Rand Paul to SC: DROP DEAD [W:53]

He did not say they should "drop dead."

That's what he SHOULD have said. Along with "**** YOU!!!!"

Though hopefully, a certain set of 5 of them will literally drop dead as soon as they can be replaced by someone literate, which is impossible at this time. So they should wait on that score. They've already done their damage for this year anyway.

I can certainly hope that ALL NINE OF THEM drop dead ASAP. None of them qualify as people that I'd help out of a burning automobile at this point. In fact, I might do everything in my power to ensure they COULD NOT get out of that vehicle.

If you don't think so then leave this country now, because that is one of our core principles.

Trust me, some of us are working on that exact option, as we speak. Unfortunately it appears that most US Consulate Offices/Embasies will not process a Renunciation of Citizenship unless you have citizenship in some other nation. Very frustrating, but I'm looking at ways around it.

Bah we all know there is no such thing as "objectively constitutional." It's all in the eye of the beholder. A good lawyer can argue it round, and he can argue it flat.

Rand Paul is the gift that just keeps on giving to those who despise his politics.

Rand Paul to Supreme Court: Drop dead - latimes.com

The Senator who is two full sandwiches short of a picnic now tells the world that it does not matter what the Supreme Court says regarding the constitutionality of the Affordable Health Care Law.

Amazing.

Ron Paul is not scarey and hes a likeable guy and he has some good ideas and he presents them like a gentleman....but his son is a flaming loon. He is scarey...he presents himself like hes a Czar and hes the only one thats right about anything. He thinks what he believes is the LAST WORD he has no respect for anything the Office of the President, Congress and now the Supreme Court...I pray this guy never gets in any position of authority moreso than what he has...to do damage...Conservatives, independents and liberals alike should fear this nutjob

I prefer to believe the words in the Constitution have meaning (and had actual meaning at the time it was written). /shrug

Ron Paul is scarey to me, but then, I don't believe we brought 9/11 on ourselves nor do I think it's a good thing for Iran to have nukes.

To: Rand Paul.

Yes, when 5 people on the supreme court say something is Constitutional, then it is.

If you don't think so then leave this country now, because that is one of our core principles.

Like just about every one of Obama's supporters who still chant about citizens united.

Do you ever tire of that little rubber hammer hitting your knee and forcing you into the automatic response?

Please stop with the harassing personal attacks. You bring less and less to this site as time goes on. Doubt you even believe the junk you put onto this site.

Personal attacks? Commenting on the predictable reaction from the right when they have to routinely bring up what they think the other side has done as a reflex mechanism to run from defending their own positions is right and proper and good.

Somebody criticizes Runt Paul for his stupidity on the Health Care decision and you have to bring up Citizens Untied. That little rubber hammer at work and the results are predictable.

It happens over and over and over again here. Somebody brings up the Koch Brothers and a few posts later its some right winger spouting off about George Soros. That little rubber hammer at work again.

Somebody talks about corporations who get out of paying taxes and a few posts later some right winger whines about the 47% who pay no federal income tax. That little rubber hammer at work again.

Its a reality here. Commenting on it is NOT a personal attack.

Apparently, bringing up Citizens United is like kryptonite to him. Lol.

You do realize all of your statements could be applied inversely correct? Deflection seems to be quite pervasive around election season.

So, in effect, expecting you to actually look critically at both sides is a complete waste of time and effort.

Well, it isn't beyond our imagination that the Supreme Court can make a bad decision that does go against the constitution, is it? Say like, supporting the internment of Japanese Americans to name just one of the glaring examples out there.

You know what makes this site predictable? That is when people do not bow down to the party line they are deemed right, left whatever.

I have been and continue to be a registered democrat for over 40 years. I also do not happen to agree with a lot of what is going on in this administration. I am concerned that what the party stood for, including equal opportunity for all has now been overtaken by your views of equal results for all.

I was part of a party that made it impossible for someone like LBJ to not even try and run for a second term because of his actions on the Vietnam war. We were not blind partisans like the current Obama supporters and were willing to seek real change. We cared about actions, not campaign slogans.

yup yup and I dont believe legalizing ALL drugs will do us any good either...Ron Paul is not as scarey as his kid...his kid is full range nuts..and he has a much bigger ego than even his father...whats scariest is that he believes his word is god....and everyone elses sucks that doesnt agree with him or him with them

That is ridiculous. You simply resent having your own knee jerk tactics called out.

I see no effort of any kind to "look critically at both sides" from the right here.

Maybe Im wrong, but didnt the supreme court rule that the ACA was merely a new 'tax' and if not seen as a 'tax' the individual mandate would indeed be unconstitutional? As a tax, congress can easily alter, adjust, or repeal. I'm not sure how Rand Paul's comments are any different from ANY opponent of any legislation or decision.

Yeah - we have heard this before. You stood still while the world moved and now it is the worlds fault. Got it.

The latter half of your sentence does not align with the introductory clause.

Not only that, but once the tax is actually active and one person has to pay, the whole thing can go back through the courts to find if the tax itself (taxing someone for not buying something) is Constitutional.

Look I am tired of your insults. What should this site expect when they allow paid political (you work for a legislator, correct) hacks to take people off topic and attack others.

If I am not mistaken you live in the broken state of Mich, go fix that. Maybe in a couple of decades you can get the value of a house in Detroit to be higher than the value of my car.

How sad it is to view your posts and to think that is what democrats call mainstream.

You making personal attacks and insults against me because I have an honest job working for the people of my state hardly gives you any credibility in defending yourself.

You attacking me and laying personal blame for any problems that Detroit or Michigan may have is absurd, ridiculous, and outright silly. Do I also get credit for any good things here as well?

Not only that, but once the tax is actually active and one person has to pay, the whole thing can go back through the courts to find if the tax itself (taxing someone for not buying something) is Constitutional.

The ruling opinion seems to be this:
The court acknowledged that the mandate “is plainly designed to expand health insurance coverage,” and noted that “taxes that seek to influence conduct are nothing new”—for example, the taxing of cigarettes to discourage smoking.

Explaining the Supreme Court Ruling on Obamacare - The Daily Beast

What I don't understand is that the mandate is considered constitutional as a tax, but unconstitutional through the commerce clause, and therefore, it can be constitutional. So the unconstitutional part is now constitutional even though its unconstitutional?
