things ARE pretty much required in our current reality.

This isn't about political correctness as much as it is the pot calling the kettle black. If Romney had a button saying "Vote White", the Democrats would be up in arms over it. But since it's a black dude's button we're just supposed to say haha and act like it didn't happen?
Better might be "If you voted for the Halfrican-American last time to prove you were not racist this time vote for anybody else to prove you are not stupid."How about a Romney button that says "You tried black, now you gots ta come back!".
Would that be racist?
Context is important. This and the scenario you proposed are completely different.

False. If Romney had a button that says "Vote White!", it would be a major issue no matter the context.

I don't really see what that has to do with what I said. It probably would be a major issue. It's different because this is an attempt at a joke rather than racism, while a button saying "Vote White," would almost definitely be racist.
Eh, I studied political science as well and the reality of the electorate's engagement and disparate views don't imply that dishonest campaigns are required. They imply that dishonest campaigns are easily accomplished. I'm not sure what you mean by "the infrastructure to benefit those running the standard type of campaign."We're just going to have to agree to disagree here. Nothing in my political science history ever has led me to believe what you're saying is true in this current state in time. The electorate is not nearly engaged enough, the infrastructure to benefit those running the standard type of campaign is too large, and the electorate is to disparate in their views to succeed being 100 principled in views and actions and beliefs at all times
Democrats wouldn't care even if it was just an attempt at a "joke". They would be all over it and make it a major issue.
Oh please
This was a inoffensive joke button based on the sexual related phrase once you go black you never go back. If the button said vote black then it would be offensive, just as a button saying vote white would be.
The only people taking offense to this are people wanting to for political reason rather then actually being offended.

I'm not offended by it at all. I'm just saying that the Democrats would make a huge deal out of it if it were the other way around.

And republicans wouldn't be saying they were pulling the race card, making a big deal out of nothing, trying to be PC, or some other such thing?
Not to mention "Vote White" is not anywhere near similar in context, even with what little we have, to this button.
And republicans would be making a huge deal out of the Democrats making a huge deal about it.
What's your point? That both sides can be ****tarded at times? Congratulations, you're correct
It's a mother ****ing joke for ****s sake!
It's a play on words of the "once you go black, you never go back" with regards to ****ing black dudes. I'm sure you know that, but hey just in case.
