Jan. 9 (UPI) -- President Donald Trump said Wednesday that he ordered the Federal Emergency Management Agency to cut off relief money for California as the state recovers from the deadliest wildfires in its history.

"Billions of dollars are sent to the State of California for Forest fires that, with proper Forest Management, would never happen," Trump tweeted Wednesday. "Unless they get their act together, which is unlikely, I have ordered FEMA to send no more money. It is a disgraceful situation in lives & money."

Was listening to a radio broadcast today where a very humorous American lawyer was making a case for halting all payments to D.C., until the government re-opens. He said it's entirely legal for companies to stop withholding and remitting when there was no "remitted" government service.

Not sure, but it should make somebody's nuts shrivel...a tax revolt would be, well like a cherry on the chocolate of the ice cream sundae

Yes, companies too, individuals too, but states first and foremost, because his attacks specify cutoff of federal funds and that will continue even if government reopens until he rescinds the order.

And California will need to use its own money to make up for the missing federal monies.

President Trump has a point. The greenies have demanded the forests be left untouched and let nature take it's course. Natures course is removing unwanted materiel with fire. Some trees have seeds that only activate after a fire.

Whether or not that should translate to cutting off aid to citizens in need is debatable and a separate issue.

Didn't California's political class decide to ignore federal laws? Why should they get tax payer money while ignoring the red tape that comes with Federal money? If California is willing to protect criminal aliens, what other type of criminal behavior do they protect? There is all kind of PC nonsense that comes with federal money. Should all states be allowed to ignore any PC regulation they choose and still get Federal money?

If we use your mentality the world would be like this...people speed lets completely stop selling cars....people swear lets stop everyone talking. Putting a complete stop is not the answer.
