"SYSTEMIC RACISM" Did George Floyd have a criminal past and why was he stopped by police?

Re: "SYSTEMIC RACISM" Did George Floyd have a criminal past and why was he stopped by police?

Nope, don't need to do any sort of thing...you asked who is more likely to commit a crime against you a black man or white man.

No, "you" wasn't involved in my question

... can you show that whites are as likely to commit violent crime?

Re: "SYSTEMIC RACISM" Did George Floyd have a criminal past and why was he stopped by police?

As I understand it, George Floyd was originally placed in the police car. He became claustrophobic and started thrashing about, so they brought him back outside, which is where the video everyone saw took place. I do not know if those are the true events, but that is what a few people on the forums have said. Either way, I agree with you that the homicide was in no way justified.

Oh people struggle inside cop cars all the time, it's routine, and sometimes they do something quite different, they pull the suspect out, HOG TIE them and call a paddy wagon instead, or if he's actually having a full blown psychotic break, an ambulance.

What they don't do is pull them out and cut off the blood supply to the brain.
Not S.O.P.

Which part of

The part where you're incapable of debating without resorting to dodging, deflecting and projecting.
Nite.

Re: "SYSTEMIC RACISM" Did George Floyd have a criminal past and why was he stopped by police?

Oh come on-spending thousands of the taxpayers' dollars on painting "BLACK LIVES MATTER" on a main street in DC will help with all that.

Gee I wonder how much it cost American taxpayers for Trump and Barr to funnel in all those federal officers and troops from around the country, along with military vehicles, helicopters, horses and etc., to clear a path for a five minute Presidential photo-op. I would think we can safely that figure would be in the millions.

whataboutism and its stupid worst.

Re: "SYSTEMIC RACISM" Did George Floyd have a criminal past and why was he stopped by police?

Male Americans are 50 times more likely than women to be killed by the police. Has nothing to do with sexism just as your statistics have nothing to do with racism.

We aren't talking about male vs female. We are talking about black vs white. That is what this is about. In 2019 black Americans ere nearly 3 times more likely to be killed by the police than white Americans. Other statistics show that they are 1 1/2 times more likely to be unarmed before their deaths. Overall 24% of all police killings in 2019 were of black Americans when just 13% of the US population is black.

pogroms in USA

Re: "SYSTEMIC RACISM" Did George Floyd have a criminal past and why was he stopped by police?

Maybe George disagreed and decided to try and kick them while they were trying to get his seat belt on.

????? Whose trying to sanitize? I think its a gross overuse of force by the police. They are being prosecuted for their crimes. I just don't engage in the usual desperate efforts to paint this with a racist brush.

After looking at RealityNow’s link— which only shows the cops pulling GF out of the car, not why they did so—I tend to believe GF probably did something to provoke retaliation. Probably it was intended to be a roughing-up, one which got out of control, partly because guys like Chauvin and Thao had got away with rough stuff before.

Alternatively , I guess the cops might have suddenly realized they were behind on their quota for killing black guys, so they decided to play catch-up.

Re: "SYSTEMIC RACISM" Did George Floyd have a criminal past and why was he stopped by police?

Neither I nor anyone else here is claiming they are justified. You kicked the **** outta that strawman.

You were justvsaying that they wiuldn'5 have had to kill him if he had just obeyed.

Plenty of people on the forum are claiming the police were justified. That's why they bring up Floyd's criminal past, to justify his desth.

Re: "SYSTEMIC RACISM" Did George Floyd have a criminal past and why was he stopped by police?

It does need to calm down a lot. There is that video implying a struggle within the car, the officers bodycams have not been released, Minneapolis PD allowed for chokeholds in subduing the arrested

Yeah, but it's the Minneapolis police. You've clearly never had to deal with them.

Re: "SYSTEMIC RACISM" Did George Floyd have a criminal past and why was he stopped by police?

Her death didn't fuel a world wide anything. Nor should it. Floyd has no control of how his name will be used. Those around him sure do. Floyd's death sparked a a massive civil unrest. The democrat party will fully surrender to it. Race is Power. Exploitive people will use it. In a couple years another white cop will kill a black and here we go again. Cops screw up. Dead whites don't trigger anything.
People are being used. Inner city black on black killings will continue. Not much can or will be done.

Kneeling on a dude's neck until he dies is not simply "screwing up" it is something inherently wrong with how the police operate.

If people refuse to understand that, then I am not sure what else to say.

Re: "SYSTEMIC RACISM" Did George Floyd have a criminal past and why was he stopped by police?

that was a new information for me. one for sure, a person with such criminal records ´d avoid conflicts with law-enforcement, not just in USA but literally everywhere in the world . its very dangerous

"The Houston Chronicle reports that 13 years ago, Floyd was charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon - citing Harris County Court records....In 2009, Floyd served a five-year prison sentence as part of a plea deal on the 2007 charge of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon, reports the Houston Chronicle."

can somebody verify this George Floyd crime record list?

Floyd had a record so he deserved to be choked to death by the racist cop. Is that your argument?

The US shoots, kills and imprisons more people than other developed countries. Here's what the data says - CNN

Each nation listed below either accompanies the US in the G7 group of the world's most advanced economies, or is ranked similarly on global wealth, freedom and democracy indexes. But when it comes to policing and criminal justice, the US is a noticeable outlier, and black Americans are disproportionately affected.

You were saying?

Well that changes everything.

Nobody is justifying his death.

Where have you been? LOTS of people are trying to justify his death. They're parading around his previous convictions as if that's justification and defending the cop as if he did nothing wrong and that Floyd deserved it. Open your eyes and don't cover up for these people.

Re: "SYSTEMIC RACISM" Did George Floyd have a criminal past and why was he stopped by police?

My fellow African-Americans, why is the official residence of the US President in Washington called the White house? Is there a hidden racism here? Think about it!

See Minneapolis police manual. That cop was hired, trained and supervised by MInneapolis .

Aren't they going to disband their police force and rebuild it?

Seems that they are beholden to the people.

This implies a plan is in place, intentionally being taught and executed across the sphere of society. You are saying everyone is using this and everyone is systematically racist. Just not true. You shouldn't blame all cops or all white cops for the actions of a few, just as society shouldn't blame all blacks for the actions of a few.
