How shocking! Again, Fox News viewers lag behind when it comes to proper information. It does not matter than the worldwide scientific consensus is almost at 100%, the FoxNews maching will keep on feeding the willing sheeple.

Scientists: ’93 percent’ of Fox News climate change coverage is ‘staggeringly misleading’

When it comes to reporting on what scientists say about climate change, the Union of Concerned Scientists told Raw Story that their research shows Fox News can be counted upon to mislead its viewers.
In a study (PDF) published Monday, the group takes Fox News and The Wall Street Journal‘s editorial page to task for consistently misleading their audience on climate change. Data collected over six months showed that Fox News was the worst offender on climate issues between the two, allowing misleading statements to permeate “93 percent” of its broadcasts on the subject from February to July 2012. The Journal‘s editorial page did not fare much better, however: the Union said “81 percent” of their climate coverage from August 2011 to July 2012 was “misleading.”
“[Fox News and The Wall Street Journal] both were staggering in the levels of misleading information about climate science,” Brenda Ekwurzel, a climate scientist with the Union of Concerned Scientists, told Raw Story. “We found that both Fox News and [The Wall Street Journal] opinion page have staggeringly high levels of misinformation.”

93% is actually a medium level of missleadingness by the magnificent FOX truth seeking news corporation

Its usually up around 97.3%.

An achievement

What's sad is I doubt anybody is suprised. Even the people that get their news from Fox and WSJ.

I think alot of people who watch Fox actually believe what they are being told. You can tell what posters here watch Fox News on a regular basis.

Saw a funny comment in that article...it was something like "When Fox Execs saw the report they responded with "who made the decision on that 7% and why do they still have a job"".

Re: Scientists: 93% of Fox News climate change coverage is ‘staggeringly misleading.

Misleading title. It should read "Scientists on salary for global warming study says FOX is not truthful about what they do for a living."

Re: Scientists: 93% of Fox News climate change coverage is ‘staggeringly misleading.

With the Wall Street Journal they are referring to opinion pieces. And with Fox news they are including a show that has the editorial board of the Wall Street Journal on it. So maybe it should be about how the editorial board of the Wall Street Journal is misleading about climate change.

Re: Scientists: 93% of Fox News climate change coverage is ‘staggeringly misleading.

93% of Fox's climate coverage is on opinion shows, which represent what percentage of Fox broadcasts?

Either you got lost and wanted to post this in the Conspiracy Theories forum or you watch a lot of Fox News.

Even Fox's 'hard news' is hardly hard. Ever seen a Megyn Kelly interview? It's easy to decipher she's got a point of view that she wants to push. The only anchor that is fair, IMO, is Shephard Smith. BTW, did you see the O'Reilly interview with Ted Koppell? He said something that--to me--really stood out. He said back in the day, it was most difficult to guess the lean of an anchor based-on their work in front of the camera. To me, that is key.

And you're assuming somehow that they'll all get fired if they don't report findings from a pre-approved list? I very much doubt that these scientists' livelihoods are on the line over something so trite. But if you have actual evidence of duplicitous findings, please share them. Until then, there's no reason to doubt them.

You mean those shows that Fox puts on but doesn't focus in its advertisements, doesn't show as its flagship properties, doesn't run during primetime, and don't account for the vast majority of their viewership?

Except Koppel was just as biased as anyone else. Before the advent of conservative media, everyone was uniformally liberal, and thus all appeared to be neutral. There was no contrast or dissent to what the media was pushing.

Ted Koppel

Koppel is an excellent anchor. You are obviously not familiar with his work on Nightline.

Nightline is exactly whats hes being criticized for. The question isnt whether he is good at reading the news, but whether he is just as biased as the people hes criticizing. Whats worse, the anchor who hides the bias in his actions, or the one thats honest about?

Yes.

Point being, if Fox is 93% opinion shows, why shouldn't 93% of its climate coverage be biased?

I don't watch Fox. I don't have a TV.

Coming up after this short commercial break!

Re: Scientists: 93% of Fox News climate change coverage is ‘staggeringly misleading.

99% of people who hate Fox News believe 100% of all criticism leveled at the news organization at face value providing some irony as you read them discussing how dumb and mindless Fox viewers are with respect to accepting what Fox News has to say.

Re: Scientists: 93% of Fox News climate change coverage is ‘staggeringly misleading.

Can anyone please link the study done by UCS of the factual accuracy of MSNBC? Id like to see how they compare.

It's not even news. It is really bad low grade infotainment on the same level as people magazine.

I'd say they are pretty biased left. But in ther case of Climate Change, they are accurate.

I watched him for years and he's not. In fact, he is highly regarded amongst his peers past and present.

Re: Scientists: 93% of Fox News climate change coverage is ‘staggeringly misleading.

MSNBC is Democrat. FOX is Republican. What's so hard to understand about that?

Re: Scientists: 93% of Fox News climate change coverage is ‘staggeringly misleading.

Yes.

Point being, if Fox is 93% opinion shows, why shouldn't 93% of its climate coverage be biased?

Because it still markets those opinion shows as hard news.
