They probably did it because their financial system is on life support and they needed an excuse. The only way for them to continue to stay in power is with something that has even more control over us. Like Chinas social credit surveillance for example + a 100% digital currency. And also a much lower global population obviously.

@Joh17

Red pill or blue pill? Unless you can supply supporting facts or authorities for your assertions, this post is just spitballing. Thank you for posting it in the CT Forum however.

Welcome to the forum by the way.

Cheers and be well.

It makes no sense at all to shut down the world economy for this virus. And that the economic system is on life support is hardly news. :) That they are working on digital currencies is not news either although most people may not have heard about it. A 100% digital currency would give them complete control over people. https://www.reuters.com/business/fi...tral-bank-digital-currency-pilots-2021-05-03/

Joh17:

Who is "they"?

In a democracy people can oppose such "initiatives" just by voting out the party which attempts to enforce such measures. Failing that they can just refuse to cooperate with a digital currency scheme or other "initiative" as is happening in India or take to the streets to paralyse the economy if the state becomes too assertive in its "initiatives". That's just what happened last week in Colombia after the Duque-Marquez Government there tried to impose unreasonable tax "initiatives" on the population. IIRC, 19 people died and many were injured but the people won and the government backed down, apologised and gave up.

One of the greatest threats to democracy and to liberty is the spreading of conspiracy theories which convince gullible people that they have no agency and no real franchise in their democracy and that the people are in thrall politically to domestic and international cabals and to "they". This disarms democracy. People have the power to change their circumstances and their governments in democracies but sometimes making such changes involves assuming both the obligation of responsibility and peril of risk in order to effectively resist creeping authoritarianism, ideological zealotry and anti-democratic corporatism.

The state can be broken to serve the interests of the polis, if the polis has the collective wisdom and guts to break a rogue state. This can be done peacefully, as has been done in Canada or it can be done in the streets violently as is happening in Colombia and Myanmar. In totalitarian states it can also be done but at much higher costs and over much longer periods of time.

So the peddling of fatalistic resignation to the predations of the "powers that be" actually weakens democracy and responsible government, making authoritarianism more likely in democracies and if present already, then making authoritarianism harder to fight.

PS. There's something wrong with your Reuters link. I looked up the story however. No biggie. Just make sure the five trials fail miserably through non-cooperation and public outcry and the issue will die on the vine for a decade. Then rinse and repeat.

Cheers and be well.

I agree, the banks were not solvent....now they are owed billions by the world’s tax payers....also looks like the mad president is about to build up even more debt for the banks. Mission one accomplished.

The Chinese got to lock down their “revolting” population...and got the USA back in line with their puppet...the US is going to continue borrowing money to buy Chinese goods. Mission 2 accomplished.

The green evangelists had all their Christmasses come at once...the Swedish goblin must even be able to crack a smile now! Mission 3 accomplished.

The tech and pharmaceutical firms must literally be seeing mountains of money and power coming their way...yearly vaccines at ever inflating prices and tech controlling our lives. Mission 4 accomplished.

On top of all this , the MSM just regurgitate the establishment line without question...even this doesn’t make liberals think twice...the liberal retards think this is all down to bat soup and wearing masks without quality control is worthwhile...and they call us conspiracy theorists.

This whole event is made it clear to me that although liberals ( without exception) think they are wise ...they really are the dullards that the establishment requires right now, unquestioning sheep.

I absolutely love the way those jabs at liberals plug into the rest of the post.

It's all loony tunes CT bullshit, and then...

Liberals are not questioning any of the narrative..so this becomes your fault. There is no way the world should have shut down for a virus that kills 0.2 percent of the population...average age 82... ie, most were already on the way out. This reaction will kill far more , and younger, in the long run...that’s on you . The economy has been trashed ...that’s on you too. Education has been trashed...that’s on you too.

...oh , and masks , lockdowns...all that shit...none of it ****ing works..as proven by the fact that countries/States that have not enforced them show no difference in mortality rate. That stupidity is on you, you bought that shit hook line and sinker.

So Trump was a liberal, since all these things happened on his watch?

America is not a democracy, and not just in the rhetorical sense, but the practical one. I can provide example after example of this. In California they had an actual election on the issue of giving marriage licenses to homosexuals, the gays lose by a wide margin but the state went ahead and imposed it anyway. If the people want to ban abortion, this will not be permitted. The people broadly want less immigration, far less, into America and have been ignored since 1965, except whenever the democrats feel they need more voters and bring up amnesty plans. The people never voted for a university system where the majority of humanities professors claim they’re sympathetic to Marxism. If America is a democracy how did all these things happen?

You have a divided and weak electorate who are more interested or preoccupied with putting the food on the table and paying the rent/mortgage than they are with the politics of a certain kind of Christian morality. They lack the focus and the political dexterity to demolish your institutionalised two-party system and thus effect real change. Here in Canada, if a party which was elected into power breaks too many of its promises to the electorate, we all but wipe the party out and put them in the political wilderness for a decade until they relearn the rules of democracy. In America you keep electing the same lying bastards over and over again and then wonder why change is hard to realise.

America is a secular country so expecting that people (the majority of whom are increasingly secular urban dwellers) will discriminate against homosexuals out of religious conviction or demand an end to abortion based on Judeo-Christian morality they no longer value may be a bridge too far.

Immigration favours the business sectors by depressing labour markets, finding people desperate enough to do horrible jobs cheaply and undermining unionism. So if you want to tackle runaway immigration, then you will have to take on business, agribusiness and industries which rely on cheap, unskilled and semi-skilled labour. Those aren't leftists or rightists, they're contributing to both major parties and are interested in maintaining the preferential status quo which profits them and their shareholders. To beat them you will have to get private money out of political elections as much as humanly possible. But somehow you lot decided that money is free speech (which it is not) and thus those interests which keep suppressing your popular political interests also keep getting elected because with their money they convince enough of you to vote against your own best interests.

America is a representative democracy and a constitutional republic. But right now your democracy is being disabled by private money and now legalised graft and corruption. Don't like it? Get involved and change the rules from the ground up. America is still a democracy but Americans don't work hard at preserving its integrity and power. That's on you and your fellow citizens. Run in elections, vote in strategic ways and take power away from those who would repeatedly ignore your interests. That or sink into post-industrial, commercial serfdom.

Cheers and be well.

So, I provide multiple examples of how democracy is not an effect in America, and your response after insisting that America is a democracy, is to say well the people don’t actually want what they vote for so deal with it?

So Trump was a liberal, since all these things happened on his watch?

When the virus first broke out it was logical to lockdown and respond accordingly with social distancing etc...Trump soon livened up and became aware that this was the “China” virus and that it was being utilised for other purposes...if he’d stayed in power we wouldn’t have gone so far down this dystopian road...that’s why his re-election was blocked.

The biggest illusion in America are that there are two parties, when it's really just two sides of the same coin.

They get on TV and demonize each other, then behind closed doors it's all back slapping and high fiving about how they really got one over on the voters.

One day they won't be able to issue any new debt, and the game will be up, until then, don't look for anything to improve. The people have to come to the realization that they can't elect millionaires, because they only do the bidding of billionaires, once we are broke the lies will be too big to hide.

That's what happened to the USSR, lies and debt piled up until they could no long pay the bills, and all at once it just collapsed. We're still in the lies and debt stage, and if you notice, both just keep getting bigger, that's why some many people are being drawn to alternative news and conspiracy theories, because deep inside we know, on some level, that we are all being played for fools.

Don't go down the rabbit hole looking for some deeper meaning, they are just ordinary liars and thieves and so long as the US still has credit they will keep lying and stealing, and there just isn't anything the people can do about it, except to prepare for what comes after.

They probably did it because their financial system is on life support and they needed an excuse. Haha. Only establishment approved conspiracy theories should be allowed? You have it upside down. The greatest threat to democracy is when people are scared to open their mouth.

Economies recover just as they did after the 1918 Spanish flu pandemic, the Wall Street crash and depression of the 1930s, two world wars and the 2007 Wall street meltdown which became a global recession. Don't panic.

Nothing works? Let me point you in the direction of Vietnam and South Korea, for example, where strict mandates for lockdowns and masks has resulted in tiny rates of death and infection. If 'enforcement' means no more than a mild telling-off and has no teeth, what do you expect? Lockdowns and masks work as long as people do the right thing and respect common-sense restrictions. Whining about it doesn't help anyone-let alone your cause. You need to wake up mate, and back away from conspiracy nutters. You'll feel much better.

Lockdowns and masks had no effect on mortality rates in comparable countries and states. It is also abundantly clear that no two countries have counted infections and deaths in the same way...so using the differing approach in US States is probably the best comparison...and there is no ****ing difference between states with strict and not so strict lockdowns. Masks and lockdowns had no appreciable effect.

What "comparable countries"? Here's the elephant in the room; if people don't comply with restrictions what do you expect? Australia, New Zealand, the Southeast Asian nations I cited-all have had great success in combating the virus. It has been explained to you why-and your "abundantly clear" is another of your baseless assertions. Nobody can be trusted, right? Everything is a nefarious plot, vaccines don't work, it's all a scam. That pretty much sums up your position.

Just have to add that i was just also told that the so called vaccines are dangerous. Dont know which ones. Just want to warn people.

"Shutting down the world economy" made the... economic system better? That's your claim?
I’d say that shutting down the economy switched economic benefit from the un- favoured to the favoured. So a lot of people lost their businesses, homes, families and lives so that others could benefit
