Yes, **** those guys. My choices are "nazi vikings" or "imperial inquisition?" Nah. Assholes wanna murder other assholes all day, not my problem. By the time I've even thought about any of that quest line, I'm hideously powerful already. Unconcerned with the squabblings of insects. Have a World Eater to kill.

I totally get it; I know one can finish the main quest by having the Greybeards hold a "truce negotiation" between Gen. Tallius, Ulfric Stormcloak and the Jarl of Whiterun... but to do so you have to give away Riften and/or Markarth to the other side. No biggie there BUT when that happens, the Blades learn who is the Grand Master of the Greybeards and give me an ultimation; kill the Grand Master or they won't work with me any more.

I now get the Civil War over early in order to do the entire Blades' set of quests, start to finish, before my character learns who is the Grand Master of the Greybeards. That way I get the Blade's perks, set them up with a new set of followers as Blades, and then I have my character finish off the Greybeards quest without have orders to kill a character I don't really want to kill!

I've learned the hard way that it's often not what my character does, but when my character does it that matters, lol.

Apparently modlists are a thing these days with a tool called Wabbajack. If you have a Nexus premium account it can auto-download an entire list of mods. Easily worth tossing a few bucks at Nexus. I'm currently downloading Total Skyrim Overhaul which is over 100 gigs of stuff, with a few clicks.

I'm surprised a tool like this ever got official support from the Nexus site and the modding community, because the Skyrim modding community is full of complete and utter ****heads.

I discovered one of the neat things about being able to fly is getting to those hard to reach areas a whole lot easier. I can’t thank you enough DiAnna just for that info alone.

You're very welcome. I know, places where you have to jump a dozen times and fall on your ass just to get to a tasty chest, only to end up saying to hell with it, and deciding the loot isn't worth the bother, right? I also use it in places like Pinewatch, where within the first two minutes you walk by the door to your quest item, only to find it barred, and know that it will take an hour of winding hallways and slaughter to get to the other side of said door after gathering your loot. I just "fly" through the door, turn "fly" off, unbar the damned door and sneak to find the stuff I'm after. Slam-bam, thank you ma'am, kill the bandit leader, gather my loot, and out I go in less than 10 minutes! (Did I mention I cheat... a lot? :lol

I really want to tell you to buy a PC just for Skyrim, because you are missing out on so damned much fun, but I know how much X-Boxers love their platform! Me, I love my keyboard too much, and not sure I could ever get proficient with those game controller dohickies, lol. Y'all must have double-jointed thumbs! I'm kinda envious, actually.

Hopefully Skyblivion and Skywind will be out before then. Either of those (or both, please) will keep me occupied for another 3 years, which looks like the more realistic ETA.

Me too! Baldur's Gate was my very first video game ever; a bunch of us got to chat with BioWare developers/designers back in the day, and some of us even got "roles" in Baldur's Gate II as NPCs, most notably Gromnir, who got a big role in one of the mods. Mine was Lady Di, a snotty prude, who had a single appearance and a single line, lol. I don't even recall what the line was!

My first foray into CRPGs was Curse of the Azure Bonds. I'll never forget the utter nerd glory, surrounded by guys working in the school computer lab, as they watched me defeat the possessed Storm Giant. Sweaty nerd hi-fives all around.

It was in that game, with the rudimentary character customization, that my go-to avatar, the redheaded warrior Fley (old Scottish word for "cause to fear"), was born.

Good times.

I began playing RPG on the PC. Even have (still) a gamepad designed for games on pc. I just prefer the ease of controllers. Although now they have them for pc use also.

Here’s a hint if you are into smithing leveling. Creating Nordic armor levels very fast. And selling them gives a great return.

It may be a result of one of many mods I play with, but I think you can create gold jewelry using just gold pieces. Then you can enchant that jewelry and sell it for a good return!

The limiting factor for the enchanting is soul gems, but you can buy piles of those.

If you do this in a loop to max out enchanting/smithing, though, it tends to make the game trivial. Like "I just sneak attack killed a dragon" trivial.

Some activity seems tedious - like building and furnishing your homes. I don’t like to spend alot of time on those so I don’t mind using a cheat. Don’t really need a home either but it’s sorta cool having all that is available. I guess I’m a greedy bast***.

If you assign a follower to be your home's steward, you can tell them to just go buy furnishings. Poof, house furnished.

Yea really. I just love using the Dragonrend shout and beat the crap out them critters on the ground. Using the dragonbane sword �� makes quick work of them.

Total Skyrim Overhaul was a bust. It includes some seriously hardcore mods for combat, including stuff I haaaaaate like equipment breakage. So bad that the first wolf I fought hit me once and broke my bow. Yeah, no thanks.
