Bin Laden thought the U.S. would withdraw troops from the Middle East if he attacked in spectacular fashion because he had seen previous presidents pull troops out after such attacks, i.e. Reagan in Lebanon and Clinton in Somalia.

I guess time will tell what was actually accomplished and what comes next.

What comes next will be revolution in Iran.

What comes of that is always a concern. The Mullahs are done - what will replace them? A peaceful democracy? Sort of doubtful. It won't be radical Islam - but beyond that I have no real predictions to offer.

I think it is premature to be patting ourselves on the back and saying that this was a decisive victory and now Iran isn’t a threat for X years, etc.

You are only miffed that Trump did this. You can't stand a win for Trump and would almost prefer nuclear war.
