Re: UPDATED: Fox Reverses Poll Results To Falsely Claim Most Americans Favor Ending C

All news outlets make mistakes, just the ANIT-Fox people go out and look for their mistakes. People who actually watch it appreciate they go back if they mess up. It happens...

CNN makes a terrible mistake… | UMCSSA

Dont hear anyone fueling the fire with this

Wow! Where'd you find that little nugget?

Oh well I'm sure I just missed all the threads bashing CNN.

By the way. The way I really feel, is mistakes happen. Though this was a big one, if it wasn't for the double standard, it wouldn't be worth more than a passing mention and maybe a chuckle.
However, if Fox did this, we would be talking about it for weeks and it would continue to come up for years to come.
Right now there is a debate of something Rush did in 1992 that doesn't come close to that CNN screw up.

It's obvious you don't watch Stewart. He pokes fun at news. How would people get news from that?

The news they get is the news he is poking fun at. I have heard people say that's the only "news" they watch. College kids.

Re: UPDATED: Fox Reverses Poll Results To Falsely Claim Most Americans Favor Ending C

Limbaugh is talk radio. Stewart is comedy. Even though I agree they are both "entertainers," Limbaugh is a lot more serious in his delivery. He's a talking head. Stewart is a comedian.

Serious or not, they're both entertainment shows that aren't hard news shows. The fact that Limbaugh is on the Radio and comedy is not the main focus of his shtick and Stewart is on TV and comedy one of the main focuses of his doesn't change the fact they're both entertainers commenting on politics. Both use their methods of entertainment...Stewart with more stereotypical mocking comedy, Limbaugh with the use of parody and hyperbole...to try and push/make a political point. If Limbaugh yucked it up more often in a stereotypical comedian fashion would that suddenly make him any less of a talking head? If Stewart started being a bit more serious on the show would he suddenly not be a comedian? Both give opinions and their interpritation of the news and politics in an entertainment focused fashion. Both have people who, rather ignorantly, go to them thinking that they're getting legitimate, honest, hard news. While I in no way consider Stewart a true "news" program, I don't see great offense based on the way he and his show are treated seeing him get much the same treatment with regards to his "member of the media" status than Rush does.

Nothing wrong with enjoying a different approach to news with a certain point of view.

I do watch Stewart, Colbert as well, and you're right...he does poke fun at the news. Rush does too. Doesn't change the fact that routinely when people are asked in polls where they get their "news" from the Daily Show often registers in either a minor or sometimes even a substantial way. Are people dumb with having the Daily Show as their main source of "news"? Sure, much like letting Limbaugh be your main source of "news" is dumb. Doesn't change the fact that many people do claim that though.

Only 1/2 of them vote so I'm not too bothered.

Here is what was said though: Those people should be more careful when they use their material that they air for millions of viewers to watch. Now i believe that it’s an honest mistake, nothing was meant from it, they didn’t mean to offend anyone, but things happen…

Honest mistakes...we are human. We are going to make those and move on.

"Aint no punk ass . . . " Is also in the song - naturally - the only regard was to the 'nigger' that followed.

i don't believe most people think stewart provides legitimate, hard news.

Re: UPDATED: Fox Reverses Poll Results To Falsely Claim Most Americans Favor Ending C

Fox makes a mistake, corrects it 20 minutes later.
Media Matters reports the mistake by cutting out the correction from the video they show as evidence.
Then, so they won't look like total partisan hacks, they post the correction way down at the bottom of the page, where you have to scroll to get to.
Yea, fox ****s up once again and Media Matter nailed them once again.

You're upset because they post **** in chronological order from top to bottom? The same way debate politics does? The same way everyone every where does?:2no4:

Re: UPDATED: Fox Reverses Poll Results To Falsely Claim Most Americans Favor Ending C

Since this is kind of going off topic I'll try to end it on this from me at least Middle :)

I'm not saying Stewart is a news figure. But much like Rush, a substantial amount of people seem to consider himself and the daily show a source of "News" even if they'll simultaneously call it a "comedy show" (much like many who say they get news from Rush will call it an "entertainment show"). While I don't agree with holding Stewart to the level of scrutiny of a Newscaster, I do think he and his show have infiltrated the general political landscape and have been placed...willingly on their part or not...at such a level where they have become a pseudo-portion of the media. As such, mentioning him in such discussions I don't think is egregious.

Is him saying "faux" more understandable due to the TYPE of show he's on? Sure. And Limbaugh saying "environmentalist whacko" is more understandable due to the type of his show he does, but at the same time he'd be brought up in conversation of "insulting rhetoric" by "conservative media types" and as such I don't really have issues with someone like Stewart being brought up on the opposite end of that. They're both, to me, "pseudo" media.

No, I'm upset that they messed with the video to purposely remove the correction.

Re: UPDATED: Fox Reverses Poll Results To Falsely Claim Most Americans Favor Ending C

He is no more, no less an entertainer than limbaugh.

Except that he claims and his network claims to be comedy, i.e. not to be taken seriously. I'm pretty sure Limbaugh, Beck and Maddow think that people think they are being serious.

Re: UPDATED: Fox Reverses Poll Results To Falsely Claim Most Americans Favor Ending C

why can't we all get along?!
:(

Because we have posters like PB. There are decent liberals out there, he's just not one of them. And by all means, please tell me what name I called you. In fact, based on the fact that I didn't call you anything, I wasn't docked anything for it. So HA!

Stick that up your liberal thinkhole.

Yeah, because PB indulges in the most adolescent of partisan name-calling. So unlike we libertarian grown-ups.

Were the people who didn't watch the correction at the end of program misinformed or weren't they? Media Matters shows an actual picture of the corrected graphic and you are complaining? I think they were very generous in that regard.

Re: UPDATED: Fox Reverses Poll Results To Falsely Claim Most Americans Favor Ending C

No, I'm upset that they messed with the video to purposely remove the correction.

Messed with the video? First they made a video of the mess up as it happened. Then at the end of the show they issue a correction. The correction happened a long time after the mess up. You want them to post a 30 minute video with no edits? How in the world could you claim they messed with the video when all they did was leave up the original and then amend the update the post with correction and a full video of the correction. You make no sense. Nothing would make you happy.

We libertarians? I thought you were an "other."

And I didn't call him a name. Please specify what name I called him. Otherwise, I call you what you are, a LIAR.

You really are turning out to be a piece of great honest debate, you know that?

I think that's what you said

I was being ironic. Perhaps that's a little beyond you. You are right, however, I am an 'other', a libertarian socialist, to be precise.

And I didn't call him a name. Please specify what name I called him. Otherwise, I call you what you are, a LIAR.

You called him indecent:
Post 66: There are decent liberals out there, he's just not one of them

Boy, that was easy!

Re: UPDATED: Fox Reverses Poll Results To Falsely Claim Most Americans Favor Ending C

You're right I don't listen to him. I will also agree to the point that Rush does comedy. But he also has a serious side, too. Something that I have not seen with Stewart (apart from his interviews). Look at Rush's website:

The Rush Limbaugh Show is the most listened to radio talk show in America, broadcast on over 600 radio stations nationwide. It is hosted by America's Anchorman, Rush Limbaugh, also known as: America's Truth Detector; the Doctor of Democracy; the Most Dangerous Man in America; the All-Knowing, All-Sensing, All-Everything Maha Rushie; defender of motherhood, protector of fatherhood and an all-around good guy.

And tell me, does Stewart have "an essential stack of stuff" on his website? Of course not.

Regarding the OP: This looks like an error that was corrected in a reasonable amount of time to me.

It might be acceptable as an error were you able to identify, through the years of Fox's existence, an occasion when they erred in the opposite direction; when they made a claim or statement that was mistaken in favour of the more liberal position than they intended. If you are aware of such an 'error', then I might be prepared to believe in the innocence of the 'error' in this case too.
