On Wednesday, Pelosi informed her colleagues she is requesting four weeks of paid leave be added back into the bill, a source familiar with the matter confirmed to Insider.

"As we are reviewing priorities and at the urging of many Members of the Caucus, I have asked the Ways and Means Committee for its legislation for Paid Family and Medical Leave to be included in this morning's hearing," Pelosi wrote in a Dear Colleague letter. "Chairman Richie Neal and the Committee staff have worked on this priority for a long time and were ready."

this is becoming a comical farce . the gang that couldn't spend enough

We need a friggin' scorecard to tell what's in and what's out and what's being negotiated and who blames who for this Keystone Kops routine.

Rarely do I say something like this, but I fail to see how this gambit will work in getting BBB passed.

Manchin will not budge, and who the hell knows what Sinema even wants. No need to provoke them.

This would have a big impact and a big plus for Biden and the Democrats...

. . . . . on Americans. A very welcome replacement for the gang that couldn't spend enough on Afghanistan.
Man, these right wing responses are so ****ing dumb, its unreal and so easy to refute. 2 trillions + pissed away murdering and killing, and billinons in cash missing, and billions in weapons likely into the hands of terrorist themselves, while giving billinoaires trilliosn in tax cuts, and they want to talk about spending to help americans on much needed things?

And then pretend to have credibility LOL

Seems to me that if Manchin was going to support participatory funding for paid leave as it now appears he is leaning toward at this late hour, then he should have said so months ago. As for Sinema......she is cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs, a klieg light hound with nothing to say when she gets in front of them. Just wants you to see her spangles I guess. Missed her calling IMO. Should have been a fan dancer.

The article (‘borrowed’ from Business Insider) does not mention any “pay for”, but seems to include comments from Manchin that to get his approval it would be worker (rather than “rich” taxpayer) funded.

The article states Pelosi is requesting that the bill be changed (yet again) to add 1/3 of the original paid family leave, but no mention was made that her request has been acted on or whether the leave would be federally subsidized only for employees of ‘large’ employers (as the prior 12 week plan was).

Manchin continued to balk with the provision out. I think she may have made the calculation that this bill is just not going to happen with the Virginia votes sitting on the minds of moderates unless she can get the women's groups mobilized to put pressure. Maybe Manchin has more company now that we realize.

When revenue loss due to preferential tax codes and such are included when have the radical right wing ever spent less?

Preferential tax codes are a huge expense .........

It’s rather simple in Pelosi’s mind - we have to pass the bill to find out what’s in it. ;)

It's your form too. Or do you live somewhere other than America?
Your liberal lefties form of democracy is being forced upon me, it is not the democracy that I have enjoyed for the past 81 years. I do not want your version.

Is Joe Manchin a “righty”?
anyone who does not automatically agree with the lockstep plan is a trump loving, racist , fascism endorsing white supremacist.

you know this.
