It became obvious that the media is doing everything to make us believe that all he Muslims are enemies and that there are absolutely no normal human beings in the Middle East. Except of the American and NATO soldiers of course.
I know how the info wars work, I know that the editors don't have the chances to tell the truth. But in the same time there are about 4 million Muslims living in the USA. We assert ourselves to be the most tolerant nation ever. But we live in hatred to people with a bit more sun tan and another name of God. Is it fair?
BTW if you google a "Muslim enemies pics" the majority of results will be the photos of Obama

Did I miss the breaking news from the mainstream media in this thread?

Wow! I see just the opposite!

That's just how highly the OP thinks of his own opinion. It may not be breaking news but it damn well should be. :D

In US society today, hatred and intolerance and xenophobia are encouraged. Ignorance abounds in this 21st century version of Know Nothings (and torture all that do not submit).

For every poster I have seen over the years who hates all Muslims, there must be dozens and dozens who adopt the myopic "see no evil" attitude, instead. Such an ignorant defense is no better than an ignorant attack.

What Muslims worldwide actually believe has been well documented, and unless a person actually examines these beliefs, all they are indulging in is ignorant twaddle.

Are you seriously arguing the US and NATO forces are in the ME out of hatred and to kill all Muslims? Perhaps you can share a few of these media stories that support your claim.

Really? Who, exactly, is encouraging this xenophobia? Can you supply us a link (or two) to support that (bolded above) assertion?

In general terms, the mainstream media, some sources more than other.

For example, we have been scared silly of "muslim extremists" for at least 15 years. Some believe that immigrants without certain papers are the source of all social problems we experience. Others believe Iran is holding nuclear weapons already and cannot wait to use them against Israel or the US.

The MSM tells us we should also be scared of Russia.

Is that a good start?

I'm not sure how big the role of organized religion is in supporting these fears, but I suspect it plays a big role. Xenophobia, OTOH, is perhaps a normal sort of behavior in humans, and some exploit that behavior to instill fear and/or hatred in certain people. Maybe it's just where I live in a rural area of the south, but it seems to me that bigotry is very real.

Funny. I read, see and listen to a lot of media. My impression is quite different from yours. I am actually surprised how fair and informative the reporting towards Muslims in the US. Even right after 9/11 generalizations like you had in Europe were relatively far between.

I can't speak for others, but if you want to see real hatred displayed here on DP, just follow the threads about bakers who won't bake wedding cakes for gay weddings, or dentists who shoot lions, or anything Palin.

Really? Who, exactly, is encouraging this xenophobia? Can you supply us a link (or two) to support that (bolded above) assertion?

Xenophobia is the default scape goat for all our Capitalist failures. Always has been, probably always will be.

You'd better read my thread before posting. I said nothing about soldiers killing Muslims because of hatred.
I said that the Americans think that the only human beings in the Middle East who deserve to live are the US soldiers

That (bolded above) is your major problem - there is no such thing as what "the Americans think".

Who, by the actions of their legal representatives, sent US troops to the ME and for what purpose? Rest assured that the US mission in the ME is not to eliminate Islam.

Yeah its a huge problem, we are making enemies of lots of people and countries when we dont really have to.

I agree I "hate" (it's not really hatred, but it's definitely a strong negative perspective) Muslims, but in fairness to me, I "hate" all religions and fear the impact of them all and their believers, on believers of other, on society as whole, on women and minorities...

I don't hate Muslims. I hate Islam. There are plenty of people who are brainwashed by idiotic religions, Islam included, and those people need help rejoining reality. I don't hate them because they are deluded though.

Do you mean that on any given issue or subject there is no consensus with American thinkers?

Our legal representatives, most elected some appointed, did in fact send our troops to the ME, and I'm sure you remember that. And I suspect you also remember that it was done under fraud, but maybe you don't.

Those same legal representatives have effectively nullified the Fourth Amendment and Habeas Corpus. Is that all new to you, or can you remember it now?

Curveball, Colin Powell prevaricating at the UN? Remember? ;)

Troops being sent to the ME was not done under fraud but you are right about the 4th.

Maybe you missed it, but conservatives blame the poor and liberals blame the rich.

What ?

You hate Islam? What do you mean by "Islam" here ?

Pardon but that makes no sense. Muslims are people who believe in Allah and practice Islam.
It's like If you said I don't hate Christians but I hate Christianity. Well, I hope you don't.

Um... the religion? Maybe you've heard of it?

I have. It is practiced by Muslims, hence my confusion. I have a completely different view.

I don't care what you believe. I really don't. I do care when your actions are indefensible. Like an extremist Muslim who is on a violent jihad of all westerners. But it's not the belief that bothers me all that much, it's the behavior. Frankly, we've given the middle east plenty of reasons to be wary of western influence. I see no reason not to give them the freedom to hate me if they wish. All i would ask is that they do not hurt me or mine.

So i find your distinction a little strange. I honestly mean no offense, i was simply curious.

Pardon but that makes no sense. Muslims are people who believe in Allah and practice Islam.
It's like If you said I don't hate Christians but I hate Christianity. Well, I hope you don't.

I do find it strange since, historically, i have every confidence that more men, women, and children have been slaughtered in the name of Christianity than Islam, but i suppose i could be wrong.

Yes, I hate Christianity as well. I hate all religion and other irrational thought. Why is this a surprise?
