I went back to work this week. It's mandatory for employees to wear masks inside or outside if social distancing is not possible. Here are the mistakes I saw.
1) People with their noses out. I don't know how many people I had to ask to tuck their nose in. Some masks are crap and constantly fall down. Just wear a surgical mask instead of having to figit all day long.
2) People taking their mask off to speak to somebody.
3) Several people seem to keep their mask in their office. They will walk through the whole building maskless until they get to their office upon arrival.
4) Nobody wears a mask in the building that has the time clock.
5) I saw one girl who had three surgical masks hanging up to dry out and use again.
6) People walking into the building and then gradually putting on the mask after passing several people.
7) People just straight up not wearing the mask. They do sometimes but not always.
I'm sure there is more. This goes on everywhere. If we could just tighten up on the basics we would be doing much better right now.
One thing people aren't paying attention to is the fact that science is moving at lightning speed to develop not only vaccines but also strong antiviral medications, which while not able to PREVENT COVID, will indeed lessen the severity if administered in a timely manner at symptom onset.
The general idea is that most of the antivirals will be nasal sprays, and will work somewhat similar to Tamiflu. It's likely that the antivirals will be in the pipeline before the vaccines, so really healthy people can take advantage of them and manage to get over COVID with less damage.
Yes, they will have to quarantine but at least they won't be risking death or serious lifetime damage.
The point being, we need to be patient because the sacrifices are temporary and if ALL of US would just cooperate, the amount of time would be shortened drastically. Instead too many of us are behaving like a kid with poison ivy, the more we scratch, the worse it gets.
Sigh, been watching other countries where they DID have to cooperate...YES BY FORCE!
(again...TEMPORARY)
And the reality is, they flattened it quicker and now they are reopening.
Yes, they are experiencing small flareups here and there and going back into short lockdowns in some local areas.
Yes, it is fits and starts but still, at least they are able to reopen somewhat.
Our parents and grandparents had to ration almost everything in shared sacrifice for WW2, and we're just being asked to stay home as much as possible, wear masks, sanitize and stay six feet apart....for a WHILE.
