Funny how I used to think like you...but thanks to a career in the military - which included going around this world and seeing that yes, people really are the same all over the world (local religions and social mores notwithstanding) - I now know better.

Maybe you've been in the military, but I'm guessing you haven't. If you haven't, then do yourself a real favor - go join the military (preferably the Navy) and see the world...and then chances are, when you come back home, you'll be a bit heartbroken because it's almost as is you've begun to speak a different language, one that is informed by experiences that your one-time friends at home never dreamed possible. Chances are it will change you, and help you to grow in ways you never dreamed possible.

But it's also possible that you've been in the military, and somehow avoided learning what is there for all to learn.

There are a lot of good people of all colors and religions around the world. Quite a few bad ones too. And, whites are far from immune. Typically, at least in my experience, the majority of people are decent and a few bad apples ruin an entire community. It really goes to hell when the leader of said "community" is a POS, like Donald Trump.

If Jews would have fought back they would have been looked upon the way Black Lives matters currently is today. As miscreants and violent criminals. Even after Newtown Democrats did not try and ban guns. They tried to extend background checks to all purchases, they tried to increase waiting periods, and they tried to limit the number of bullets a gun could hold. The dems couldn't ban guns because of the Heller decision. and the Dems knew what happened in 1994 when they and a few morons on the GOP side of the aisle voted for the moronic Clinton Gun Ban. The dems got destroyed in the elections a few months later. limiting the number of bullets is a stepping stone to a gun ban. because it won't do crap and when it won't, the gun banners will demand less bullets. 90% of Americans didn't support that nonsense. and the only way you can claim so many liberals are "fine" with the second amendment is to pretend the second amendment doesn't prevent the crap the left wants to pass

Ever spent much time in Western Europe, or Australia, or New Zealand, or Japan, or Taiwan, or South Korea? They are ALL quite socialized...as is AMERICA.

That's the problem, guy - y'all hear the word "socialism", and all you can think of are visions of the USSR, as if the USSR was the very definition of socialism...and you're quite mistaken. YES, "Socialist" was part of the name of the USSR, but thinking that socialism is the same thing as communism is no different from looking at the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and thinking that North Korea is a democratic republic.

First, you need to get a grip on what socialism really is in the WEST. Our school system is socialized - and if you don't think it works well, try finding a nation where there's no public education, and let me know how well that worked out for the people. Our health care system for the poor and elder is socialized...and if you think that's a bad thing, try going somewhere where there's no such system of care for the poor and elderly, and let me know how well that's working out for the population. Hell, our active-duty military health care system - TriCare (which I happily use to this day) - is about as socialized as you're ever going to see!

And FYI, yeah, I've sent both my sons to college, I own a house, I run a business...and that's another one of the misconceptions of the Right - that we on the Left somehow don't pay taxes. Hell, we pay MORE taxes than y'all do! Don't believe me? Try looking at the list of states by median income, and you'll find that the states with the highest median income are almost all BLUE states...and the states with the lowest median income are almost all RED states. In fact, red states generally RECEIVE more in federal funding than they pay out in federal taxes, and blue states generally PAY more in federal taxes than they receive in federal funding.

Look at what states have the lowest standards of living, and the highest rates of poverty - they're almost all RED states! If we liberals and progressives were as terrible as you seem to believe, then the states we govern should be WORSE off, shouldn't they? But they're not.

But that's only a fact...and as we've seen by the rise of Trump, little things like facts and reality need not apply when it comes to the Right.

Loads of progressive people are not socialists, socialism is a bad thing. Socialism like Marx stood for is an impossible thing, there is no one size fits all person on this earth and most progressives want more social cohesion and more personal freedoms, not socialism where private property, people owning business and property is banned.
