Trump addressed the National Prayer Breakfast this morning and had his arch enemy (Pelosi) sitting 4 chairs away.

A simple gesture of reconciliation and a few kind words could have worked wonders towards a beginning of easing the hostilities of the two parties but he chose to be a complete asshole.

Trump then held a Victory Party.

He could have addressed his argument of being targeted by the Democrats and nobody would have argued. He could have been a bit humbled and appreciative. But he had to go right past stupid by trashing on every perceived opponent in the Democrat party. I agree with many that the democrats set the bar way too low for impeachment, and I always will. But the way he acted today was one of the reasons that I always believed that he didn't deserve the office to begin with.............as I have stated many times on here.

I know that I am getting older, but I miss the days of Reagan (R) and Tip O'niell (D) going loggerheads all week long, and then playing cards together upstairs of the White House at night and actually finding compromises along the way.

The Regressive Left has declared war on America and on truth and on decency with no intention of negotiating a cease fire....And Trump is not a Chump like most of the legacy Republicans were....those cucks who betrayed the values that they claimed to hold for so many years as they lied constantly..

The Good Old Days you pine for have not existed for a very long time.

I agree. There was a time when Republicans and Democrats did work together for the common good. Those days seem to have gone away. If anything, the political hate from both sides has gotten worse. Each blaming the other side. In the end, it will be the average American who gets hurt.

Agreed, but like the members who have drank the Kool-Aid in the Party of Trump say "Trump is just being Trump". I hope no one here really believed Trump would be repentant, apologetic or "learned his lesson". Is there really any doubt he'd be the pissed-off Enfant Terrible, venom-spewing hater he always proved to be?

Awesome! You're the second Trump fan today who applauds the destruction of the Republican party. The $64 question is "What is your name for the new party?"

Will it have Trump's name on it? Will it reflect Trump's German heritage? His race?

The Grand Old Party needed to be destroyed so that REAL Republicans could retake control. Not ones like McCain and Romney.

The Kurds were not the reason Bush went to war.

In every speech about Iraq, including his speech effectively declaring war, Bush talks about the victims of genocide and mass graves under Saddam. Do you know why there was a no-fly zone?

Here Nancy Pelosi was sitting 4 chairs from the President and didn't apologize for her behavior at the SOTU. She could have worked wonders towards a beginning of easing the hostilities of the two parties but she chose to be a complete asshole. What a bitch. She totally blew it.

Good.

Did you forget the part in the beginning of his presidency he tried to be very magnanimous, and got bit the hand for it? Did you forget the part where he tried to work with the Democrats and they insulted him and told him to pound sand after they took the House? I dont. I say good. I hope he is petty toward the Democrats and slaps them down every chance he gets. They earned it. Let them beg him to stop. Let them make the first move to reconciliate. Until then the Democrats can go **** themselves.

You are entitled to your opinion, but I don't see the democrats doing anything to make the situation anything but worse. That's been what they have done since the man announced he was running. The media doesn't portray many of the events between Trump and Pelosi accurately. Such as the blow up in the Oval office, she called him a phony President he called her a third rate politician.
Chuck and Nancy think the President should capitulate on every stance to please the left, ain't gonna happen.

I am worth the effort, and like Trump I need to have my fun.....for while I am Zen I am not assuming that I get to do life again....I make this one count.

Try reading a second time and maybe even a third...sometimes that helps.

If only Pelosi weren't criminally insane...

There are no Tip O'Neills left among the Democrats. McGovern and Mondale would be too moderate for them. JFK would be a raving fascist.

In 1980 when Reagan won he hobbled the Democrats. That is when the new term known as "Reagan Democrat" came to be. Democrats were a part of his victory against Jimmy Carter. The 4 years under Jimmy were not good for the country. People were hurting. Interest rates to purchase vehicles, homes, were outrageous. Hubby and I purchased our first home during that time and interest rates were between 17 - 18 % on conventional loans and a little lower on VA loans but it came with a 30 year mortgage. To finance a car I remember to be around 14%. Small businesses were going under by the thousands. I know that is when my father's business he worked for years to build up had to close down. One of the reasons is a good part of his business was contracts with the government. The problem with that is they didn't pay their bills on time. While people focus on corporations, small business is the he of our economy. Gas prices soared resulting from the administration's policies. Like I said earlier people were hurting. In the 1980 election Democrats lost 23 seats, but still controlled the House 244 to 191. In the Senate, Democrats lost 12 seats and gave up control to the Republicans by a margin of 53 to 46, with one independent. We had a divided government. Sound familiar?

The difference is Reagan had a decent man O'neil to work with in the House. Trump has Pelosi a person for the past 3 years has done everything she could to undermine his presidency.

If Reagan had faced what Trump has from the left, the establishment and what the Obama administration did to undermine him, I very much doubt Reagan would have extended an olive branch either. Period.

In 1984 Reagan won by a landslide against the progressive Mondale they chose to run. Mondale ended up winning his home state MN. Reagan won every other. And that was after 4 years of Reagan being put under investigation after investigation and a press that were the dear friends of the Democrats reporting story after story derogatory for Reagan. There's plenty of data that shows how much Reagan hated the Washington press.

The only way to bring civility back is for Republicans to take the gavel away from Pelosi. I see a lot of things aligning for Trump as it did for Reagan in 1984. Right now their frontrunner is a Democratic Socialist.

The only thing Trump can do to make the Democrats happy is die and you know it.

That’s some real Bizzaro World ranting. Everything you accuse others of is exactly what Trump does.

Who was the last American president you supported, and why?

Unfortunately for those who don't know what a Libertarian is, the new name won't be Marxist, Socialist or communist. You will have to move to get your ideal government.

Nor would a Libertarian call it Neo-Nazi, Party of Trump or seek anything that restricts the rights of American citizens. You will have to fight a lot of Americans to make Trump President for Life.
