I feel bad for them.

On NPR some Chinese think tank leader compared Taiwan to Alaska and Hawaii to say the US wouldn't let them declare independence why should they let Taiwan?

From freedom and prosperity to socialism and deprivation.

Taiwan is on their own if China assaults them.

The USA doesn't have any fight left in the tank even if we did want to get involved.

We have just been thoroughly embarrassed and shamed by a bunch of sandal wearing pedophiles and goat ****ers. So, the imbeciles in DC won't be letting the military stick its neck out anytime soon.

I suggest that the State Department send Xi a strongly worded letter of condemnation in the even of a invasion. :ROFLMAO:

I'm sure they'll do exactly that.

Oh well, Taiwan isntbthe only country in danger of going from freedom and prosperity to socialism and deprivation.

US show of weakness

So now you expect us to go back to being the world's policemen and to rescue Taiwan, and I suppose you expect us to do it alone, yes?

I suggest taking a look at Shanghai

Look at what it looked like in 1980 vs today.

Deprivation would be the last thing a person would think of when seeing Shanghai today

No I'm actually glad Biden is run by people who won't interfere with Asian territorial disputes. Maybe something good will come from the Biden presidency.

I can still feel bad for Taiwann.

imo It would take a year at the least for China to win and is more likely to end in a draw.

A Chinese attack on Taiwan would be the rest of the developed worlds best opportunity to put China back in it's cage before they become too strong. Left to do what they want, China re unlikely to stop at Taiwan. Wait a few years and there will be another target as they get stronger and stronger.

When China rightfully regains control of Taiwan little will change except for the political system, which will become much more efficient and less prone to crony capitalism and corruption. If Taiwan continues to be a rogue province it will undoubtedly end up like the american political system, rife with crony capitalism and political corruption. This is the eventual future of Taiwan.

Why would anyone want to stop China? Look at the economic miracle that China has produced. More than 750 billion people have been pulled out of poverty and are entering the middle class, and this transformation is accelerating. In the US, how many have been pulled out of poverty and into the middle class in the last 20 years? Not many. In fact, the US middle class is shrinking at an alarming rate and half the country is on the brink of financial devastation as they live paycheck to paycheck, hoping they don't get sick. The best thing the corrupt western "democracies" could do is let the chinese system of government take its place. For those who still cling to ridiculous ideas, start shopping for a tent and a vacant 10x10' area to call home.

The thing is that if Mainland China wants to invade and re-incorporate Taiwan into the motherland, it will do so.

And there's not much that can stop it.

During the past 20 years, the Chinese Military has made HUGE progress in technology and efficiency and has now an annual budget of 350 billion $ already.

It also outperforms the US Military in certain areas already (source: Pentagon report).

Taiwan is right at the doorstep of China, while the US is thousands of miles away and just left Afghanistan in a tough sell to American voters.

China will for now wait until the Winter Olympics are over and then intensify planning and maneuvers to take back Taiwan, but may eventually decide against a full-blown invasion out of economic reasons (pressure from the West, sanctions, boycott).

If the DO invade Taiwan however, the Pentagon reports argue that Taiwan (with some US help) cannot fight for more than 2-3 days to a week until they need to surrender to the Xi forces, to avoid catastrophic civilian losses ...

I'm delighted that China has improved living conditions for many of it's people. Just need them to stay focused on that rather than raiding wealth from other countries, breaking international agreements, starting trade wars, human rights abuses, and threatening military action (either overtly or indirectly) against other nations.

FFS quit this shit right there. China and their form of government sucks balls. They have not pulled anyone out of poverty since they turned to communism.

Ill take liberty and freedom over that crap in China and Xi and his dictatorship for life bullshit.

That is your choice, make your bed and lie in it. If you think you have more freedom and liberty than the average chinese national, just ask anyone who refuses federal vaccine mandates how much liberty and freedom they really have.

Nice try but a failure. Since I really do not care what a bunch of conspiracy/anti-government nuts think about getting vacsinated. That and coming back with what about....is pretty lame.

I really just do not want a government that disappears people with no chance of justice (among other things like dictating how many kids you can have and much, much worse). And since you are here as a communist protecting the Chinese government, I suspect that you are here to only spread your stupid propaganda as a supporter of all the ills of the Chinese government.

After all, it is common knowledge how China treats its citizens. Or are you seriously going to pretend that China is benevolent? Oh, wait you are a communist of course you are going to lie about China it's what your ideology does.

Out of curiosity, have you stopped to think that a lot of what you hear may not actually be true, or is seriously distorted to create a false impression or narrative? Is the Chinese government the best thing since sliced bread? No, and sometimes it is pretty heavy handed. But for the vast majority of the Chinese it works for them and they are happy. Maybe 5, even 10% aren't happy. Well, it is difficult to satisfy everyone. But then, if someone is really thinking critically, doesn't every government seem heavy handed at times and does what others may be considered human rights violations? Guantanamo Bay? Look at what Australia is doing at the moment. How many people are dissatisfied with the US Government? Is the US government pretty heavy handed at times? Does the US off people? Drone strikes? In your land of liberty and freedom, how many are incarcerated? What is the story with the police there? Why does BLM exist? You see, there are well over 7.5 billion people on this planet and they all see what happens in the US and an impression is formed and a narrative is spun that shows the US as hypocritical global bully. Is it true? Maybe not to you but ask the population of any country that the US is currently occupying or sanctioning what they think of the US and you will hear a much different opinion. Maybe you are a victim of propaganda as well, but this time it is US propaganda.

Other than complain, it is unlikely that the US (or the UN for that matter) will get involved. The only angle here from the Afghanistan withdraw is the perception by the Chinese that we have become as weak and despondent as the media suggests given the political mess going on here at home.

On a practical note, it is not very wise for the US to get into a military engagement against China over Taiwan.

No matter how we got here and no matter anyone's pie in the sky solutions to the issue, our economy still has too many links and reliance on China. Same is moderately true the other direction when it comes to their productivity gains and nature of their economy today.

Military capability here has nothing to do with willingness to deploy.

Taiwan is in real danger here, and it would not take China very long to seize control if they wish to take it.

This is the modern world where we have the internet. I can and have personally talked to Chinese citizens in video games. Video games are a way for them to avoid the prying eyes of their government. ANd by prying eyes I mean if they communicate forbidden topics online it's off to a labor camp for them or worse.

So stop the gaslighting dude no one is buying it. I never said that the US was perfect. But there is no reason for us to turn far, far left.

And welp a one-party system means you have no actual rights at all. Not when the government can do whatever they want. Your system sucks.

Seems I am talking to a video game playing teenager who really hasn't experienced much of the world yet. I'm pretty sure you haven't actually been to Shanghai and experienced for yourself how Chinese communism really works. I'm pretty sure you haven't been to LA either and have seen just how effective crony capitalism is either. In fact, a walk around Shanghai will convince you that the Chinese are probably more capitalist than the US and the US is turning far left of communist China. Sooner or later you will realize just how deeply you are regulated by your government, how dependent you really are on your government, and how intrusive it really is in your daily life. To make a long story short, it's often said that "As goes California, goes the rest of the country." Well, when I was a kid I loved Venice Beach. This is Venice Beach today and a chilling sign of where the US is heading:

And if you think this system is great and the envy of the world, I have bad news for you. The rest of the world doesn't see the US infighting between left and right, we see what is really happening and the hidden fight is the government vs. the people. Think about it. Why has your government stoked so much hatred between the people lately? Why does it let BLM and Antifa do that damage with no consequences and even helps them find funding? All this stuff about racism? Hating Trump supporters? The plan, as it seems to the rest of the world, is to get the US to descend into chaos so that the federal government has to step in and assume total control and abolish the current system, which obviously didn't work, and institute a new system that has far better control of an unruly and dangerous population. And if you really think about it, Social Media along with covid restrictions and vaccine passports are just laying the initial groundwork. So, enjoy your current limited freedoms, as they most likely won't be there much longer.

Dude, I was wrong you are obviously a POE. Nice try but you outed yourself parroting Trump talking points

Typical American! You go on thinking everything revolves around Trump. Trump has nothing to do with global politics and the eventual rise of a better global system that is not dominated by the US. What you Americans can't see, but most of the rest of the world can, is that the corrupt US government is the scourge of the world. Worse, it is extremely hypocritical and accuses China and many other countries of being totalitarian governments, while doing worse to its own citizens. The rest of the world doesn't blame Trump for everything, we blame the US for everything. And what's becoming painfully evident is that the US people are completely ignorant of what the US is becoming and refuse to step up and prevent something far worse than your perception of China. The real threat against global peace is not the Rise of China, it's the response of the tyrannical US to that rise. Now, back to your video games and hating Trump.

Anyone who thinks the PRC doesn’t have massive issues with corruption is totally clueless. Unfortunately for you, the people of Taiwan have no interest living under a genocidal dictatorship.

Taiwan is part of China.

but most of the rest of the world can, is that the corrupt US government is the scourge of the world.

One of the scourges, anyway.
it is extremely hypocritical and accuses China and many other countries of being totalitarian governments, while doing worse to its own citizens.

I don't believe that the US does worse things to its citizens than China.
In China a wealthy businessman was just imprisoned for 18 years for criticizing the government.
what's becoming painfully evident is that the US people are completely ignorant of what the US is becoming

Yeah, cant argue with that. Most Americans (present company excluded of course) are pretty darned ignorant. They're imbued from birth with a sense that the US is some noble and good entity that cant possibly do wrong. LMAO. I once was a professors assistant at a college. On the topic of Iraq, one student made a comment like "The invasion cant be wrong, we're America." Thats how many see it. Completely indoctrinated and oblivious to any objectivity.

The real threat against global peace is not the Rise of China, it's the response of the tyrannical US

Yes, the US is the biggest threat to world peace IMO. Pretty obviously. When the shit hits the fan, it will have been caused by the shenanigans of the US and Israel is what I believe.
