(Reuters) - A police officer has resigned after pointing a rifle at protesters during racially charged demonstrations in Ferguson, Missouri, and another has been fired for inappropriate social media posts stemming from the two weeks of civil unrest, officials said on Friday.
Yep, any displays of humanity while wearing a badge makes you a worthless waste of oxygen. Maybe if we're lucky, they'll do the honorable thing, right? When was the last time someone expressed sadness over a cop losing his/her life or acknowledging a job well done? Actually, getting away from law enforcement is probably the best thing to happen to them. I swear they should all just walk off the job since almost nobody gives a **** about what happens to them anyway.
Officer Go **** Yourself has been forced to resign, and another officer who posted on social media sites that the Ferguson protesters should all be put down like rabid dogs has been fired.
Both decisions were good decisions. Police officers do not own the community. They work FOR the community, and the community is the boss, not them. I know that tensions have been running high in Ferguson, but if you threaten to kill people, then you do not deserve to wear a badge under ANY circumstances. End of discussion....... Or is it?

Emotional hyperbole about imagined things that no one has said is kinda sad and pathetic...
Saying that protestors should be put down like dogs is not an expression of humanity. Monsters say that sort of thing.Yep, any displays of humanity while wearing a badge makes you a worthless waste of oxygen.
Only every single time an officer is killed in the line of duty.Maybe if we're lucky, they'll do the honorable thing, right? When was the last time someone expressed sadness over a cop losing his/her life or acknowledging a job well done?

How annoying that must be to people who know better than to care for a piece of machinery. At least try not to begrudge the mourners too much. They're probably family and didn't know they shouldn't give a **** any more.
They were treating the people they are supposed to serve and protect as worthless wastes of oxygen. That's unacceptable in people who have vested in them the power to destroy lives.
Is there some other thread in which this post makes sense?
I hear ya. Unless a cop is "serving" you like a waiter or a prostitute they're better off put down themselves, amirite?
]I don't believe the officer who said inappropriate language and threats in the heat of the moment was given proportionate discipline. He should've been Suspended without pay, and maybe lose a pay grade, but not fired after 20 yrs of service, unless this was a 2nd offense?
The other cop who posted the protesters should be put down like rabid dogs was also over punished. Again, unless he's been caught doing this kind of thing before?
Did I say that?
How about answering the substance of my comment. And serve and protect is the motto of at least one big city PD is it not?
Is there something I said you disagree with? Surely you wouldn't suggest that cops be permitted to get frustrated, angry, hurt, saddened, stressed, etc. The ones who do need to be scrapped with no more care or concern than a broken down car.
I get it. They're there for your comfort and the ones who aren't committed to that just suck.

Officer Go **** Yourself had been disciplined 3 times previously. And it's not that they just kicked him to the curb. They gave him the option of resigning so he wouldn't lose his pension.
Well that's ridiculous. Unless he and his family are stripped of all their worldly possessions and he's forced to accept the only means of escape from a dishonorable life so clearly useless and pointless there is no justice.
Really? That's clearly not what happened here.
I assure you that the cop that accidentally killed his police dog will feel that way--though he got pounded by righties for reasons I still can't figure.I know. That's what I'm saying. There is no justice.
If there was, that guys life would be nothing but one long string of misery from here on out.

I think the public is tired of these guys getting full pensions and compounded COLA to be paid by the very people he terrorized.
Lord knows how many times I've had to hear I don't deserve my pension and I'm in good standing with the law .

I agree.
I know what happened for everyone: tempers boiled over and everyone's a human. but officers on duty (especially) have to satisfy the demands of their station - it's written plainly in their contract and rulebooks.
