"We cannot continue to deny able-bodied people the dignity of work," said Rep. Jack Kingston (R-Ga.). "There seems to be a belief in the nanny state that there's something wrong with requiring abled-bodied people to work. That's what this amendment does."
The idea was to make more SNAP beneficiaries sign up for training programs on pain of losing benefits. But Democrats noted there was no funding for training, and that it included parents of young children and even many disabled people. Nor did it place any restrictions on how states could use the money they saved, allowing them to shift
Insistent that the Farm Bill be amended to punish poor and disabled people has resulted in the Tea Party Occupied House killing another bi-partisan farm bill. It bodes ill for the immigration bill, which the Tea Partiers will surely also kill.
This is the future of the GOP: the party that blocks any bill that doesn't punish poor people. Perfect.

Anything that kills the taxpayer handout to Corporate Ag is to be considered a good thing.
and besides, they can eat at work, you know all of them farm jobs available that the former illegal immigrants will be too good for now that they're made citizen?
Uhhh, what?
Hitting the catnip a little hard today, are ya? :2razz:
No, just can't disentangle the purported sense of you posts. But that's OK. I'll assume I missed nothing on point.

Hey, let's play pretend.
We know why the Democrats voted against the bill -- the poison pill added by the tea baggers to cut food stamp funding to the bone.
I guess the article was too long and complicated for you to read.
If you're in need, than ask and it shall be given.
Let's disentagle this together, and we'll help you where ever you seem to be having trouble..
The Farm bill -- which contrary to popular belief does little to aid small farmers -- gives many, many tax dollars to scumbag corporations such as Monsanto, ConAgra, and the like. Among other things, it pays these and other corporate farms money not to grow food, which artificially controls prices. More importantly it keeps food out of poor children's mouths. Far more than what depriving people food stamps has ever done.
The common misconception of the Unthinking Left who cry a river for illegal immigrants is that they take jobs Americans won't do, like agricultural jobs, because the work is beneath them. Well, with the current legislation being argued which would give 11 million illegals citizenship, the natural conclusion is that once they become citizens they will find that kind of work beneath them as well. This then draws us to the obvious point that we will have an overwhelming number of agricultural jobs available.
Since we know that all those people on food stamps aren't lazy, they're just having a rough go at it, can't find work, and will do whatever is needed to survive -- the poor, or rather most of the reported poor will now all be able to find work in the agricultural sector. As a boon, they will be able to graze in the fields where they work, enjoying a bountiful harvest.
See, that wasn't so hard to understand, now was it?
alright, lesson over, back to the litterbox you go...
