What was the point? He was the one who rescinded DACA protections and now offers to extend DACA for 3 years with fewer protections than before? He knew it was a dead deal before he even offered it. DACA is already tied up in the courts and with the current strain on the immigration system from the Central America humanitarian crisis, hunting down and deporting law abiding young people who were brought here illegally a decade or two ago is not going to be a big priority for the next few years. Trump's deal was on par with saying the steel slats were a concession to Democrats. There is nobody on Pelosi's side who would put pressure on her to accept such a deal, and only those firmly in Trump's base would see this as an actual attempt at compromise.
