It makes me wonder how cancer rates would be affected if we allowed certain childhood diseases to go unvaccinated. Maybe there would be less cancers in adults. It's an interesting hypothesis.

It says the measles virus has the ability to shrink some tumors and it is being studied as a vehicle for virus based cancer treatments. The fact that you took that to mean vaccinations are making us more susceptible to cancer just shows how these insane myths propagate. I have met too many parents over the years whose children had vaccine injury. My son had permanent damage from vaccination. It's not happening. Over my dead body.

Just search doctors + bribes + vaccines in Google and there are plenty of articles. They may not be hidden exchnages of cash but there are doctors who are willing to exempt children for a variety of non medically sound reasons and they make a business off of that, that is courruption and bribery.

People should look at this very hard as this is what socializing the healthcare system will bring. You won't be diagnosed by doctors. Neither you nor doctors will make your healthcare decisions. Add to that how many times Democrats and liberals have openly said they hope old people die off because they tend to be conservative and you can understand that socialized medicine will be a death sentence to millions.

Perhaps next we will stop washing our hands after using the restroom and performing basic acts of hygiene, because after all, autism rates seem to have increased AFTER hand washing was introduced?

In Ethiopia, parents travel days and stand in lines for hours with their children so that they can be vaccinated so that they do not die from the very-real pestilence that their countries are awash in.

I realize my views are unpopular in this thread but I am not anti-vax. I'm concerned about the government making a power grab on behalf of pharmaceutical companies. We can't sue these drug companies directly. They have legal immunity. We can only sue vaccine courts who give payouts from tax payer dollars. The drug companies never see the consequences of poorly designed vaccines. After they gained political immunity, the vaccine schedule for children under 5 went from 10 vaccines in the 90's to now over 40. Some of these vaccines have harmed people in serious ways, and the mainstream media is not even discussing it. The conversation simply can't happen.

Look at this thread. You can't even talk about the complexities of this issue without being called pro or anti vax. Are people really this gullible that they're going to form two tribes over it, like everything else?

Japan banned the MMR in the 90's because it was causing non-viral meningitis in a noteworthy number of children. That it can possibly be causing brain damage in a number of people is, to me, reason enough that we should be allowed to refuse it for ourselves or our children. I'm not saying everyone "should" refuse it or that it's no good at all. I'm saying that the right to refuse medicine is sacred and it's not something that should be violated under any circumstances.

Until the day when they make perfect medicines with no side effects and a 100% safety rating, people should have the right to refuse.

I'm concerned that the medical establishment is now far more concerned about documenting and databasing vaccine refusal than it is documenting adverse reactions. I am concerned that drug trials on new vaccines may be inadequate. In an FDA meeting that I watched last week, they voted to release a vaccine to the public despite a testimonial in the same room that there were some concerns about side effects. Essentially, the public has become the guinea pig.

If you want to find out about the ADRs that aren't being reported, just venture into the support groups online. They are not only inhabited by anti-vaxers. There are people who have suffered bad reactions, some of them permanently life altering, that doctors haven't recorded.

A lot of people in this thread have very solid opinions but very few of you are actually watching what our regulatory bodies are up to. You don't watch the meetings or read the transcripts; you don't talk to the support groups; you don't talk to some doctors who themselves have concerns. You just listen to news reports and get spoonfed your point of view. It's irresponsible of you to be this uninformed.

If you give up your right to refuse vaccination, then I guarantee you, somewhere down the line the government will expand this power into other medical areas. They have done it before and we had to fight for medical rights in this country. The eugenics era was a nightmare for many people. I'm not saying vaccines are eugenics, I'm saying that the eugenics era is an example of top level power abuses in our medical establishment that were guised in the "greater good". It's not a conspiracy theory, just pick up a damn history book.

You can't call yourself American and support the removal of medical freedoms. If you're so scared about diseases, get the vaccine. You have a responsibility to yourself to do so. But you don't have a right to infringe upon the freedom of others or accuse your political enemies of having no right to exist in public because they are a threat to you. That's totally unamerican.

If you won't fight for people's rights, then don't be surprised when one day you have none. If you give one inch, they will take a mile. It's not even theoretical... the government has done it before. I am tired of social regression in our country.
