Rendell also dismissed the fact, widely noted in the state, that President Barack Obama did not come to Pennsylvania in the campaign’s final days to campaign for Specter. Instead, Specter relied heavily on a television ad showing Obama praising Specter at a large rally.
My take on this is twofold.
1) You are seeing real Liberals and real Conservatives win the primaries, and not those who are going to cave into special interests, as Specter did, and also as Mich McConnell is doing (He supported Trey Grayson in KY).
2) And the most important point? Voters are booting out imcumbents and establishment picks of both parties. They have had enough.
What we are seeing in both parties is one hell of a good sign, and shows me that there is hope for the future.
Whores begone!!
Anyone care to answer my question?
Once thought to be an unalloyed asset for most any Democratic candidate, Obama’s personal involvement is no longer guaranteed — or guaranteed to succeed.
In close to a dozen contests, Obama’s intervention hasn’t paid dividends — whether in picking winners in a party squabble like Pennsylvania, recruiting candidates for targeted seats, or on the stump in the final days of close contests in Massachusetts, Virginia and New Jersey.
PHILADELPHIA – U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter on Tuesday was defeated in a Democratic primary in his bid for a sixth term after taking the risky step of switching from the GOP.
Voters picked U.S. Rep. Joe Sestak as the party's nominee and rejected the 80-year-old Specter in his first Democratic campaign.
With 65 percent of precincts reporting, Sestak received 339,402 votes, nearly 53 percent. Specter received 304,179 votes, about 47 percent.
Awesome doesn't even begin to describe this.
Next stop: McCain

You are hilarious!!!! Specter a Republican??? HahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaGood news. Specter was always a Republican. I'm glad to see the Democrats boot him for a real Democrat.
There's no difference between electing a Republican and electing a Republican pretending to be a Democrat.

And I thought Obama was wrong about that.

Meh, Specter has been a fairly reliable Democratic vote since he switched parties, so I wouldn't have been upset if he had won. I'm not going to shed any tears for his loss though. Sestak appears to be polling stronger against Toomey anyway.
