Insistent that the Farm Bill be amended to punish poor and disabled people has resulted in the Tea Party Occupied House killing another bi-partisan farm bill. It bodes ill for the immigration bill, which the Tea Partiers will surely also kill.

This is the future of the GOP: the party that blocks any bill that doesn't punish poor people. Perfect.

Food Stamp Cuts Derail Farm Bill

Of the poison pill the House teabaggers put in the bill, "Smarmy" Jack Kingston proclaimed:

"We cannot continue to deny able-bodied people the dignity of work," said Rep. Jack Kingston (R-Ga.). "There seems to be a belief in the nanny state that there's something wrong with requiring abled-bodied people to work. That's what this amendment does."

The idea was to make more SNAP beneficiaries sign up for training programs on pain of losing benefits. But Democrats noted there was no funding for training, and that it included parents of young children and even many disabled people. Nor did it place any restrictions on how states could use the money they saved, allowing them to shift

Maybe it is time to make into SNAP its own bill, since it is about 80% of the "farm bill" spending. Making "emergency" food aid decisions on a 10 year basis is simply insane to begin with.

Article does not even have the phrase "Tea Party" in it. Submitter is a fail (again).

More than 75% of the so-called "farm bill" has to do with "nutrition assistance," so it's not like this was just it was some minor little snag that held it up. It's the bulk of the funding.

The federal government has long been way more involved in feeding us than I've ever agreed with. I'll leave the outrage for the welfare statist bleeding hearts and partisan banterers.

Partisan dimwit voters have something fundamentally in common with D.C. slime, which is that they don't care whatso****ingever what legislation they're peddling, all they care about is playing games with it to make themselves look good and make their opponents look bad. This sort of partisan narcissism is rampant in both parties and probably the most destructive aspect of our system of government right now.

And it's why I tend to oppose virtually every manner in which federal government powers are expanded and strengthened.

If at the end of the day, a nearly 13-figure piece of federal legislation goes down in flames, consider it a good day for the country, regardless of what the blame-shifting partisan morons and D.C. slime are saying about one another.

Perhaps you can explain how those 172 Democrats who voted against the 'Farm Bill' are 'tea partiers'...?

Please check my math:
Republican support 73%
Democratic support 12%

Tea party killed indeed...dude you are obsessed...:lamo

edit: Oh, and a curtsey review reveals that 30 of the 49 'tea party caucus' members voted for the bill. What's that ~61%...easily five times the Democrats' support...

thread fail...:lamo

So you're going to pretend that tea party doesn't exist?

Let's play pretend!

Conservatives will say ANYTHING instead of facing the truth of their own intellectual bankruptcy.

Hey, let's play pretend.

We know why the Democrats voted against the bill -- the poison pill added by the tea baggers to cut food stamp funding to the bone.

I guess the article was too long and complicated for you to read.

No, just can't disentangle the purported sense of you posts. But that's OK. I'll assume I missed nothing on point.

18 posts and the OP has six of them and despite sweetening the chum slick repeatedly still no bites on the spread. That's some pitiful trolling there.

If you're in need, than ask and it shall be given.

Let's disentagle this together, and we'll help you where ever you seem to be having trouble..

Anything that kills the taxpayer handout to Corporate Ag is to be considered a good thing.

The Farm bill -- which contrary to popular belief does little to aid small farmers -- gives many, many tax dollars to scumbag corporations such as Monsanto, ConAgra, and the like. Among other things, it pays these and other corporate farms money not to grow food, which artificially controls prices. More importantly it keeps food out of poor children's mouths. Far more than what depriving people food stamps has ever done.
and besides, they can eat at work, you know all of them farm jobs available that the former illegal immigrants will be too good for now that they're made citizen?

The common misconception of the Unthinking Left who cry a river for illegal immigrants is that they take jobs Americans won't do, like agricultural jobs, because the work is beneath them. Well, with the current legislation being argued which would give 11 million illegals citizenship, the natural conclusion is that once they become citizens they will find that kind of work beneath them as well. This then draws us to the obvious point that we will have an overwhelming number of agricultural jobs available.

Since we know that all those people on food stamps aren't lazy, they're just having a rough go at it, can't find work, and will do whatever is needed to survive -- the poor, or rather most of the reported poor will now all be able to find work in the agricultural sector. As a boon, they will be able to graze in the fields where they work, enjoying a bountiful harvest.

See, that wasn't so hard to understand, now was it?

alright, lesson over, back to the litterbox you go...

Ok, so cutting $2b annually from a $80b program is 'cutting food stamp funding to the bone'...really?...:lamo

Haven't you and others of your ilk been professing how the administration has turned this economy around and now it is going gangbusters, especially UE...if it is going so well why can't we reduce SNAP 2.5%?

Re: Tea Partiers Kill Farm Bill Because It Didn't Punish Poor Kids - The GOP"s Future

Lol. Liberals really are pimps and dealers. Getting people hooked and dependent on them to be their patrons. Really sick.

Who's crying a river for immigrants?

Farm subsidies are generally a good idea -- a form of food insurance to make sure we always have produce like oranges and wheat. The market would result in years with lots of cheap oranges and then no oranges at all, or few.

Agricultural subsidies work. The last thing we need is crank libertarian economics messing with our food supply.
