EagleAye.

It's RUINATION IPA.

And Pliny is better.

shiner bock/st pauli girl,or if your stomache is made of iron arrogant bastard pale ale.

Thank you. Well, I'll be getting more of the Ruination until I can find a source for Pliny.

Do you go to The Cellar? They might sell some other really good hoppy beers.

I don't think so.

Awesome! Just talked to them on the phone. I'll be running over there today or tomorrow.

Ha, good deal.

I'm not a stalker either. I just know how to find the beer, wherever I am.

:-D

This is a very important skill.

Just got back from there. I'm drinking a Dogfish Head 90 Minute Imperial. Very nice. It's smooth with no unpleasant aftertaste. No too bitter. More malty than I generally like but still very good.

I collected a few others:

- Sawtooth Ale
- Titan IPA
- Belgo (Belgian style IPA)
- 400 Pound Monkey
- Harpoon Celtic Ale
- Modus Hoperandi

They'll be ordering some Green Flash IPA and (hopefully) Pliny the Elder and Hop Stoopid. I asked about more Ruination IPA and they'll be getting it soon, but they have a hard time keeping it on the shelves.

Great suggestion, Neo! You've saved my sanity.

I can and have enjoyed many german beers or should I say bier... but that was in Germany, or should I say Deutchland... Any of the so called imported beer, the micro brews here in the U.S. it just doesn't cut it for me. They still have to Americanize it by law. So, I am content with a rack of coors light, a nearby pisser and some good friends.

The 90 minute is fanbloodytastic. I let it warm to about 50 degrees and give it a good enough pour to get a nice head and then just take whiffs. When I close my eyes it almost gives me an impression of hard red candy. I think I've had the Titan and Belgo before too but it's been too long. The others are unfamiliar to me.

Do the Dogfish 60 minute. Not as good as the Ruination IPA...but the 60 minute, in my opinion, has that "everyday" quality to it...it's like "table wine", so to speak. It's the IPA nearly everyone can drink, even dudes that typically only drink Bud, or Coors. And it's damn good.

Ditch the coors, and get PBR. Pabst Blue Ribbon, baby. For the price, best beer in the world, lol.

Just tried Stones Sublimely Self Righteous. Awesome. Wow. Blindfolded, I would call this a black IPA...but it's labeled "ale"...maybe because it came out before the temr black IPA existed.

Very dark beer, but nice hop flavor and aroma, with a touch of malt, and roasted malt on the back of the tongue. Really great stuff. It makes it onto my "will buy again list"...which...is a VERY exclusive list. I generally buy at least 2 different beers, everytime I buy beer...one I have never tried, and one I have and liked. So you can see how listing this a buy again is a pretty big step. Worth a try...and another...and another.....

Has anyone had a chance to sample Goose Island's Bourbon County Stout? I loved stouts more than any other style (I always preferred malts to hops), and this big-azz Imperial Stout with strong smokey-vanilla bourbon notes was simply one of the best beers I've ever had in my life.

Just got back from a trip to Austin, TX. We stumbled across a cool little market with an impressive array of Beer and Root Beer. The place is called Live Oak Market. I picked up some Breckenridge 471 Small Batch (double IPA). Pretty nice. A little on the heavy side. The 9.2% ABV has a real kick. Put me to sleep. I'll be trying a Squatter's Hop Rising (double IPA) in a little bit. Great array of foods and beers at the market. We picked up some Hippy Chips and Buffalo Jerky while we were there.

What are hippy chips? Do I even want to know, lol?

I'm thinking about maybe not sampling new beers as much, anymore. I feel like I've found the ones I really like...and lately, all the new ones I've tried have been rather expensive duds. Some were so bad I had to let the sink drink it. And at the typical 12 bucks for a larger bottle, or 12 bucks for a 6 pack, of some of these beers from the smaller breweries...those are pricey brews for my sink to so enjoy.

The thing is, though...the grass is always greener...maybe that one bottle next to the Innus and Gunn is my new favorite beer? Maybe it's the best thing since oral sex...

I just wish I would stop ending up with such duds.

Most of the time I've sampled new beers was at a pub that featured a constantly changing list of guest brews. Rather than buy a full pint, I was allowed a small sample first. I'd usually sample 2 or 3 before buying a full pint. This meant I didn't have to waste a lot of money on beer I didn't like. There's also places with a huge array of beers on tap and/or in single bottles, so sampling there isn't as much of a waste.

It also helps to have a clear idea of what you like. I like full-flavored beers but most malty ones don't do it for me. I tend to shy away from stouts and bocks but occasionally a porter can be much fun. Mostly, I've narrowed it down to IPAs for me. There are some IPAs that make me go blech! But for the most part, even if the new IPA I try isn't a favorite, it's still enjoyable enough. That's helped me a lot.

A number of times. My wife's cousin was a brewer there. It is definitely one of the better stouts in the world.

Story time;

My buddy from WA came down a few years ago and we opened a few really quality beers I'd been squirreling away for a special occasion. One was the Bourbon Barrel Stout from local brewery Odells and another was a Bourbon County Stout (BSC). I had had a BCS a few other times and understood it's flavor profile pretty well; I was accustomed to it's intense bourbon flavors. We opened the Odells bomber first and tried it. I wasn't impressed with it, compared to the BCS, it wasn't very "bourbon-y" but he thought it was great and didn't understand what I meant when I insisted there wasn't much flavor to it. Then we cracked open the BCS, and when he tasted it, his first comment was, "Now I now what you meant!"

BCS is an experience; one of the most flavorful beers I'd ever tried.
