Top CBS lawyer: No sympathy for Vegas victims, 'probably Republicans'

Why in the world should we care when someone that claims to be a moderate wraps themselves in hate over a tragedy and tosses compassion away? Because we are the worse for it.

Jesus christ... she's ONE ****ing person. One. Uno. Why does it matter what she said? You might have a point if she was President or leader of a cult. But she's some twit on Twitter. Why do you treat her like she's soooooooo important?

Here's 10 of them rationalizing or excusing her behavior, instead of just unequivocally condemning what she said.

You quoted me in your asinine post. Tell me, where exactly did I rationalize or excuse her behaviour?

Have we stooped so low that what some idiot says on ****ing Twitter becomes breaking news? I might be missing something... can someone tell me why I should give a rat's ass about this?

Toby Keith is a democrat, and the "country" crowd loves him.

Actually he's an "independent" now - specifically said he's no longer a Democrat. Seems to be a pretty good guy as far as politics goes. I also respect what he's done overseas - the guy has played something like 200 concerts for the troops. Not that big a fan of his music or the whole 'America F Yeah!' stuff, but I respect him quite a bit for doing that!

Yes, but blaming someone for not getting sufficiently outraged at the comments of a nobody just because the media highlight them is sort of silly.
Again we face a difference of opinions. I found her comment despicable.

I have a negative opinion of everyone who does not share my contempt for the sentiment that she expressed.

This guy indiscriminately sprayed bullets into a crowd of innocent people for unknown reasons and her reaction was that it was good that the crowd was most likely a bunch of protrump republicans. She is celebrating the shooters choice of victims. Are you telling me you don't see how wrong that is? Instead of condemning the shooter she is celebrating his target choice. That's about as repugnant as it gets, imo.

it happens all the time when some conservative says something the overly sensitive left doesn't like.

Show me. You know it's one thing when it's a politician and not some nobody on Twitter, right?

yeah, I condemned her comment way back on this thread, repeated what I said to you. But if we go through the day getting outraged at every idiot who says something dumb or offensive on Twitter or Facebook, we'll have a miserable and unproductive life because there are millions of idiots, trolls, morons, sociopaths, etc. online saying dumb and offensive stuff every second of every day, cause that's what people do online. I can't get worked up about her because she's a nobody - never heard her name before yesterday and quite sure I'll never hear it again after this latest passes, which it will.

[/QUOTE]Yes I can and will explain why I included you. What you did not do is condemn what she said with any level of conviction, instead you asked why you should care. That in essence is dismissing the severe moral deficiency of her comment. Your saying what she said is no big deal because you don't know who she is. IMO what she said was a very big deal and the fact that she is a high level lawyer for a communications network does not make her a nobody either.

I like you but I think your wrong to be so dimissive about it.

I can agree with what your saying but again I think what your doing is downplaying the severity of the implications behind her comment. She was talking about one of the worst mass murders I can remember and her cavalier attitude needs to be admonished. I admit I'm being judgemental about this but I believe she deserves it. I don't believe the entire left should be condemned for it but her, you betcha

Look, I didn't set the standards for how this particular little game is played. The left did with their endless virtue signaling. Now that its biting you in the ass, you suddenly are asking the right questions? Too little, too late.

How does she know they are Republicans? She didn't cite any statistics or any information about how she "knows," that country music fans are Republicans. I know plenty of country lifeestylers and even rednecks who are hard-core liberals. Yes, she attacked Republicans, and that was wrong to do so. It is also wrong to assume that country music fans are Republicans.

Its the thought that counts, now isn't it?

I don't know if I would agree that I'm horrified by her horrible comments. It's a sad window into the hearts of some on the left that are full of hate. I condemn her and all that share her views. I think those that try to soft soap her comments are in the wrong.
She is promoting hate against those she disagrees with.

Okay i agree with the spirit of your concern but not the direction of it.

Are you suggesting that leftists should never hate righties, but it's okay for righties to hate lefties? Why is this a left v right issue for you?

As Bannon was exiting the WH he said he was going to 'war'.

The far right can't expect one of their top spokesman to declare war and not expect some return fire from the left and the establishment Republicans.

When at war one has to be just as nasty and vicious as the other side. And there maybe NO ONE more nasty and vicious than Bannon. He is scum, a PoS.

What this woman said was discussing, but it's nothing I haven't heard the far right wish on people who disagree with them, or whose lifestyle they don't like.

Bannon and his minions what to declare 'war'. Then don't get offended when the other side lobs bombs.

She is one ****ing person who works for a media corporation. Is she the message of said corporation? NO. Is is the message for the left? NO. So why do you care and why would this be breaking news? Are we going to start combing through Facebook and Twitter to try and score points for "our side" now? Is that how desperate we've become?

I wish you'd realize how delusional you sound. Wow.

Those on the right have been saying this very thing for a few years now, and were ignored. The media on the left set the standard for stupid comments being career ending, NOW you are concerned?

Its not delusion. Its a very hard lesson. This is the only way it is learned. The lesson is when people make mistakes, it shouldn't end their professional lives. You have only taken notice of this after it affects one of your particular tribe. That's the problem with tribalism, varying standards on what is considered "fair"; varying standards on what is worthy of outrage.

A suppose it was a bit of shadenfreude mixed with frustration that no legislation was enacted in the wake of the Sandy Hook massacre, but then, realistically, I don't see these sorts of killings being prevented. Even if CBS doesn't dismiss her, the Troll Army will have her in its sights and is going to completely destroy her. If she's smart, she'll move to Mongolia or Borneo.

It's a "troll army" for people to be upset over someone stating they have no sympathy for those who were massacred? Lo....Oh kay.

I think people should be more careful with emotions like hate. I reserve my hate for limited things that in my belief are of a grave threat. The rest of the stuff I'm passionately annoyed with (lol).

I have no problem with the passionate disagreements between the left and the right. The reason I come here is because I am an advocate of openly airing out those differences, provided it's done peacefully, honestly, and the underlining intent is to find the best possible path forward.

I make a concerted effort to listen and understand a person's perspective and than I try to help them understand mine. I like to look for common ground with people. Perfect example is you and I just recently found common ground in the gun control thread. We won't agree on where the line should be drawn on ownership rights but we do agree that the bigger problem is the killing not the instrument being used. Imo that's a healthy start to a productive dialouge.

I grew up as an atheist in a very heavily devout roman catholic family and when I came out it was very contentious. What I learned from it and try to carry with me, is that in order for me to ask them to accept me, even though they don't understand my beliefs, I have to be willing to accept them back. I don't need their validation. I need their tolerance.

I hope I answered what your were asking

She is one person who said something that's indefensible. She probably wouldn't be newsworthy if everyone condemned comments like hers universally but that's sadly not the case. There are some who choose to defend and/or diminish the malicious spirit of her words.

It reminds me of enablers who rationalize abusers instead if standing up to them. What she said isn't illegal but it is unacceptable behavior for a civilized society.

Who did she abuse again?

And people like her, well frankly, why give them a podium? Like I said, this is not anymore Breaking News than my dog farted and it stank.

I could certainly make an argument that she is guilty of being verbally abusive but that wasn't the Comparison I was drawing. I was comparing people making excuses for her to the enablers that make excuses for abusers.

I have no problem with her having a podium now that she is being made an example of. I would like to see her choose to use it to issue a public apology.

Would you say that had she been refering to the people that Dylan Roof murdered?
