Texas Fully Reopening

And that means that when Karen and I drive to Tulsa in April 2022 to be guests of honor for the Grand Reopening of Leon Russell's Church Studio, we will still have to be very very careful while we pass through Texas, even despite being fully vaccinated.
It also means there's a chance that one or more of our very dear Texas friends may succumb to the virus long after the rest of the country is safe.
 
Maybe Gov. Abbott has presidential ambitions? It seems CPAC likes DeSantis even though he's an asshole. So Abbott is expanding his talents in that direction?
 
Why , when they have gone through so much and are so close? Trust me I hate all this but I can do it for a few more months.......we are so close to the finish line........dumb, dumb, dumb move. Then again Abbott has never struck me as the brightest light on the tree.

We will find out in the next few months. The reason we don't know right now is because they skipped the SI tests in order to get the vaccines into people's arms in a timely manner. They know the vaccines are safe but they do not yet know for sure about SI (STERILIZING IMMUNITY) because SI studies take at least a year or two.

However, in the next six months or so, we will know "enough" to venture an educated guess as to whether or not any of the vaccines DO HAVE SI characteristics. And by the time 2022 rolls around, we'll actually be able to state so with confidence, one way or the other.
And that is why masks are still recommended even if you get the shots, so that you don't risk spreading the virus to others who are NOT yet vaccinated.
If you got the shot, you CAN STILL GET COVID, it's just that you will remain asymptomatic once you have vaccine immunity.
But you can still spread it unless the vaccine has SI.
An example of sterilizing immunity is found in the newest HIV medications, one popular brand, Dovato, points out that U=U - "Undetectable = Untransmissible".

That's pretty close to what epidemiologists mean when they speak of sterilizing immunity.
If the Pfizer, Moderna and J&J vaccines lower the viral load to undetectable levels, then it is safe to say that you can't transmit it to others.
 
With the prospect of everyone wanting a shot will be met by the end of May I'm reminded by what John Kerry once said. "Who wants to be the last to die?" Will he or she be from Texas? I sure hope not

Enjoy yourselves ...... too bad Jamie Oldaker, Radle, Sims and other Tulsa County Band associates can't make it .......go way around Texas what the hell like maybe through Wichita.
Enough of this babble.

My heart goes out to those in Texas who are trying........seriously. I can't see vaccines eradicating masks for quite some time. Maybe never if there are still those spreaders running about declaring all is a hoax.

That's just peachy. Texas' boneheaded "**** y'all, we're from Texas" attitude created by design Texas' dependency on it's own "**** y'all we're from Texas" power grid which failed spectacularly and will cost Americans hundreds of millions of dollars to repair, not to mention more than a slight increase in gasoline prices in Arizona and other states.

Texas has now decided to apply the "**** y'all, we're from Texas" attitude toward reducing the spread of COVID! The nation, including Arizona, can't wait to experience the results.

If there was any doubt that the GQP has become a literal death cult, Abbott just destroyed it.

Abbott oversaw the worst Texas-wide blackout in state history, which was entirely Texas' own making. And over 43,000 Texans are dead from COVID-19.

So what does that maggot do? Take away the mask mandate. 🤦‍♂️

I never got the chance to meet Carl Radle but I knew Jamie Oldaker, JJ Cale and of course Leon and his family.
Leon's wife and family will all be there.

The vax may be able to eradicate spread significantly once we determine if it lowers the viral load to undetectable.
We just don't know for sure yet.
And if Texas was at or near #1 in the country in terms of getting people vaccinated, I wouldn't be quite so concerned.
"Sure, unorthodox and not very smart but hey, they're vaccinating five times more people every day than any other state."
But they're NOT, and they're not even trying very hard yet, and they need to in order to match their ballsy move.

I'm really worried about Teresa Knox, the new Church Studio owner...she's going to be exposed to tons of people every single day.
 
It's long overdue.

Knowing how Republicans think, my guess is that is the point. They cannot very well allow Biden to claim victory over the virus. Just watch. The Crazy Right will reignite the spread of the virus and then blame Joe.

Definitely not if only 13% are vaccinated with at least 1 shot. Dopey move. The hospitals will be busy and we should get to see how the new treatments work.
