Trump has now fallen below 50% US-wide.

More than 153 million votes are now counted.

California has almost all their votes counted, but around 1 million still is left there.

And in all other states, maybe another 1-2 million are left.

States have until December 11 to finish counting and release their official results to Congress, for the vote of the electoral college.

the question becomes .... how long is too long ?

3 hours?
30 hours?
3 weeks?
3 months ?

its not infinity ..... there are deadlines to cast votes, there should be deadlines to COUNT votes too ... its very important to be exact and timely as well

if most places can get the counting done in 24-48 hours, the ones that cannot have serious problems that need addressed
Yeah, they've set deadlines. Those already exist.

It's counter productive as a spectator's sport.

Counter productive things have the world on the very edge of disaster, incase you had not noticed.

The US, as the world's clear leader needs to speak with one voice, now more than ever. We need to have a clear message to end wars and conflicts, to settle trade disputes.

Wars are the most counterproductive things ever, not setting the table to share our prosperity with the rest of the world is what is driving them.

We have it within our grasp to call for a meeting of great nations an settle these disputes, to usher in a new era of trade and growth for all, but we can't speak with one voice because people won't accept the election is over and there was a winner, and the winners get to lead.

Just because the winners get to lead, doesn't mean they get to shut out the voices of those who lost, but those voices need to be respectful guidance not obstructionism and campaigning.
It doesn't matter what you think, quit living in denial. The votes cast need to be counted, that's the end of it.

So you are posting from the count rooms?

Knock yourselves out!

Your non sequitur is pretty dumb. You're upset that we're counting, verifying, and auditing all the votes. That's all there is to it. Quit living in denial, all votes cast are to be counted.

revisit them - make it much shorter then

because waiting 10-14 days or more ?

unacceptable

That California is still counting votes two weeks after the election is something that should outrage everybody. Democrats included

Trump had a 4%-lead nationally on election night (51-47).

But in the end, with most mail-states (who lean heavily D) finishing their count soon, Trump's national lead has been cut from 4% to 1.5% ...

This is not ideal.

In my opinion, all votes should be counted on election day, or the day after.

California and Co. shouldn't be allowed to count votes for 5 weeks after election day. They should be mandated by the Supreme Court to change their election laws, so that all votes are counted immediately on election day and the day after.
No not SCOTUS, the responsibility lies on Congress.

Seems it only outrages MAGATS.

Why is that? Why doesnt it bother you? Lemme guess, because its a democrat state showing its incompetence. If this was Florida there would be ten threads filled with leftist outrage.

Ummmm…no, it’s the MAGATS who don’t like every vote being counted. Too bad. It’s not up to them.
Every vote in every state should be counted according to the rules that each state has adopted.

Covering for democrat incompetence. Thats a good look for you. Keep it up.

It's not going to matter in the long run. First the EC isn't going to change. Second, Trump still leads Harris in the popular vote even if he didn't capture half.

The ballots cast need to be counted, but there will be no change to the results.

I disagree. If it turns out that more than half of America voted for someone other than Trump, it's good for optics. At this point even that is a plus.

It won't drastically change how the next 4 years play out, i agree, but it is good from a branding perspective for whoever comes next. It speaks against the idea that the majority of Americans support Trump. They don't. That could lead to a slightly more chill approach to policy on his part.

The uselectionatlas site now has Trump at 49.94% nationwide. Link

That site is 100k votes out of date. I just did a search for “election results” in Bing.
