The post office is currently $160 Billion in debt; $78 Billion of that since 2007 - 2019.
The US Government used to pick up the deficit each year until a crushing postal workers union strike in 1970. That then lead to Congress passing and President Nixon signing the Postal Reorganization Act which runs the post office as we know it today.
They are not supposed to have a deficit, but the taxpayers pour billions into the USPS every year.
Why USPS may run out of money before the end of 2020 - Business Insider
USPS has lost $78 billion since 2007 despite receiving billions from taxpayers every year. Democrats still want a bailout. | Congressman Fred Keller
US Postage should cost what it cost. If a 1st class letter needs to increase from 55¢ to $2 then it should be raised.
Let the people and businesses that use the mail system pay for it. Or allow competition via private companies.
I don't think I have mailed anything at all in 2020.
This is what is going on at the Post Office - not Trump's fault.
