From the reviews I have seen the black character is supposed to be educated but she plays it like a hood rat, which is the only character she can play.

She does the same thing on SNL every week.

Haven't watched much since Phil Hartman died. None of them are that funny while on the show really. Sandler. Tina Fey. The blond curly haired guy who's name escapes me from Talledega Nights. None funny on SNL.when they got to movies they found their step.in fact ... Sandler was annoyingly not funnynon SNL.

I just watched a dumb one the other day that was pretty good. I can't remember what it was though...I saw it after re-watching Dirty Mary Crazy Larry, which I haven't seen since 1975. What the hell was that flick? oh yeah---Death Race 2000. :lol:

Never bothered to watch that one...lookex idiotic. Most movies are pretty bad , in fact.

Cant stand those Mechanic or Transporter stupis Jason Stratham movies either. Just had to point that out.

Oh yeah. If I wasn't at work, I would not have bothered with them. But, I was trapped here...so, what the hell. I thought the chick was cute at least.

The original Roger Corman movie is a classic, unlike the remake they made that was just complete crap.

I don't want to say that Paul Feig made a sexist movie because I can't read minds and I don't know his motivations, but he is clearly part of the new Hollywood, which doesn't make good movies with good actors and good stories, they make politically-motivated films designed to cater to the regressive left. You don't go looking for the best person to fill a role regardless of skin color or gender or sexual orientation, you have to check off all of the "diversity" boxes so people don't get mad at you. People on the left don't go to see movies for entertainment anymore, they go as a political statement. That's what Feig and Sony have turned Ghostbusters into because they sure didn't make a good movie.

The pitch was to use the original actors, then Harold Remis died, then Weaver agreed to do it but only if her SON in the 2nd movie was one of the replacements, then she decommited. At this point, they could not have gotten studio support without some gimmick that will grab attention. Those are the facts, but i find it amusing and *regressive* that you have no similar rage against the original ghostbusters for intentionally excluding female, gay, asian, or hispanic leads

Your conjecture is just biased ranting. There have been ZERO gay, hispanic, or asian characters in the top 200 grossing sci fi and action movies. In fact, any gay theme will almost always get an R rating. Where's your rage about that? Clearly your contempt for "liberal" hollywood is just wildly inaccurate. The truth is that studios go for profit, that's it. As the hacked sony emails proved, they will defer to racist viewers in asia every time over giving a talented black actor like denzel washington a leading role.

Who cares? Casting people based on their race or gender and not on their acting ability is idiotic. It doesn't matter if every single movie out there has all black or all white or all male or all female actors, so long as those are the best people for the job, picked for their acting ability. Artificial diversity for the sake of artificial diversity is utterly stupid. But that is exactly why Paul Feig made this movie. Only a total regressive a-hole cares more about the diversity of the cast than the quality of the actors.

I've seen much worse trailers for much more anticipated films (which actually wound up being quite terrible) that didn't get anywhere near this amount of hate.

Calling a black actress a "savage" has nothing to do with how good or bad the trailer was. Whining that they're not hot enough has nothing to do with how good or bad the trailer was (and if I recall, the original male cast weren't exactly models themselves and no one ever complained about that). Nor does the bizarre complaint that having a female-led cast is somehow "sexist" (but of course the original male-led cast wasn't, nor would it have been if the reboot was male-led as well, somehow). Nor does the endless fedora-wearers complaining that women can't be funny.

And the hate hasn't stopped now that the movie is released and has generally had fairly good reviews.

I can't imagine the cast and crew's shock that they still got a reaction like this to merely having a female cast in the year 2016. Even I was a bit surprised, and I tend to take a jaundiced eye to humanity.

Were their assholes who said horrible things about the movie because of gender/race, yep.
Was that the majority? I'd say no.

I've been following this since nearly day one and the majority of the people involved with the criticism, hated it because of all the other drama surrounding it's production.
Not to mention the meh quality of the film itself.

Paul Fieg and the actors of the movie didn't help either.
Going on tv and calling your fan base, basement dwelling neck beards, doesn't garner much sympathy.
