The Dems in their wildest Dreams could not make a story like this up about Ted Cruz

Ted Cruz is merely the tip of the iceberg and what has happened in Texas is only part of the problem. Trump's unwillingness or inability to deal with the pandemic, our crumbling infrastructure, undrinkable water, Americans digging through dumpsters for food, no bills ever allowed through with debate, stoking a violent insurrection with the Big Lie. The libertarian Republicans are proud to do absolutely nothing but waste space as a matter of principle.

The Texas disaster is a result of their ideology. Rick Perry says its worth it, Ted Cruz goes on vacation.

The saddest part of all this is that if he hadn't been caught, nobody would have even missed him.
I agree that Republicans own the shortfalls that Texas has to deal with but I'm curious if you hold Democrats to the same degree of accountability in states like California?

Why should anyone have a problem with a Senator on recess vacationing outside the country during a cold snap? If you want to gripe about a police escort to the airport, that is fair, however what do you think Senator Cruz can do about cold weather? Perhaps command a massive fleet of low flying helicopters to warm the air? The real anger should be directed at roughly 25% of power being directed to so-called green energy alternatives, like windmill technology which is failing badly during the cold snap and putting a strain on conventional plants.
I totally agree. Besides, I'm sure Mr. Cruz could afford the heating bills in his TX home...

wish people would do something about the homeless problem...

Still clinging to the windmill argument? Once again, Texas has a PRIVATE energy market. The PRIVATE companies determine what kind of generating plant they want to build, not the STATE...

for now, maybe

communism is on its way

In trouble with a Federal agency, the VA, Social Security ... It isn't complicated. Answer honestly, what problem do you think a US Senator can solve do to help his constituents in this weather emergency?

"But this dismissiveness is a double failure of imagination. First, it overlooks the importance of leaders bucking up the morale of a struggling population. Giving heart to citizens is good politics. (This lesson was not lost on Reagan, but Cruz has never had much of a way with soft persuasion.) Second, it ignores the power that Cruz holds. A U.S. senator has immense unwritten power. He can use his connections, and the doors that a Senate role opens, to call on businesses and leading citizens to get things done. He can also use his political network to organize relief efforts.

Even a non-senator can do that. Democrat Beto O’Rourke, whom Cruz beat in a 2018 Senate race, said he’d organized phone banking to check on vulnerable seniors. But such a role seems never to have occurred to Cruz. He did, however, see how government could help him—drawing on a presumably stretched-thin Houston police force to escort him through the airport yesterday."

I assume you think he's lying when he says his staff is doing those things., Have you called his office and asked for help?

I was also asking what you thought he could be doing, not what some left wing loon at a left wing loon website thought.

What was the cause of the problem in California? How many people were affected? How many died? Is it comparable?

You raise an interesting point. What is the purpose of Ted Cruz at all? Who needs him if a staff can do the work.

As the article I provided points out, as a US senator, he carries a lot of weight to get things done. Certainly more than a staff does.

The article nails it: "a failure of imagination." Seems to be a problem for his defenders as well.

I have no particular reason to believe Ted Cruz, who was last seen trying to overturn a certified vote. Do you?

Sure . Because right there you are lying about him, which means you have some ulterior motive in your criticism.

So we have a state in complete omnishambles and the Senator goes on holiday rather than doing his job that you all pay for and some people are defending him?

Ok, this must be bottom of the barrel we can't get any lower than this.

So just what does Senator Cruz do, besides troll on Twitter and help provoke violent insurrections?

What lie? So you're reduced to strawman hunting now?

"last seen trying to overturn a certified vote."

I don't think we've discussed any issue before, so I don't if you made this statement out of ignorance or if you're intentionally posting falsehoods.

"Cruz is directly mentioned in the video filmed by the New Yorker’s Luke Mogelson. It depicts two men rummaging through a lawmaker’s papers in the Capitol.
“There’s gotta be something we can f---ing use against these scumbags,” one says.
“I think Cruz would want us to do this,” the second man says soon after. “I think we’re good.”"

Not a good look.

I think the real question is:

Why aren't young Texans being raised to care about Texas and fellow Texans. Why, in the midst of a state disaster, does the youth seek to abandon those in need and fly away to a tropical paradise on tax payer dollars.

Cruz is contributing to raising a generation of self centered people. Let's talk about that.

And the Son of Sam said a dog told him to kill those couples.

Given this post, good money is on you intentionally posting falsehoods. My mistake for thinking you were a serious poster, one I won't make again. I know you're crushed

I gather you declined to read the source.

"Meanwhile, even if Cruz does condemn Trump’s incitement, that doesn’t justify his support for the lie at that rhetoric’s core, which, again, is a serious abuse of official duty for the express purpose of keeping that falsehood alive.

Even worse, Hawley and Cruz sought to validate that lie for purely instrumental purposes: to capture a constituency of Trump voters for 2024. The complication here, as Jonathan Last notes, is that it isn’t easy to see how the grip Trump holds over Republican voters can be transferred to other standard-bearers, since it appears largely rooted in perceptions of Trump’s willingness to do whatever it takes to vanquish the people he and they hate.

So Cruz and Hawley decided that the way to pull this off was to harness the surging authoritarian currents inside the GOP. These currents are real: Majorities of Republican voters say Biden didn’t legitimately win the election and that GOP leaders didn’t go far enough in trying to nullify the outcome. Cruz and Hawley tried to surf those currents, and they wiped out."

My point is supported, and you're left with running away.

Everyone knows that Ted Cruz went for a vacation in Cancun, Mx, while his state freezes. That is bad enough and along with his insurrection should have him resigning. What is even worse is he asked for and received a police escort to make sure he could get to the sir port. With all of the problems that his state is having he essentially forces the police to escort him to make sure he got to the airport. Talk about elties, this is one of the stupidest things I think a politico could do during the problems his state is having. Of course his state will do nothing as he is their shinning star.
Lindsey said someone could kill cruz on the senate floor and nobody would be convicted. Ted is like trump, concerned about ted.

The difference, the son of same was lying, the video of those two guys is on the internet for all to see and no matter how much time passes, it will still be on video for all to see and hear.

Why did he need a police escort? In case he got stuck?

At the reccommendation of law enforcement (to all congresscritters) he had an escort through the airport, not to the airport.

The argument that Cruz couldn't do anything wasn't working out for Rawley, so he jumped on this, which isn't working out any better.

Cruz is a real piece of crap. An utter waste of space.

prove me wrong.

??? Son of Sam was not lying, he had mental issues. Like the criminals that rioted through the Capital. Again, what's the difference you are seeing?

What was the cause of the problem in California? How many people were affected? How many died? Is it comparable?
what is the cause of rolling blackouts, homelessness, etc in California? Do you blame Democrats for their struggles?

Why should Cruz and his family freeze?Everyone new this storm was coming.

ERCOT officials said natural gas providers that are not equipped to handle freezing temperatures were the main culprit for the outages, according to the Texas Tribune.

"Windmill" technology did not fail. It works fine in Minnesota and Alaska. The Texas power companies made the mistake of buying wind turbines that were not equipped for freezing rain. Don't know what percentage of the 1989 and 2011 Texas cold spell grid outages you can blame on "windmills".
