I'm surprised the major stock indices didn't hit the Earth's core today.Perhaps Biden's more concerned with a major oil shock before November?

Global stock markets tumbled and crude oil prices surged to $99 per barrel on Tuesday after Russia ordered troops into parts of eastern Ukraine."

Unlike Liberals during the Trump administration, i wish for no economic collapses no matter who's in office. And disappointed …

So far, Russia hasn’t done anything to prompt Ukraine to even mobilize its own armed forces. So why the United States and it’s European ally’s have been running around with their hair on fire for weeks is beyond me. I think this whole situation is being blown out of proportion by the media - which doesn’t seem to have a good grasp on what’s going on over there either.Putin invades. What now; are we anticipating escalation to a wider European conflict? As someone once said, 'we live in interesting times'.

I only hope war can be avoided...but the unimaginable seems more probable...so day by dayPutin invades. What now; are we anticipating escalation to a wider European conflict? As someone once said, 'we live in interesting times'.

According to the NYT Russia produces about 10% of global oil supplies and roughly one-third of Europe's gas. Recent events have seen Russian gas flows to Europe drop sharply with much of the shortfall made up by liquefied natural gas from the US:I'm surprised the major stock indices didn't hit the Earth's core today.

Glad you think so, I'm amazed at how knee-jerk reactionary people can be. They think that Ukraine should immediately attack the Russian forces. That's precisely what Putin wants them to do. But they are going to have fight eventually. There is no illusion of what Putin will do, he is hellbent on taking Ukraine. How quickly he will try to do this is in question. He can't be allowed to take one small region after another. This is about as dangerous a situation we can have. There is a special place in hell reserved for Putin, I hope he gets there sooner than later.Nobody is getting 'punked'. This is an extremely delicate and dangerous situation. What did you expect Biden to do, exactly-declare war maybe?
The EU already functions as something like a cooperative economic block, but it appears to be far from independent:Whether Russia annexes more of the territory currently held by Ukraine or not will, at the end of the day, depend upon whether the NATO nations and those nations aligned with them are able to set aside 'Our nation first!' mindsets and form a co-operative economic bloc in opposition to Russia. Doing can entail hardship, something which politicians in democracies, for personal reasons, are loathe to ask of their followers.
We in the United States of America can judge how difficult that may be by considering the popularity of the slogans, 'No new taxes!' and 'America first' in recent years.
Regards, stay safe 'n well.

"The extent of the Obama administration’s meddling in Ukraine’s politics was breathtaking."
The Ukrainian president in 2014 was malignantly corrupt; however, he was duly elected and overthrown by a coup subsidized by the US. As long as neoliberal economics rules in the US and Europe, the vast majority of people in all those countries will continue to be victims of their oligarchs' investments in "the best government money can buy."

So Putin takes Crimea while telling Obama to go pound salt, then Obama's flunky Biden starts his term by giving Putin an oil pipeline and a complimentary lap dance, and Putin now says " Thanks Joe" by taking Ukraine as well , and you think Trump got pushed around ?
Really ?

It seems we have not been as successful at bring down Putin as he has been in undermining America. That is the way to end this, from within.
lol, what? Obviously you are joking. So far, Russia hasn’t done anything to prompt Ukraine to even mobilize its own armed forces. One day after the invasion all markets on Wall Street are up!!

Apparently one thing that never changes is how elite (rich) Americans still haven't met a war they couldn't support?Yes, and after that, Moscow’s man in Kiev, Paul Manafort, had to look for a job.(and figure out how he was going to pay Oleg Deripashka)

"Sen. John McCain (R‑AZ), the ranking Republican on the Senate Armed Services Committee, went to Kiev to show solidarity with the Euromaidan activists. McCain dined with opposition leaders, including members of the ultra right‐wing Svoboda Party, and later appeared on stage in Maidan Square during a mass rally. He stood shoulder to shoulder with Svoboda leader Oleg Tyagnibok."

Well do you think this whole thing could have been avoided if President Biden had gifted Putin 2 "minor incursions " , instead of just 1 ?Own your disgrace.
You cheered for, bloviated about, and made pathetic excuses for the most dishonest, incompetent, authoritarian and disloyal man to ever serve in public office in this country.
Your failed former fuhrer is a disgrace to teh United States and the western world.
The oil pipeline you mention was under construction throughout the Trump presidency. What did he do about it? Nothing!
I don’t know what BS you’re referring to about the “lap dance”. Trump gave Putin on in Helsinki, and the whole world watched the Russian dictator own your fuhrer.
Now, you failed traitor is endorsing the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
No American leader took Hitler’s side in the late 1930’s.
But Trump has no problem with endorsing Putin’s invasion and political brinksmanship.
And you’re here cheering for that. Traitorous. Disgusting, Un American.
Have you no shame at all??????
