I was at Lost in the woods from April - August '05 for MP Officer Advance Course and then as a PL while the rest of the company went through MP conversion school.

I did my Engineering Assistant tech training school at Sheppard AFB, Witchita Falls, TX. talk about a ****hole.

Went to PLDC during late Jan - early Feb at Camp Shelby MS. land nav through a swamp in 22 degree weather with sleet and freezing rain was wonderful.

ANG 122nd Fighter Squadron CAM's 86-92.

Lackland for basic of course and Shoot me don't Chanute me in Illinois for weather school.

I wanted to be regular AF but was rejected for high arched feet (the ol' man was a Green Beret with higher arches than mine go figure). I tried again for ANG and they forgot to check my arches. My roommate in tech school had flat feet!

For everyone who spent any time at Ft Leonard Wood.... did you go to BIG LOUIE'S??? or Devil's Elbow BBQ joint?

devils elbow ftlw.webp

looks like a dump from the outside, bra's hanging from the ceiling on the inside, great Bar BQ though.

I never even knew high arches were a problem...

I wish We got one off base libbo pass while we were there, I went to Wall Mart lol. ( Not a fan of strip clubs.) But while we were there we Marines got a restraining order against from the AF.

We went through a refresher law enforcement academy at Benning and I volunteered to wear the "red man suit" and get mauled by the K-9. does that count?

Nope. trying wearing the ganulet (1/4 inch thick piec of leather just on ur arm) and also you must have a blood bit on record ( got mine in the head). But at least you know the pleasure of being OC =)

yeah, I'm not a big fan of strip clubs either, since these days most of the strippers are the same age as my daughter. I usually go as the DD and to watch the other guys act stupid and blow all their money. Though I did get kicked in the back of the head by a stripper on the warm-up stage at Louie's one trip. they gave me free drinks the rest of the night, hoping I wouldn't sue them.

I would take a tazer to the nuts on a weekly basis rather than go through OC again. They hazed the crap out of us. direct spray across the eyes from about a foot away. sent 13 guys to the ER because the spray actually got behind their eyeballs.

That sucks My face was Tic-tac-toe board for OC spray. Shooting someone is more humane then OCing them.

they hit us with the zorro "Z". across the eyes, down over the nose and then across the mouth. It was nearly 5 hours before the first of us was physically capable of driving. I think they had a bunch of cases of OC that were about to expire so they used them up on us. typically you get just a quick swipe and done. they used nearly a can per person. several of them got in pretty big trouble over the incident and a couple of the NCOs running the lanes lost a strip over it.

when we deployed last year and all the newbies had to go through OC, all of us that had deployed to Benning laughed at what a joke it was.

Damn, you are either old or worked on some classics. All you are missing is A4's(skooters).

Much love for Nellis, very nice base despite the weird rules.

Is 50 old? It doesnt feel old...but yeah...

I think all the services ought to maintain a fleet of F4's (or FB-111's) and make new recruits train on them. One, it gives them a healthy respect for drain ports, and two, if you can fix them you can fix anything. With all the mods there were never two aircraft alike. Plus it was just a badass jet...way ahead of its time. Back in those days at some time or anyother you worked on just about every conventional airframe they had including the prop jobs. Was fortunate enough to be on a deployable en-route team that basically went anywhere to fix downed aircraft. Worked some Canadian jets, a few Brit Tornados, others.
