Scientists discover that atheists might not exist, and that’s not a joke...

atheists might not exist,

Why lie about what you post elora?

I just turned 69 this month...heard someone say once that complaining about God being silent while your Bible is closed is like complaining about not getting texts when your phone is turned off...just something to think about...

If God was really a god He could text you even if your phone was turned off. That's why they call Him God am I right?

If God was really a god He could still text you even if your phone was turned off. That's why they call Him God am I right?
Well, obviously you did not get the point...

“Lost children of the universe feel lonely and purposeless. So they join groups and cults that give them a sense of belonging and purpose. A seeker must walk alone!”

I suggest some of the difference may be explained as an inability to separate God and religion. It is my experience, having been "reborn" and learned to pray in tongues, is that religion is bullshit invented for the purpose of directing or controlling other's behavior. Prior to the "Roman"church, homosexuality was practiced across the know world, even during the time of Christ. It did not become a taboo until after the fall of Rome and the Catholics took over and ruled as a defacto government for a few hundred years.

Like many 'converts' I got sober with a 'higher power' over three decades ago. I have been with churches who ban open toed shoes for women and absolutely no dancing. I have been a member of a Baptist congregation which had a lesbian pastor, and even drank wine at parties and hung out with some Holy Rollers who prayed in tongues....deliberately led there to expand my horizons.

In the end none of them can answer some significant questions. Like, why would God go to the trouble of creating 100,000 Egyptians only to drown them in the Red Sea? Surely to God (sorry) there were simpler, less dramatic options. But slaughtering everyone is kind of well, humanistic.

And how come only Noah and his kids? An which of his kids was Chinese, which was Alluet etc. Only a totally incompetent human would wipe out the human race save for one stuppid boat load. And about that boat? Really? A wooden boat 600 feet long is simply not physically possible. And what about the feed necessary 10 super tankers? Or did everyone and thing go on a sea food diet?

In the end, I have discovered that my 'higher power", "Jesus", "Budah, and "Allah" are all pretty much the same guy. They all say the same thing: "Don't be an asshole!"

I don't care. To each their own belief or disbelief.

The important thing to remember, we're all spiritual human beings and have more in common than not.

I am not surprised that many atheists question things. Hey, let's face it if all they have is faith in themselves then the waning begins.

Well, obviously you did not get the point...

Seems to me that YOU did not get the point.

Without reading the entire linked article, I found the following words that seem to contradict the claim in regards to atheists AND religious believers:
"evidence from several disciplines indicates that what you actually believe is not a decision you make for yourself."

Exactly...belief is a part of our make-up...

Not at all...did you read the article...it points out that being an atheist goes against our make-up, so in truth, atheists are being dishonest with themselves...
That is the opinion of someone who pushes feng shu. It's a blog piece, nothing else.

Wrong...he quotes scientists...

One thing he does not quote is, well, studies. It's an opinion piece in a place that lets people self publish , without peer review.

You seem almost obsessed with atheists. Like seriously. Why does it bother you so much what other people believe?

I promise you I don’t believe in anything like the immortal soul or the afterlife.

Riddle me this. If it's in our makeup to believe in a god, why do we have to be taught about god and religion?

Because otherwise, we make up our own god tales...

.God never promised us a stress free life but He did promise us the strength to endure whatever life throws at us...
God must have broken his promise, or there wouldn't be so many suicides---unless one is prepared to declare committing suicide is displaying "strength."

.atheism dehumanizes a person...
I can't imagine anything more "dehumanizing" than being shunned by one's own family members, simply for not embracing a specific religious dogma. Isn't this what Jehovah Witnesses do with/to family members who leave/disavow the JW religious sect, and it's teachings?

Endurance requires relying on Him 1st and foremost...

Those who leave oftentimes turn against the family member who is still a JW...I've seen it happen many times...

I can certainly understand why, after being shunned by family members, simply for not embracing a religious dogma/belief. That's beyond "dehumanizing." It's flat-out insanity.
