Nearby residents and visitors to New York's Washington Square Park have told how they now avoid the landmark after dark amid fears of violence, a day after another late night rave descended into chaos.

On Friday night a woman was left bloodied and bruised after being trampled on by terrified crowds trying to flee a man armed with a large knife and a taser.

The man with the knife and taser is alleged to be Jason McDermott, 42, sources told DailyMail.com. McDermott has been arrested at least 10 times between 2010 and 2014, the sources said.

On Monday, mayor Bill De Blasio downplayed the chaos at Washington Square Park in recent weeks, telling reporters that he believes the situation will resolve itself ‘naturally’

Ain't it great when we defund police, and allow people to get out of control?

Thats up to the City of New York. Apparently the citizens thereof are good with it.

What is happening in New York City is horrible beyond imagination.

I think of the Asian and Jewish people who have been brutally assaulted, I think of the subway passengers who are being assaulted, I think of the lady who has been terribly injured by a scooter, I think of the chaos in that park now.

Mr. de Blasio should be ashamed of himself, but of course he is not.

He preferred painting the letters BLM in front of Trump Tower instead of cracking down on the crime wave that rivals that of the 1970s.

This lawlessness exists because the very, very, very bad perps know that they are being protected by Dem politicians who feel that the perps are the victims!!!!!!!!!

And you think of all the bad things you want to say about black people and silently curse the fact that you have to sort-of leave it to implication, yes, we know.

All these blue cities and states you dishonestly attack carry the goddamned country. Red states survive on blue state welfare in just about every way imaginable. You secede, you'll be on the crap end of the shithole country list. Enough of these idiotic threads.

NYC is failing!
CA is destroyed!
Chicago is no more!

This is why people that live in UPSTATE NY would like to see NYC become it's own state
Take the state line that runs along the top of PA and run it over to Conn. and anything below that can be the state of NY or the state of NYC and anything above that could be another name
Most people in UPSTATE do not like NYC and get sick and tired of going to other states and when asked where are you from and you say NY people automatically think of the city
Most people that live in NJ and Conn live closer to that sh--hole then a lot of people in NYS
and people in upstate get sick and tired of just getting a few crumbs when NYC gets anything and everything they want and UPSTATE has to pay for it
Have a nice day

This is ridiculous. You whiners sound like the uptight squares who complained about "the beatniks" in Washington Square.
My friend Daniel Drasin captured film footage of the "Beatnik Riot" in a film called "Sunday".

SUNDAY is now part of the permanent film collection at New York's Museum of Modern Art and has been shown at numerous film symposia since its restoration, in 2008, by the UCLA Film and Television Archive, funded by Martin Scorsese's Film Foundation.

How many of you in this thread have EVER LIVED IN New York City for a period of time beyond two months?

The way NYC is depicted in conservative media has no relationship to reality--it's just porn for the conservative-liberal hate complex. NYC is still very very safe. I take the subway every morning and usually between 10pm-midnight every night. People have dinner outside in droves every night of the week. There is no epidemic of crime, it's just that there are a few scattered incidents across a city of 8 million people, whereas previously there were essentially zero. The election on Tuesday will also show there is no broad movement to defund the NYPD. Meanwhile people in conservative land are actually going crazy and burning down their party. So maybe pay attention to your own backyard before masturbating about the supposed downfall of NYC.

So, pointing out the lawlessness after dark in that park, highlighted by a liberal outlet, is somehow, showing that to even talk about it is racist?

jumped the shark on that racist label there buddy.

Why would anyone want to? Hell, I don’t even like driving in there.

So, no problem in NYC eh?

Why would anyone want to? Hell, I don’t even like driving in there.
There are literally only two explanations for this: (1) you don't like traffic, or (2) you feel irrationally uncomfortable if you see a black or latino person. Either way, I guess it's better to stick to the SC suburbs.
So, no problem in NYC eh?
There's a tiny blip which will begin to be corrected on Tuesday.

Wait what? Please show me where the citizens “are good with it”?

They voted the people in implementing the stuff. Or they didn't vote at all so they don't care.

Why would anyone want to? Hell, I don’t even like driving in there.

You sound just like a typical "If I don't know it, it must be unknowable" type.
Why would anyone WANT to? Eight million people live there so it's highly unlikely that 7,999,999 people DON'T want to live there.
If you can't imagine that other people's views on NYC are valid, that is your problem.

The malcontents and idiots say so, mostly right wing paranoid twats. But that is not universal by any means.\

I see a repeating pattern of right wing attempts to set up divides from state to state to state to state.
Funny how so far NONE of these efforts have paid off.
