There are relatively few radical Muslim terrorists, and not all are even Muslim. I would be offended if every time some criminal that was raised Christian killed someone the news media presented it as terrorist Christian murders. If we demonize all Muslims it wonbt be long until Christians or Jews or some other religious group is next. It is funny the RW can be so sensitive to the war on Christmas or any other perceived or made up offensives against us Christians, but insist on being offensive as possible to everyone else.

The world isn't 'going nuts'. Some of the people in it have always been nuts.This is nothing new.

But the world will survive because most people are sane.

The world can survive...sure....but I am seeing a lot more mental health problems than ever before. Insanity is growing by leaps and bounds...due to proliferation of drug use, war vets, diet and lack of exercise.
One good friend, who is a psychiatric NP, sees about 50 patients a week at one facility! That in itself is Nuts! He is so drained and tired these days, he doesn't have any energy to visit with me.

I could argue that, as with the over eight thousand dead per year as a result of gun-related homicides, "we are successfully dealing with it" and no additional action need be taken. Mateen is dead, problem solved. Moving on...

I believe what he is saying is that Americans are focused on the wrong, sometimes petty issues like over the terminology used to define a war time enemy and the failure of the left to see there is no problem with guns, but who gets to have them. By singling out the metal 'thing', we lose sight of the fact what system there is failed, and a lethal nut case was able to get a gun...where he clearly should not have been able to. It is easier to blame a thing, than admit the security system in place failed. The guy was on a watch list for **** sakes.

A lot of factors add up to the world going nuts: i.e. too many people crowding it (like rats in a cage); intellectuals producing few children/while third world countries are overproducing people; a super vast and fast media that likes to cover negative events rather than positive.

It's not about name calling. It's about being honest about the cause behind the threat. The threat isn't guns. The threat is radicalized Muslims. Every piece of legislation proposed on gun control would not have stopped Mateen, Farrook or the major at Ft. Hood from carrying out their attacks. They were not on any lists even though the FBI had files on them.

Just to shine a little light on this, according to FBI stats, the murders committed using a rifle decrease from year to year through 2011 on this chart:

Chart after chart after chart will show that knives or other cutting instruments are used far more often than rifles in murders.

Murder by rifle is comparatively rare in the US compared almost all other weapons including body parts like hands and feet.
