CNSNews.com - Pelosi Says She Has a Duty to Pursue Policies in Keeping With The Values of Jesus, 'The Word Made Flesh'(CNSNews.com) -- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) says she believes she must pursue public policies "in keeping with the values" of Jesus Christ, "The Word made Flesh."
Pelosi, who is a Catholic and who favors legalized abortion, voted against the ban on partial-birth abortion that was enacted into law in 2003.
At a May 6 Catholic Community Conference on Capitol Hill, the speaker said: “They ask me all the time, ‘What is your favorite this? What is your favorite that? What is your favorite that?’ And one time, ‘What is your favorite word?’ And I said, ‘My favorite word? That is really easy. My favorite word is the Word, is the Word. And that is everything. It says it all for us. And you know the biblical reference, you know the Gospel reference of the Word.”
You know as well as i do that this only matters when a conservative is discussing the rleationship between his faith and his policy positons. How about our Resident "SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE" folks demand she be removed from office. Religion has no place in Government after all...

So... how long till our resident Atheist tear her apart for this?

How can Pelosi say she is a God fearing Catholic when even the Pope reprimands her for her stance on abortion? FOXNews.com - Pelosi, Pope Have No Meeting of the Minds
That is a story from last year when Pelosi met with the Pope.
Not sure I understand, or even care about "our resident athiest." But I do know CNS is a very questionable source, and that individuals are allowed to hold beliefs without it being any violation to the idea of separation of church and state. So, can we get to a point that is directed at one individual on the forum?
Imagine it's 2005 and House Speaker Dennis Hastert said “They ask me all the time, ‘What is your favorite this? What is your favorite that? What is your favorite that?’ And one time, ‘What is your favorite word?’ And I said, ‘My favorite word? That is really easy. My favorite word is the Word, is the Word. And that is everything. It says it all for us. And you know the biblical reference, you know the Gospel reference of the Word.”
Do you think that might occasion a bit of criticism from the left?
Um, are we seeing a bunch of atheists jumping to defend her just because she's a liberal? Because I haven't seen anyone do that.
I'm a liberal and I think Pelosi is wrong. Public policy should not be determined by religion. *coughcough* Same sex marriage. *coughcough*
How long before conservatives connect this to the "Jesus was a socialist" deal and ITS PROOF that PELOSI IS A DIRTY COMMIE.
Quite frankly I've always had the impression that liberals do a better job of criticizing "their own" than conservatives do. (as seen above)Conservatives seem to just slap a RINO label on anyone who dissents and calls it a day. (at least lately) "No you see it's ok because this guy's not a real conservative."
Nancy P. She's driven by Jesus.
At least she didn't claim that "God speaks to me".

A papal reprimand disqualifies one from being a God fearing Catholic? There are quite a few well publicized instances of kiddy screwing clergy that severely undermines that premise.
I've got a question for you, Vic. You're complaining that Pelosi believes she "Has a Duty to Pursue Policies in Keeping With The Values of Jesus, 'The Word Made Flesh'," a complaint I happen to agree with, by the way. Then you attack those who agree with you because they might be atheists.
WTF do you want here, dude? :screwy
I'm not attacking Atheist for that... I'm demanding consistency from them, that's all.

I have to agree with Glinda. Most atheists I know are actually pretty conservative politically (not socially).
You know as well as i do that this only matters when a conservative is discussing the rleationship between his faith and his policy positons.
Liberals? They get a pass -- it's more than OK for them to force their religious/moral beliefs on others.
Just ask them.
I'm not attacking Atheist for that... I'm demanding consistency from them, that's all.
No, that's the mod's game. You are demanding consistency, but not demonstrating any evidence that there is none. When a liberal comes on to this thread and shows some, you'll have a point. Until then, this is a pretty pointless "call out" thread.
If you REALLY want to know how to run DP's favorite game, Hypocrisy Check! I'll be happy to give you pointers.
I believe that we should not make laws based solely on our religious beliefs. I do not like Pelosi's comment.
Now, MrV, instead of throwing a fit about some imagined belief about what others think, how about actually commenting on what you think of Pelosi's statement.
I think Pelosi is an idiot... so her statements herein merely back this.
