Trump's Speech

At least Trump will try, Hillary will only seek to advance the Republicrat agenda.

Trump won't try. He's just going to do whatever makes him look like the baddest man in the room. He's a blowhard. Ultimately, he'll work along the lines of the Republican agenda while trying to make it seem like he's the one and only one making decisions. But he's not going to buck the system. You won't change the status quo by supporting the status quo. Trump is on the GOPs ticket, he will ultimately do what the GOP tells him. But he'll say whatever it is to make himself popular and get play.

Because Gary Johnson is going to be able to change the Republicrat system? He would have an even less chance then Trump.

He's not a Republocrat. He would work earnestly towards achieving the goals of his political platform, which are tried and true as he has executive experience from his time as governor.

Johnson in office would work harder for and has a better chance of changing the Republocrat system than Trump would. Hell, just Johnson being elected would do far more to change the Republocrat system than Trump.

Yeah, Obama's presidency has been terrible and full of mistakes. What's Trump going to do about it? Nothing. He's just some huge blowhard, an egotistical ass with no plan, no clue, and no way to accomplish anything he says he's going to.

He's selling us a bill of goods and some are eating it up.

I agree. This man has never accomplished anything he set out to do.

I doubt he even know how to build a building in New York.

While defining problems is certainly important, as is the projection of (vague?) visions of a "better America", the devil is in the policy (change?) details which must be expressed as bills and passed into law by congress critters. Proposals that increase the cost of the federal government coupled with plans to reduce federal taxation are not likely to fare well among congress critters - at some point you actually have to make dfficult budget choices. This is where Trump falls well short of convincing me that his vision can be implemented into "the law of the land".

The general has just started.

I am sure you will learn more.

Blatant fear-mongering. "America is all screwed up and only I can stop it getting worse!"

That is called accepting reality, its only "Fear-Mongering" if you don't want the truth exposed.

We are $20T in debt
We have $500B year Deficit
We have a $800B year Trade defect
Average income is down $4000 year
We have record number of people on welfare, public assistance.

I'd call that all screwed up and that is just the economic problems.

hahaha...yes our Great Wall will end economic woes.

I'm not opposed to work projects. In fact when the banks broke our economy with reckless leveraging that ended up biting them in the ass, I felt that instead of billions and billions of dollars being thrown at the banks, we should have invested in works projects. Our infrastructure is crumbling and we need to get things fixed. So America would have come out better for it, having fixed bridges and roads and such, the People would have come out better since that money would be used for wages of far greater people building towards fixing some of our stuff instead of in the hands of a few bankers.

But alas, our system no longer works in those ways. To the banks and to wallstreet go the spoils. And Donald Trump is almost as corporate as Hillary Clinton. So I don't see the level of work projects in the future that are necessary for rebuilding America.

Trump just offers us words, I wouldn't believe him any more than I would believe Hillary. The wall is just something that gets play, so he says it.

Didn't Obama spend billions on shovel ready projects?

That was supposed to be to rebuild roads and bridges.

Where did that money go and how many people did that put to work?

This is the best summation I've read of it so far: Donald Trump doesn’t want to make America great. He wants to make it afraid. - Vox

"As Jon Favreau, a former speechwriter for Obama, wrote on Twitter, this was Trump’s "Nightmare in America" speech. The address had one goal, and one goal only: to persuade Americans that their country is a dangerous, besieged hellscape, and only Donald Trump can fix it....

And this is what made Trump’s speech so truly ugly. It is one thing to whip up fear of the Other when the Other is a threat. But it is fully another to try to scare the **** out of Americans because you’re afraid they won’t vote for you unless they’re terrified. It is demagogic to warn, on national television, of foreign criminals "roaming" our streets simply because you’re behind in the polls. It’s telling that Trump fears only the threats that can be blamed on outsiders while ignoring the more lethal, more pervasive killers that afflict the citizenry."

The only thing he's got is a false narrative of fear and the suckers who buy into it.

After the past 45 days, if you are living in America and are not at least a little concerned that you are going to get blown up at a mall or other place that people gather, you are extremely stupid.

It's probably good that he didn't use some aphorism like "If a person works hard he'll get ahead in life," or "America is the land of the free and the home of the brave." He'd be accused of plagiarism. Not that real people even care about plagiarism.

Wow! Obama made mistakes and Hillary is not perfect. Stop the presses.

That's not a speech. It's a whine.

Trump speaks the truth on the trade deficit, the national debt, the decline of the average workers salary, the increase in poverty etc, etc and the Democrats say he is spreading fear and hate. The truth is the Democrats don't want the truth to be known. We are supposed to just all be full of hope and change, everything is going great and we all appreciate their benevolence.

Why would we expect to change how he does things now from the way he has done things for the past 30 years?

I don't understand why people say he is selfish and greedy while at the same time saying Hillary is the best person to be President.

At least Trump will try, Hillary will only seek to advance the Republicrat agenda.

Don't you mean Hillary will only seek to fill her pockets with more money?

I think he spent billions on the banks and more billions blowing up pieces of the ME with drones.

Things I worry about:
1. Some idiot running me over while I pedal my bike
2. Some idiot running into me while I drive my car
3. Waking up and finding a lump where one does not belong
4. A sudden sharp pain in my chest and numbness in my left arm
5. Gaining weight or developing bleeding gums or loose teeth

Things I do not worry about

1. Being attacked by Blacks
2. Being robbed, raped or murdered by anyone
3. Being struck by lightening
4. Earthquakes
5. Being blown up at the mall

Good for you.

I am sure most of the 49 dead in Orlando thought the same before the shooting started.

I play the odds. I have a better chance of winning the lottery than being blown up by a terrorist. But, I could easily be hit by a car tomorrow morning or get diagnosed with cancer the next time I get one of those check-ups I always put off until next year.

Uh...OK. I have no idea how that pertains to what I posted.

I'm not at all concerned with being blown up in a mall because I am not an idiot. I am far more likely to be killed by a car while trying to cross the street than I am by a bomb from a terrorist.

What sort of idiot would run around in fear of the highly improbable act of being blown up by a terrorist? While it could happen, statistically it's not the major loss mechanisms one faces on a daily basis.

It still beats 4-8 more years of the same. What is the definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

Ah, yes, the leftist way of things. Repeating the same old mistakes, doing the same old thing, the same old liberalism, the same old candidates. LOL Leftists never learn, they're stuck on stupid and stupid is their primary goal. To make America a socialist cesspool.

It's obvious the leftists didn't watch DJT's speech last night. It was great, full of optimism for the future, and reached out to every American. Actually, it was quite Libertarian, if you ask me. More so than any other GOP'er has given in recent history, I might add. But the dour hateful left, they're still stuck in the same old mode.

I didn't say run around in fear but the point was that Trump was not correct to point out the fact that the country is not safe.

Looking at the past 45 days has proven him right, and I am sure there is more to come.

Yes, I remember thinking what a terrible hellscape this nation has become while driving to the mall, sharing the road with shiny new SUVs being driven, no doubt, but desperate people who are working part time just to make ends meet. The parking lot at the mall was pretty crowded, no doubt because people are living in their cars since the economy is in such bad shape. Inside the mall, people were pretending to buy consumer goods of all kinds, but were only paying with little pieces of plastic, not real money. Yes, indeedy, the country is in bad shape. I was sure the whole time that violence would break out at any time. If only someone would build a fence to keep the rest of the world out, maybe America could be great again, kind of like it was back in the '30s before all of the government goodies started being handed out. It made me think of a song, "Boy the way Glenn Miller played/ Songs that made the hit parade/ guys like us we had it made/ Those were the days!"

Those were indeed the days, and Trump will bring them back. You can count on it. It will be huge.

We were never safe, we are not meant to be safe. We are free instead.

The bolded explains your rant and your perspective. Might want to take a trip to a few places where the folks who can't afford to shop at the mall do their shopping.

I don't think Hillary Clinton seeks to line her pockets here. She has her spouse and daughter to maintain the work of the Clinton Foundation and to earn speaking fees on the lecture circuit. No, this is about power acquisition, power for its own sake.
