Ted Cruz gives an amazing speech -- doesn't endorse Trump

He wants to create a national religion? Say wha? I wouldn't vote for him either if he wanted that. Can you cite some sources?

Well, many of the laws he wants to put in place, particularity the ban on gay marriage come directly from his Christian religion. Then the whole fiasco where he stated he followed god above the Constitution. Some interesting reads on his views. Also check out what his dad has said about his son. Absolutely insane.

Ted Cruz Preaches Theocracy: ?I?m a Christian first, American second?

Security had to escort cruz's wife away from the crowd.

they probably realize she is the one who would not allow ted to endorse the donald after the way tRump repeatedly disrespected her during the primary

Once I figured out that Cruz is a DICK I stopped caring about what he actually believes as opposed to what he claims to believe in.

He hurt a lot of people in striving for personal gain (the shutdowns)

He was wrong about that as he is wrong about the rebellion.

****. CRUZ.
I don't like Cruz or his politics, either.

But he fights for his principles, and I can respect that.

It's better than a con artist that says whatever the polls tht day say he should. At least I know I don't like Cruz; who knows, with some of these other guys (& gals).

While Cruz may have missed his opportunity to make a big splash endorsement, that's not to say he may not later.
Perhaps Cruz didn't want to make a big splash endorsement?

I really don't think so. He views Trump as a charlatan and he very much remembers the attacks his wife faced.

Then of course he's got 2020 to think about (as did Ryan).

"I'm a Christian first, American second" is how many Christians feel. Their religion is more important to them than loyalty to their country. Nothing wrong with that. That doesn't mean they want America to be a theocracy. I've never heard Ted Cruz say anything remotely close to wanting the country to be a theocracy. If he has said that or ever says it in the future, I would never, ever vote for him.

Nah, he won't. That speech was obviously him beginning his campaign for 2020 and not wanting to be tied down to supporting Trump.

CNN reports that a man in a donor suite had to be restrained from assaulting Ted Cruz after he entered it after his speech.

THe guy is at least 3 times more fake than the alleged Con Man Trump.

I would damn near Trust Donald Trump with my life.

I would not want to trust Cruz with my car.

Seriously.

This was nothing more than a campaign speech.

I agree. In his mind, it's a campaign speech, but it's really more about him being a sore loser and too proud to endorse Trump. Cruz is not going to lead the GOP in the aftermath of Trump. I know he has fantasies about it, but it's not going to happen.

he won't be Ryan's running mate in 2020, IMO.

True. He may not.

There are many of the party that have already called Cruz a disgrace to the party to his face. They won't be forgetting this either when it comes to 2020. Cruz didn't make any friends or allies tonight by handing this the way he did. He could only remediate himself by endorsing Trump later, else jeopardize his 2020 run.

I would rather vote for a libertarian, small government republican than a Christian government conservative. Christian republicans do intermix religion with political ideology, and some of them (people I know in real life) hold beliefs that American is a Christian nation, it belongs to them, etc. etc. I can't get behind that.

If you are not liked you have to be feared.

Nobody will walk with Cruz, he is all by himself.

The son of a bitch clearly has delusions of grandeur.

Because in this world, when you are by yourself, and people dont like you, and people dont trust you...when that happens, you lose.

Nobody fears you because we all know you will never have power.

Because you are STUPID.

The only thing Cruz's a speech lacked was a quote from Green Eggs and Ham, other than that, his political stunt was almost perfect... :2razz:

unfortunately [because i can't stand cruz, the only candidate i opposed more than tRump] i believe it will have the opposite effect
this will be found to be the successful opening salvo of his 2020 candidacy
tRump will fail, and cruz will claim to have predicted it
and the right wingers - few of whom are tRumpettes - will clamor to support cruz' presidential bid

Yeah, it could end up working out that way. At this point, no one really knows.

Oh it would have brought the house down if Lyin Ted could have read off a few lines:

Not in a box.
Not with a fox.
Not in a house.
Not with a mouse.
I would not eat them here or there.

Friggin' Cruz -- he couldn't even do what Bernie did and endorse his party's nominee. :doh

He's just put himself in political Siberia -- which is probably fine by him, since he's as cold as ice, anyway.

It just looks dishonorable to show up at the convention and then not endorse the nominee. Even Kasich, who likewise didn't endorse, showed more class than Cruz by at least not showing up.

Funny, in every article about it thus far the delegates are saying he just kissed his political career goodbye.

He walked off to boos and angry shouts.

He is a sore loser. He is a part of the dying old party puppets who was crushed by Trump. Good riddance.

Funny, in every article about it thus far the delegates are saying he just kissed his political career goodbye.

Trump and his misguided ilk spell the death of the Republican party, he's toxic, endorsing him is a fools gambit, this will all blow over and in the future having endorsed him wholeheartedly will be your political career tarnished.

But I have to say, I agree with another who said he shouldn't have even shown up if he wasn't going to endorse Trump.

His career is over. Donald crushed him. He had everything but the support of the people. The people have spoken. Accept it or take your ball and go home.
