I would like to see nearly everything possible used in America made in America... and that includes the flag.
I read through this thread and just feel well..disappointed. There is a great disconnect Americans seem to have with jobs what simple things like getting American people jobs making American flags.
Obviously the US government, states, NASA, and the military think it is a big enough deal because they receive all of their flags from a company called Annin & Co. flags based out of New Jersey, and has manufacturing in Ohio and Virginia as well.
does it really matter? what USA will gain by that?
If they import the flag means they need a proper textile to make it.
Russia import oranges and most of fruits coz the climate there is not appropriate.
All EU import coffea from Brazil coz the land and climate is more appropiate there.
It's not such a big deal imo.
whatever Shirt you decide to make, you'll end up at China for cottonMe too! Esp. the flag. Also what about these USA pride T-Shirts? Wearing them to support our country but they are made frigging overseas.

Top US ImportsThe USA would gain putting more folks back in the work force as they would probably create more factory jobs to make these flags. Anything that gets our citizens back to work right now? I support!
Damn all this shipping our jobs overseas. We should make it so costly on these big biz. that ship out jobs overseas that they will find it best to keep the work here at home where it should be.
I thought you said it was all about respect for the flag rather than protectionism. Make up your mind.
I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that the two most powerful congressmen are from Ohio and Virginia, and is strictly based on what's in the best interests of the American people.
Considering it is apparently the oldest flag manufacture in the United States and they made flags for the Union during the Civil War yeah.
not sure it has anything to do with John Bohener or Eric Cantor (I think is what you are getting at?)
Good for them. If that matters to you in your purchasing decisions, then by all means buy flags from them.
It's certainly not because the federal government wants to do what's in the best interests of the American people. I could give a damn where flags are manufactured. If I were so inclined to buy an American flag in the first place (which I'm not), I'd buy it from whoever would sell me the best product at the lowest price, regardless of their nationality. The government should generally operate under similar principles for goods/services it purchases...and it certainly shouldn't set up protectionist barriers to trade for other consumers.
So your opinion on this matters even less to me. Thanks for clearing that up.
Hey bud, YOU are the one who wants to force your purchasing decisions on the rest of the country. I'm not asking you to refrain from buying a flag just because I don't want one. So you should show everyone else the same courtesy instead of demanding that no one else buy a flag made in China just because YOU don't want one made in China. This is jingoistic protectionism at its worst.
So where were you on the decision of forcing people to buy an HDTV or a digital receiver? What about the fact that the government is forcing energy efficiency with light bulbs essentially phasing out several types of incandescent bulbs and phasing out several American jobs?
Once again I fail to see how wanting the American flag to be made in America and only in America is a bad thing. If other countries applied the same regulations I'm not going to hate on them, to me it only makes sense.
Your theoretical definition of communism are irrelevent. For all intents and purposes, the Chinese are communist. You do know that's a contradiction no?
And China is not Communist.
lol. We can grow cotton here. Don't get me started on textiles and what this has done to the South
I knew freeing the slaves was going to hurt this country....

Not only Our Flags but the vast majority of our defense arms, with the a few exceptions reserved for out closest allies such as the UK, Canada, Australia, Japan, and Israel.
Patriotism like charity should begin at home. Why allow places like China profit form our Patriotism?
Sure it's fine for the Anti-American left but not real Americans.
Your theoretical definition of communism are irrelevent. For all intents and purposes, the Chinese are communist.
There is no question. All this arguing about it is silly, and the point is moot. I'd say the Chinese communist know a hell of alot more about it than you.
