Record number of tourists in Spain | euronews, world news
So it's pretty safe to say that Spain has a killing tourist season. Much like in Greece, countries that were heavily affected by the crisis and have a high % of GDP in tourism, have lowered prices and that attracted many visitors which before may have had second thoughts or, for a steep price, prefered other locations. I think this is a good overall. I'd wish prices would drop everywhere and in all domains, not just tourism. Sadly, it's the policies of many countries to keep prices from going down.
The tourist industry had suffered a five million drop in tourists at the height of the economic crisis in 2009, but July’s figures of 7.9 million visitors will come as a welcome relief to the recession struck peninsula, since the industry accounts for 11 percent of the country’s GDP.
