There's almost certainly a few wrongful convictions among these prisoners.rule #1 of life - don't do bad stuff and go to prison

Not.BS crimes are all about right and wrong, morality, and all know it ALL.
And why the US is the most penalised country in the world. For one thing, prisons are a profitable industry, which was about the worst thing that could happen to the justice system. You realise there's a vast gulf between wanting to treat prisoners with respect and letting them out?
You seem hellbent on treating people in prison as badly as possible and then being absoluetely shocked when they don't come out as saints.
People like you is why the US prison system is the broken mess it is.
Air conditioning didn’t exist when the constitution was written and so there can be no argument that AC is a right.
no one in prison is innocent, you only get into prison by being found guilty
Are you OK with prisoners literally being cooked alive?
Out of curiosity, would you be okay with the January 6th rioters being kept in such conditions?
Link?
well they're not being cooked alive
poor wittle things are without AC and its 100 degrees .... do you know what I call that?
my childhood and my Dad's and every generation before him without AC and its hot outside

One issue that arises is that, while historically, well nothing was air conditioned, air conditioning has become a standard in the US. In several jurisdictions, the warranty of habitability requires AC, just it requires heat in northern states. As the expectations change, well, the expectations change. This is not helped where states may require local jails to be air conditioned.Wrong as usual.

Texas inmates are being ‘cooked to death’ in extreme heat, complaint alleges
With the threat of another hot summer ahead, advocates asked a federal judge to declare 100-degree-plus conditions in uncooled Texas facilities unconstitutional.www.texastribune.org

Inversely from what I have read, not all Federal prisons are HVAC'd either.
Were you confined to a small room you couldn't leave or have any control over?
Silly description "cooked alive." Try being factual. Are you OK with prisoners literally being cooked alive?

I never made choices to get myself incarcerated
This new idea of "oh, its hot outside" blows my mind
I'd work 10 hours a day in a hayfield and it 110 heat index - and guess what? every man and woman who ever worked hard in the fields, mines, rock quarries, steel mills etc etc over the last few hundreds years did the same
no, I'm sure the heat isn't comfortable, but I'm also very very leery of any report that says "being cooked alive" when that means a temperature way way hotter than 100
Let's stop putting 100% of the prisoners into one category. There are horrible people in prisons and people that simply broke the law. I am all for executions for those that commit horrible crimes against humanity, and I don't give a damn about their living conditions. As for the others I say prison should be a place to learn where you will spend part of your life should you decide the laws don't apply to you.So, what exactly is your plan for prisoners?
Personally I'd like them to be treated with a bit of respect and given the chance to train for a job when they get out and maybe even be able to have day release near the end of their sentence to embed themselves into a job somewhere so they can have enough money to have a basic standard of living when they get out.
I suppose that means I'm living in a fantasy world as we should treat like shit and then throw them out of prison with no way to get a job or pay bills.
Interesting. So if it didn’t exist at the time the Constitution was written there is no right to it now, is that your position?
It is interesting to wonder if @EMNofSeattle also thinks the 2nd Amendment only applies to muskets.

This is the counterargument of course. One oppositional factor is that the facilities may reach higher temperature then that. I believe 120 was stated.I never made choices to get myself incarcerated

Where is it written that prisoners have a right to air conditioning?Interesting. So if it didn’t exist at the time the Constitution was written there is no right to it now, is that your position?
If the law only applies to things that existed at the time of the founding there would be no regulations on any manufacturing and the internet would be a lawless free-for-all.

This is an argument, that there is no inherent right to AC. However, facilities do have a duty to maintain life.Where is it written that prisoners have a right to air conditioning?
Were there any A/C units visible in the movies "Cool Hand Luke" or "Shawshank Redemption" or "Escape from Alcatraz" or "White Heat"?
